About work being slow, lol. Our monthly revenue from ticket sales alone is way more than what your 6 elantras are bringing in a month, but will you hear anyone brag? "Show me someone who has cars more than I do" yet you have 6 cars and you were just told of someone with 16 cars. Lol.

Remain humble. That's the code.

@dru23 likes to put it out there that he is rich. Why would you even say when you are at the same time struggling to increase the number of cars in your fleet to just ten before the end of the year 2018.

I'll like to give you a reference point from someone who spent five years studying what qualifies as being rich/poor in a country you profess to reside (USA).

According to Thomas Corley who spent five years studying the lives of both rich people (defined as having an annual income of $160,000 or more and a liquid net worth of $3.2 million or more) and poor people (defined as having an annual income of $35,000 or less and a liquid net worth of $5,000 or less).

Do you @ dru23 qualify as a rich person in the country you reside? It's easy to convert your American currency to Naira and consider yourself rich. People who are truly rich don't go around telling the world they are. It often shows in their habits

Here are some of those habits:

“Rich people always keep their goals in sight.
"I focus on my goals every day."
Rich people who agree: 62%
Poor people who agree: 6%

Not only do wealthy people set annual and monthly goals, but 67% of them put those goals in writing. "It blew me away," says Corley. "I thought a goal was a broad objective, but the wealthy said a wish is not a goal." A goal is only a goal, he says, if it has two things: It's achievable, and there's a physical action you can take to pursue it.

And they know what needs to be done today.
"I maintain a daily to-do list."
Rich people who agree: 81%
Poor people who agree: 19%

Not only do the wealthy keep to-do lists, but 67% of them complete 70% or more of those listed tasks each day.

They don't watch TV.
"I watch TV one hour or less per day."
Rich people who agree: 67%
Poor people who agree: 23%

Similarly, only 6% of the wealthy watch reality shows, compared to 78% of the poor. "The common variable among the wealthy is how they make productive use of their time," explains Corley. "They wealthy are not avoiding watching TV because they have some superior human discipline or willpower. They just don't think about watching much TV because they are engaged in some other habitual daily behavior — reading."

They read … but not for fun.
"I love reading."
Rich people who agree: 86%
Poor people who agree: 26%

Sure, rich people love reading, but they favor nonfiction — in particular, self-improvement books. "The rich are voracious readers on how to improve themselves," says Corley. In fact, 88% of them read for self-improvement for 30 minutes each day, compared to 2% of poor people.

Plus, they're big into audio books.
"I listen to audiobooks during the commute to work."
Rich people who agree: 63%
Poor people who agree: 5%

Even if you aren't into audiobooks, you can make the most of your commute with any of these commute-friendly self-improvement activities
.
They make a point of going above and beyond at the office.
"I do more than my job requires."
Rich people who agree: 81%
Poor people who agree: 17%

It's worth noting that while 86% of rich people (compared to 43% of poor) work an average of 50 or more hours a week, only 6% of the wealthy people surveyed found themselves unhappy because of work.

They aren't hoping to win the jackpot
"I play the lottery regularly."
Rich people who agree: 6%
Poor people who agree: 77%

That's not to say that the wealthy are always playing it safe with their money. "Most of these people were business owners who put their own money on the table and took financial risks," explains Corley. "People like this aren't afraid to take risks."

They watch their waistline.
"I count calories every day."
Rich people who agree: 57%
Poor people who agree: 5%

Wealthy people value their health, says Corley. "One of the individuals in my study was about 68 and worth about $78 million. I asked why he didn't retire, and he looked at me like I was from Mars. He said, 'I've spent the last 45 years exercising every single day and watching what I eat because I knew the end of my career would be my biggest earning years.' If he can extend his career four to five years beyond everyone else, that's about $7 million for him."

And they take care of their smiles.
"I floss every day."
Rich people who agree: 62%
Poor people who agree: 16%

Enough said.”

My point is not to insult you or anyone else. I like to believe some of us would like to be enlightened here.

Some drivers are devil, black ones!

And am not exaggerating.

I am really angry!

Earlier when I see people like dru23 saying things about drivers, I felt he was too harsh, had I known

I added a Toyota Corolla, I was unlucky, engine knocked before it even made one naira. Changed engine, changed evaporator, condenser and a host of other things.

Changed almost everything on the legs from shocks, brake to tires. Spent over 300k for these.

Where possible, I use oem or new parts, I buy them myself or order online.

That's not the story, this is the story

I gave this cha cha Corolla to an experienced driver referred by someone I happen to know. I checked his profile he had 4.6 as his ratings I was cool but there was one problem, he had no phone.

said he had some challenges, he had to sell his phone.

Because of the person that referred him, I asked him which phone and how much, he mentioned one infinix with 2g ram, the price was 38k, I transferred 40k to him.

Filled the car to half tank and handed over to him on a Wednesday.

Come Friday, he wasn't still paired with me on Uber, called him, he gave some cock and bull story of how he needs to go Uber office and do it, well for other cars it only took minutes, so I gave him 24hours to that. He did it in 18.

Come Tuesday, Uber didn't pay me, I've forgotten about him to be honest, since I used a different Uber profile/email address for him, I checked his profile, he was in debit of about 10k, he was owing Uber, I called him, he gave some stories, pleaded I give him till Thursday, let him pay one full week.

I agreed

Had I known

Thursday, called severally before I reached him, another story, his ac was bad he hasn't been working I was furious, did you call me?

Asked him to go meet my ac guy to fix it. I like doing ALL my repairs, for fear of substandard parts.

immediately, I logged on my GPS tracker, this guy was a bloody liar, he's been all over Lagos especially at night.

Gave a benefit of doubt even though my tracker says otherwise. Asked him for my money he said next Tuesday, I chilled, this point I was boiling but I needed to chillax, thanks to Heineken.

Tuesday, oga didn't pay, he didn't call, I didn't call

Wednesday same thing

Checked GPS he's been all over Lagos

Thursday morning by 10am, I stopped the car.

Went to the location, collected my car keys and phone.
Mechanic was already over the car thinking it was a mechanical fault, he didn't call me ooo.

Took the car back only to discover the following

1. Booth was permanently locked
2. ‎passenger door has been bashed, the glass is broken inside
3. ‎the car stinks like sh*t
4. ‎the new phone screen was broken

All in 2 weeks

I repaired the spoilt things and am looking for a driver, but this time like the yorubas say

Ojú ánu tí fọ!

He called me, I didn't pick cos if I swear 'for' him, it will be so bad that he would prefer his village people romance him than for my curse to kiss him.

Other drivers have even noticed a change self.

Why am I typing this long epistle

I just saw the same guy here asking for a car, on this thread, promising no stories. Yepa! Am angry!!!
The same guy, same phone no!

The thunder that will fire him ehn, is still using Yokozuna as dumbbell.

Dear partners, before you accept any driver please ask to call their former partners! Simple
if they say no, da wọn nù bí omi ishanwọ̀

Plus collect upfront payment ooooo

If you don't have, ja kúrò ní waju mi jàre, mi o ráyè radarada pálapàla.

Datguru, abeg send me that your HP agreement, am considering it.

Udo!

abeg lock that driver up, include his guarantors too.

Uber calculates your rating over your last 500 rated trips

bily:
as a rider/driver, regarding Uber rating system, these are my own personal conclusions

.. a rating system is very much required and the purpose which is primarily to keep drivers on their toes in terms of service delivery and weed out bad drivers makes a lot of sense

...uber rating system is too simple, I believe the calculation should be much more complex. the simplicity of using normal averages makes it very very unfair to drivers. a form of weighted averages would have been better. for example if 4 people rates a driver 5 stars after which driver now gets a 1 rating, his average rating will be drop from 5 star to 4.2 immediately ie 5x4 +1x1=21/5=4.2. it will now require so many 5 star rating to get to 4.7 and the driver will never be on 5 star again even if he keeps getting 5 stars rating subsequently. so think this is the part that needs to be worked on

...rating systems should also affect riders. riders should also get temporarily blocked for low ratings cheesy this will also make riders sit up and be better clients

once you have a healthy rating after 500 rated trips. A single 1star rating wont drop ur rating drastically. But when u have not reached 500 rated trips a single 1star rating can drop it from like 4.40 to 4.37... Similarly when your rating is for instance, @4.20 or below a single 5star rating takes it to 4.23, and so when you are over 4.5 the rating grows slowing despite much 5stars rating....

400k consistently monthly.... for over a year....... and he hasn't gotten his own car yet...... and had to borrow money to pay his partner...

What I think is that someone somewhere in his village is using his photograph as Hand fan, while looking into a calabash...

Hmmmm... Bro some people responsibilities leave almost very little left to save. You're still a young man with obviously less responsibilities so you may never understand the reason why we save differently.

There are people that 400k monthly for a year straight will not change their lives because of how deep into poverty they've been for decades.

S'ope ti e mehn.

That was a joke by the way.
But don't you think you need to be sanctioned if for instance, like one rider I picked up and he lighted up weed while sitting in the car. So we need to look at things from a balanced perspective

Just started Uber as part time and it's been a heck sort off.
I've learnt some lessons o,...how to reject some riders.
Imagine spending almost 2hrs from ikeja to Oko Oba under heavy traffic by 10pm and the fee was less than 1000, even the rider pity me self.
I've learnt how to ask for destination and reject o if the place no make sense, imagine going from Oko oba to Badore by 11pm.

Then one woman come fart for the ride and was even fanning herself.
Wetin I for do?

I will do this trip anyday anytime.
I have 3 houses where I live.
Ipaja/surulere/Ajah.

On another note one of my driver just drop my car ... Am sorry dump my car. We thank God the car is still in perfect condition body wise and engine wise. Some driver sha jumping from one car to another. Well I guess that is how lazy people operate maybe he will be home praying to God to answer his prayers. People forget hard work, just pray and jump from one job to another hoping to land something big..... Nigerians are the most lazy people..... We can agree to disagree respectfully, but if you start to judge me by mine comments be ready to fight o ...

Ha am not worried about that . Am just giving people my experience on the forum. When my car had sludge I posted it the forum. I even stated that for now am not even making money coz of repair. So my point is to give investors on how the business is. When I got a new car on my fleet I even made it known. So when I start having 20 cars people should not a say am bragging or I should be humble o.
On another note I just got two more drivers for the same car that was dump sorry I meant drop. Hopefully the most qualify driver will start before nxt week
