The problem with Nigerian hospitals is not performing the surgery but recovery after the operation.

Let us know the update after 6months.

God bless you , post operative care is atrocious in this country, that critical period after the surgery and discharge where things like monitoring Vital signs, Pain control, Rate and type of intravenous fluid, Urine and gastrointestinal fluid output are usually done by less than qualified staff.
My father in law has just been discharged by one of the costliest hospitals in lagos with the worst bed sore i have ever seen and he was in the ICU for 4 weeks, just how did they miss it?

If your want to make fast money in Nigeria, Invest in Worthless&Vanity TV Shows like bbnaija, Violence and sex.
The human race is on a hopeless decline here in Nigeria. .

Adenike Adelakun A lady in her early 20's from the faculty of pharmacy, university of Ibadan graduated with 6.8/7.00 cgpa. No one is talking about that, I know there are excellent performances from other schools too, but I only talked about the one I'm sure of. Nigerians no longer celebrate academic excellence and innovations. All we are interested in are just frivolities. If we continue this way, we have no hope as a nation.

It's sad and nauseating when you want to read news on the most popular Nigerian site in a Monday morning And all you can find on the front page is news about a useless show. When did Nigerians get reduced to this point?

The pharmacist lady you are talking about. Did she make any ground breaking discovery in pharmaceutical science?

Someone crammed books written by olden days professors and pours it in her answers booklet to score 6 point whatever you said we should start celebrating it?

With your first class from Harvard you cannot engage me in a civil discus without bile. This discussion have nothing to do with me graduating from open university (you lie am not a student of open uni) or my religion. You are just a frustrated and non innovative unemployed Nigerian graduate. Nigeria educational system need change from cramming books to reasonings.

Even, if and when Nigeria manages to have a world class health facility... The rich will still prefer the developed world.... Reason?

There is this staunch belief that their life is safer in an oyibo man hand which is erroneous coz lots of pple, even their citizens die in their hands.

Wish the Nigerian govt can be really responsible though.... We re blessed with capable hands in professionals

But you're quick to identify Igbo criminals here by their names, and by your comments make it look as if Igbos are the only criminals in the world.

Who is the "you"

That a lot of Idi.ots on nairaland mock other tribes with derogatory terms doesn't mean that all Nairalanders are like that.

Like the poster, I identify with him that, nobody wins when a family feuds.

With the whole sickening tribalism, ask yourself genuinely if it has helped a large number of the individual tribes. Igbos, Hausa and Yorubas still have a high number people whose quality of lives are below acceptable standards of decency and sanity.

Poverty, Gloom, crimes, hate still affects every single tribe.

As appealing as the tribalism appears, I refuse to be among the herd of failures who follow its path.

My best friend's son had a hole in the heart. An Ngo funded experts to come for some surgery in Nigeria and my friends son was one of the beneficiaries.

Do you know that immediately the doctors left, half of the kids that were kept in the care of Nigerian health practitioners died. Surgeries that was already successful. Imagine! My friend was lucky because the son was the second child that was operated and the white ppl were still around during the recovery period. This is just one out of many.

My association also sponsored a brain surgery for a kid in a Nigerian hospital that is supposed to be the best in brain surgery. We were happy it was successful, but recovery saddened our heart. The situation became worse than the initial fate of the kid.

So in all, post surgery training for our health officers is key.

You hit the nail on the head! sad I know a case of a young man who picked up a secondary infection in the ICU unit, of a very expensive private hospital in Lagos, which was not detected until after a few days. It was such a sad experience.

This is such a sad case. sad It takes the grace of God and vigilance of family members in many cases, to ensure that post-operative care is properly done. Sometimes, it is not lack of money to get adequate medical care that kills a patient, but lack of vigilance and proper skill on the part of the medical staff that are supposed to provide such healthcare. undecided
