So Uber drivers, tell us your experience on day(s) your village people came for you. Lol

They came for me today. Am not a regular uber driver, just uses my Accord which by the way guzzes fuel. I needed some quick cash and targeted 10k but I forgot I was owing Uber 4k in commissions.
So this morning I took one small jambite from alapere to Adeniyi Jones, a distance of 9km.
As soon as we set out, Ambode come block alapere market square, so we had to find alternative routes to join Lagos Ibadan expressway till Uber app come confuse patapata. On top of that my phone started overheating and went off.
Now the small boy was so conscious of how much he will be charged, he brought out his Google map and kept directing me, at a point, I wanted to stop and ask for directions and he complained I was wasting time, so I played along with him, meanwhile Uber kept trying to reroute us. My Samsung note 4 phone finally went off due to overheat (for the first time). By the time we got there he wanted me to end the call instantly but phone was dead and dude was agitated. Eventually I had to drive him back some distance because he didn't get his address correct.
I felt for him and his brother at home who was pay as he kept calling to know if we had arrived. I had to remove my battery and convince him that the trip had ended and drove off. I went a pole away and kept recharging me phone for about 7mins before it came up and I ended the trip, surprisingly it was 3k. I checked distance and it was just 9km. I knew I was getting a bad rating so I equally rated him 3. Instantly I saw 3 uber messages about my driving, professionalism etc and I knew he was the one. I for give am 1 star self.
From there, my village people come again, throughout today my phone kept misbehaving and shutting down often. So from Adeniyi Jones I went to Airport to see if I fit chop surge, but before I arrived, surge don disappear and I was number 16. I packed somewhere and people came to warn me that my village people are sending toll vehicles and I ran away, drove round and came back, trolled round and left after 45mins. Riders no just show, phone too was messing up. So I drove to Iyana oworo hoping to pick up few people to Lekki, but my village people carry Aja people full ground and they no gree enter, me ma no go drive go Ajah, so I drove to Awolowo road and my phone still kept acting up. Finally I put on my Taxify and I saw a surge near ribadu and as I was heading there, a call came but my VgP made her cancel. Another Taxify ride came from Bourdillon and as I was heading there, my VgP come knock me and one SUV and all hell was let loose. The guy drag drag and even the police there vex and ordered us away, na so I take loose that ride. We drag the matter for more than 30 minutes along Bourdillon before the guy let me go as me ma de form say I get insurance. I told him to bring his oga car (brake fluid removed the scratch anyway) to my insurance company for assessment before he left as he see say the 5k he was asking for won't materialise. By this time it was 7:05pm.
Anyway God pass my VgP, I got a ride to Ikeja, smooth ride and fast, road was free. From there I got a short ride of 600naira instantly and another Uber ride to omole phase1. They come de pay card trips, na so son of man carry empty hands come back, plus wasted fuel. The street is hard mehn.
BTW Taxify sweet pass Uber, how I wish I get more Taxify

I no believe in Village people o, but we got give them the glory some days

how can you have the mind to drive on Uber with a bad phone? Hian!

Yaris 2006-2010 is a fantastic car,
comes with a 1.3liter engine (japan,s/a, Europe) or a 1.5liter engine (USA) I currently manage 26 for a particular coy. Major issues are just airconditioning. It comes with a very sensitive variable displacement compressor and when it packs if you don't go the proper route car starts vibrating wen idle and looses power when a/c is engaged. Suspension is fantastic, parts are cheap and available.

Thanks a million, once pepper land, I go conner you for professional discuss. With chilled orijin and trophy for better analysis.

In Lagos, this biz has gone down drastically. Our fortunes went south when uber reduced fares by 45% while leaving their commission unchanged. And too many vehicles on uber and taxify platforms, such that earning per driver has dipped seriously.

I have been driving on both platforms for 2 yrs now and I have done close to 3000 trips on both platforms. The issues are:

Incredibly low fares
Car jacking, snatching especially at night
Fraudulent riders who always refuse to pay
Bad roads leading to frequent repairs
Traffic gridlocks
High cost of spare parts and maintenances
Few or non existent price surges
Death of drivers due to greater insecurity and accidents due to fatigue.
High commission charged. Uber charges 25% while taxify charges 15%

All these and other factors have reduced drivers earning considerably hence any driver that makes 60k-100k weekly is a star and lucky chap. Requests are few and far in between,

Drivers are not meeting up with payments, it's very tough and unpredictable now.

Personal advice is dont get carried away by false info out there. This is the truth and reality. If you must invest, play down your expectations or stay away to avoid avoidable heart aches.

Wow sorry bro.. Didn't know that people are still snatchin, car jacking etc is still very rapid in the uber business.. I mean understand the bad roads and frequent repairs of cars... so request is even slow on the weekends too... am sure request on Sundays and Monday has dried up too ? So are you still driving uber still or you have thrown in the towel? Well it is well bro

The truth is that the business has gone sour, to be able to meet up, you need to work extra smart, and also the grace of God. What we need is Back to Back is a GO

250k my foot. I had a friend that delivers 35k weekly but he was working almost 24hrs (day n night to make that amount, and and the end of the week, nothing to save for himself, that's even taxify o, that's is kinda more popular than uber. He has dropped the car now because he can't meet up the payment anymore! There are too many people on the platform now, so it's not as lucrative as b4. I have a group whatsapp for the drivers where we share experiences, motivate and encourage one another on the driving experience! U can't make 250k. Na lie

So you expect the drivers to tell you the truth that they are making money ? What do you expect them to tell you now.... Pretty soon drivers will tell you to dash them the car now... u telling me drivers can't make money on Sunday and Monday and work smart during the week .... Plz let them drop the car if they are not making money.
Health is wealth and then can sit home and pray to God now..

The phone hadn't had issues before yesterday, in fact in the evening, it stopped misbehaving, that's why I said name village people .Lol

always place phone near a/c vent,
avoid running too many apps when on uber/taxify. Me personally I reboot phone and leave only 2apps on when I am on the platform (Google maps/uber)
