earthrealm: In my opinion, follow the manufacturer Verbatim for volatges There is a reason they print it on the carton. if the charger is not temp compensated use the temp coefficient of similar make. I prefer to use lower charge currents though as C10 charging is proven to provide the highest cycle efficiencies http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_the_lead_acid_battery 2 Likes |

NoMoreTrolling: Battelborn ( in general all drop-in replacements)are too expensive as they bundle BMS which each battery and underrate the cell to increase life and charging inaccuracies. 900 USD for 1.2 KWH BYD is 1000 Pounds for 2.5 KWH 48 V ( 6000 Cycles) and herewin china is 3000 USD 10 KWH , 48 V( 2000 cycles) But you have to spend atleast 300 USD to get a battery monitor and disconnector |

earthrealm: Use knob setting 4 - sealed lead acid. on Knob 3 Lifepo4 the absorb time will be very short as Li batteries don't like absorb for flooded use 6 - FLA batteries are more tolerant of high voltages as extra voltage only causes gassing in short-term and water evaporation can be handled by just topping water . on my Luminous i use 54.6 for float and 57.4 for absorb 1 Like |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 7:44am On Mar 28, 2018 |
My understanding is that 'Cycle Use' means 'Deep Cycle Use' - a scenario where you discharge the battery by at least 5 - 10% or more over 2 hours or more (think 8 - 16 hours battery backup in the typical Nigerian scenario) Standby use is like using the battery for/as a UPS - you only drain battery power with light loads and for very short periods e.g. 1 hour at most and the battery is discharged less than 5% in that time window. Both 'cycle use' and 'standby use' voltages are specifying the minimum and maximum absorb voltage range in those usage scenarios So in your case who will very likely be cycling the battery deeply, you can use anything between 14.4 volts and 15.0 volts as the absorb set-point for your battery. I strongly recommend 14.4volts absorb set-point or setting number 4 as Oga Pranil already recommended. This voltage set-point is ideal to help you strike the balance between adequate charging to maintain battery capacity and long battery life. The latest luminous batteries I know are 14.1v to 14.4v absorb voltage in deep cycle applications (yellow color Luminous) see the specs below. I would take the mid-point 14.2v to charge them. Based on user reviews and field experience, (abeg no one should come and fight me o) I would recommend you stick with Quanta or KungLong or Monbat as first priority and only consider other brands next. earthrealm: 1 Like

I have new information to report on the ZHC HA02 battery balancer. I have now observed it moving up to 5amps between two mismatched 12v batteries one at 12.3v and the other at 10.5v. This is higher than the 2amps max at 12v I thought it could do. This should be good news for the end user hoping to bring his mismatched battery bank into better equilibrium. I am going back to that site in 2 weeks or so so I can update with the longer term effects of using a battery balancer to rebalance heavily mismatched batteries in a series string.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 10:11am On Mar 29, 2018 |
Yes but sadly sold off the last piece just two days ago. I will have one or two new pieces on ground in two weeks time. This model is the UniT UT210E - it does AC and DC amps readings up to 100amps off the clamp as well as AC and DC voltage readings and resistance/continuity measurements as well as having a non-contact AC voltage detector (like a posh tester so you don't touch a live circuit. It does not do AC Frequency (Hz) readings. You would need a different UniT model for that. Though a low budget chinese product the UniT UT210E is a very capable performer with it's readings well in line with the more premium Fluke, Agilent, Amprobe, Klein e.t.c meters. It has been heavily reviewed on various forums and found not wanting in performance as well as very good value for money. Just for laughs , I am including a picture of my growing collection of Fluke and Amprobe meters. I am finding accurate metricing/metering to be a favorite pass-time for me. You may reach out freely to firm up an order for the UniT mcTrinity:

It seems Nigerian officials decided to follow Indian model on customs duties Offgrid Customs slowing down growth of solar power in Nigeria with arbitrary port charges – REAN http://www.offgridnigeria.com/customs-slowing-down-growth-solar-power-nigeria-arbitrary-port-charges-rean/ Arbitrary charges allegedly levied on imported solar power photovoltaic (PV) parts by Nigeria’s Customs authorities have contributed to the slow pace of deployment of solar power to homes and offices in Nigeria, the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) has said. REAN, an industry pressure group set up in 2016 to push for broader adoption and deployment of renewable energy sources to cut down the country’s energy poverty, said at a press briefing in Lagos that Nigeria could miss its target of having up to 30 per cent of the electricity distributed to its people come from renewables by 2030 on account of the Customs’ levies. It also alleged that the port levies by the Customs have continued to deny Nigeria the benefits from a steady fall in costs of solar power components whereas other African countries with favourable customs levy have benefitted from this drastic cost reductions. In 2016, OGN reported that the Nigerian Customs planned to raise import tariff on solar power components. However, at the press briefing on Wednesday reportedly supervised by REAN’s president, Mr. Segun Adaju, the association called for a cancellation of such duty charges. OGN got details of the briefing from the official twitter handle of the association @REANigeria. The association said that the Customs forces its members to pay between 5 per cent and 10 per cent import duty on solar panels. It warned that such high duty rates could escalate the cost of acquiring solar power in Nigeria. “Protests continue as League of Renewable Energy Companies in Nigeria set to mitigate against the effect of exploitation and extortion by @CustomsNG on imported solar products,” said REAN on its twitter handle. It added: “It has come to the attention of executive committee of the REAN, a leading private sector renewable energy group in Nigeria, that our members are being forced to pay between 5% – 10% import duty on solar panels by @CustomsNG. “This new import duty on solar panels by @CustomsNG may lead to hike in cost, derailing FG’s renewable energy plans.” REAN stated: “We therefore urge @FMPWH @UNDPNigeria @Nigeria @MBuhari @NGRPresident @NGRSenate @EBESnigeria @ProfOsinbajo @tundefashola @HMKemiAdeosun to take control of the situation and instruct @CustomsNG to stop the imposition of these charges on imported solar panels.” Far-reaching impacts of alleged duty rates Highlighting the impacts of the rates on its members operations, the REAN explained that discharge of imported solar components from the ports have been slow, while solar projects costs in the country could rise. According to it: “Consequently, discharge of goods from the ports has been slowed down immensely and demurrage charges have risen for our members since the start of the year. “The imposition of arbitrary port charges by @CustomsNG will accelerate value destruction in this industry and will cause prices to rise to uncompetitive levels. All over the world, the cost of solar panels is falling, hence increased adoption of renewables.” “This new tariff by @CustomsNG will increase acquisition cost of solar panels in Nigeria which are currently heavily deployed in rural areas where purchasing power is low. “Even though under the CET code 8541.4010.00 – a classification for import duty tariff – import duty on solar panels should be 0%,” it added. A call for help REAN called on the Nigerian authorities to intervene in the development. It highlighted that at the moment Nigeria does not produce solar power components and as such cannot afford such entry barrier measures on solar components. It explained: “Nigeria currently does not have capacity to manufacture solar panels in volumes that can meet market demand hence our recourse to importation while growing capacity locally. “We therefore urge @FMPWH @UNDPNigeria @Nigeria @MBuhari @NGRPresident @NGRSenate @EBESnigeria @ProfOsinbajo @tundefashola @HMKemiAdeosun to take control of the situation and instruct @CustomsNG to stop the imposition of these charges on imported solar panels.” “This could derail Nigeria’s plan to generate 30 per cent of electricity through renewables by 2030,” REAN warned. “As concerned Nigerians, the members of REAN have answered the national call by providing solutions to the country’s epileptic power situation and provide over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. @CustomsNG officials keep disrupting our progressive hard work. “This is apart from the other benefits like increased disposable incomes, improved environmental conditions (like reduced noise and air pollution due to displacement of diesel generators), the association noted. 1 Like |

Would this model you have be the UniT UT203? With pics below? I ultimately sold the one unit of it that I ever bought to a friend who borrowed it and refused to return it. I found the Hz readings rather finicky as I had mentioned in a previous review but otherwise a very excellent meter. makavele:
