Perhaps Frumentum can tell us who comprises this recon team. Some look like they mean business.

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Defence is currently visiting RSABatt in the DRC. I don't know where that caption originated, but those guys are from SAAF 500 and 504 Squadron, based in Goma and Beni Airports. 504 Squadron provides air base security, whilst 500 Squadron is the SAAF's ground SOF capability in charge of rapid reaction, VIP protection, and other specialised tasks.

I've previously posted pics of them in Goma air base.

That 2nd last pic is very interesting. Wood stock rifles are rarely seen in operation nowadays-difficult to maintain as they absorb moisture. The barrel looks like at least a .338 mag or larger-what is it?

Trust you to pick that up. Recces and Pathfinders on deployment don't have sergeant majors screaming at them about regulations. I've no idea what it is.

It's a 2017 picture from an SA Soldier magazine during those goodwill visits to deployed personnel wink

Is there any chance the whole service plans to change to it. If no, can't they modernize the AK a bit ni

Based on what was written in the IHJANE WEEKLY
The BERYL ( and its variants) are supposed to be the Standard Assault Rifle for the NA AFSF ( i.e. SF OPS for the NA)
The infrastructure as detailed is detailed to come in three parts including T-O- T
This represents i guess one of the tidal changes in the NA doctrine for changing form just a conventional army but one built in with AFSF - with the infrastructure.
In part two of your answer based on what is transpiring in the pictures and the comments of the other chiefs no
The NAF QRF and their nascent SF it appears for all intents and purposes their standard assault rifle will be the TAVOR . I base this on all pictures of their graduates and demonstrations.
Can someone enlighten us on the Navy's NNSBS?.
The Army due to their SIZE will stick with the NA- AK47 AND AK103

You'd be forgiven for thinking this pic was taken somewhere in the Eastern Block.

When you want to assault a position and make it look the Europeans did it grin

NAF Regiment all use the Tavor-21. That's the standard carbine of the Regiment. Only NAF members who are part of AFSF use the Beryl.

Navy SBS use the Tavor-21 and it's derivatives, again only members of the Navy that are part of AFSF use the Beryl.

The Beryl will grow to become the standard Infantry weapon of the Nigerian soldier. The LoI signed, is the first step in this process.

No Nigerian soldier, Army, Navy or Air Force use the AK-103. What Army special units field is the Beryl rifle, Arsenal Co. AR-M1 from Bulgaria and limited number of Tavor-21.

AFSF is not an SF for the army, it is a unit formed, trained and equipped by the ONSA.

P.S, you guys should dail it down with the big grammar. Simple sentences in plain english is fine, easy and makes it more enjoyable to read.

When posters start throwing big grammar, i usually simply just pass up the comment and look elsewhere.

Errr .
Henry while I agree with most of what you said.
There is a part you are quoting me out of context.
I said the doctrine of the NA is changing from that of a Standard Conventional Army to one with a Built in Component of what are essentially Task Force units with more emphasis on Mobility and speed. This is based on some of the pictures we have seen.

I love that it's been built in Nigeria it's a very good gun we should make it the standard weapon of choice.
