No. Not shifting of focus. We are in mourning for the death of Nigerian football. Before you protest remember 'post mortem'

@ tbaba1234, the second goal was Ebuehi's fault. He wasn't to mark a player Ekong was already marking he should have covered for him instead.

Hahahaha hahahaha. Na online you dey dey call am stupid. Smh. Wole Soyinka talks about those who wallow in the secure cesspit of anonymity afforded by the Internet to insult others. You are simply playing to the gallery by saying the bolded especially bringing in local coaches just to pander to patriotic zeal. Cos I've not said anything about not criticising Rohr at all within the immediate context of our discussion. You have moved from criticism into the gutter of insults. Let me leave you there abeg. I no dey.

grin

This ain't gonna work on me Dude. Did I insult you in any of my Posts? We can insult late Keshi, Siasia, Onigbinde and Co but we can't insult Rohr ba?! You chose to throw Tantrums at me indirectly by quoting Professor Wole Soyinka, because I insulted Rohr the Messiah?!. LOL!

Listen, i ain't gonna attack your personality, coz I consider you a smart, intelligent Person. You brought the Insult on Rohr, you made a Fool out of him by making flimsy Excuse to justify the poor Performance of Ebuehi in the latter Part of the 2nd Half.

Was he really unfit? Did Rohr know he was unfit yet he played him for 90mins?! Did Rohr aware the Lad is still recovering from Groin Injury, yet he played him for the entire Match Duration?!

Imagine yourself a Coach, will you play an unfit Player in a friendly Match? What do you intend to gain by playing an unfit Player for the whole Match Duration?!

You gave false Information to justify Ebuehi poor performance in the latter part of the 2nd Half. You wanted us to believe it's because of his Fitness he was out-paced which eventually resulted to a Goal against us?!

If you could notice it (Ebuehi's Fitness Level), but Rohr on the Touch-line couldn't, what do you think of him as a Professional?!

To date not one official corroboration of that position so in otherwords your assertion is anchored on thin and beer parlour rumour.

Unless you are telling folks here thatis what Rohr told you personally. Otherwise it's a load of Balderdash

And if you cant prove it you are rumour peddling.

Silence is considered golden in this kind of situation I would suggest.

Can I add what kind of coach will play an injured player in friendly with the world cup round the corner. Don't make any sense to me what are establishing his pain threshold or aggravating the injury to make him unfit long term.

Your supposed football rational with regards to Aina is only understood by you. Aina came non fir barely five minutes is that how you test a player.
you are not a person I regard on this thread, so best believe, I do not read the trash you post here.

RULES OF FOOTBALL WHEN WE WERE KIDS

1. The fat kid was always the goalkeeper...

2. The owner of the ball decided who played...

3. Penalty (otherwise called PENARITY!) was awarded
only if an injured player could curse or fight a lot...

4. The match only ended when everyone was tired...

5. No matter how many goals you scored, the winner
would be determined by the last team to score...

6. No referee and linesmen. You could run with the ball
even behind the goalpost...

7. If you didn't participate in repairing a damaged ball you were given a match ban...

8. If you're picked last, you're a loser...

9. The guy who's never picked was to fetch the ball from the tree or bush when it got stuck, under the car or tunnel to play in the next game...

10. When the owner of the ball got annoyed, game
over...

11. You were allowed to change a goalkeeper in case of a penalty...

12. The most skillful player got automatic selection...the most bully player got automatic selection too.......

13. No discrimination, both the children of rich and the poor played together!

14. Three corners make one Penarity!

15. All players help in household work of the ball owner.

16. If the ball burst everyone contribute to pay the owner.

17. You can't dribble the owner too much. This may lead him to stop the game by taking away his ball.

18. You can go round the goalpost still return into the field and score.

19. When you hit your toes against a stone and notice blood, you quickly cover the area of injury with sands as a form of first aid. Play continue.

20. We called ourselves by nicknames of great players especially from Brazil and England.

21. Game over when it's dark and we can barely see the ball. We all dispersed in groups to our face me I face you homes teasing one another until d last player gets home to face another round of punishment from our disciplinarian parents .

On Uzoho's "strong" face despite being such a genuinely young lad, I will just say this:

I believe Uzoho's facial features look somewhat "acromegalic" and it is really not uncommon among certain youngsters. Some just seem to look older than their age mates....

Please for those who kept making jabs at Uzoho's age because of his face... Please when next such "jabbing thought" comes to you, biko ehn... Remember the face of 17 years old Brazilian boy wonder and no.3 in the World's best NXGEN 50 teens, Vinicius Jr who is already Real Madrid-bound.

For emphasis sake, I repeat... Please... When next taking funny jabs at Uzoho comes to mind when you remember that he is actually 19... Then biko just remember this face of Vinicius Jr below... He is "just 17"

Thanks so much. smiley Happy Easter people....

Pic 1: Vinicius Jr at 16 in the South American U-17 Championships

Pic 2: Vinicius Jr at 17

@ oasis007....let me add some rules...
The game doesn't end so long it's raining.

Game over when you break a leg.....dislocated my knee once from a very bad tackle and that was the end of the game.

And o another rule... Get your self injured and you are just poured water... Anything else you pay for your own treatment.....

This is fun..... When playing monkey post.... A goal only counts when it's a ground ball, anything else na high ball.... Lolz

I know he speaks based on personal experience with the '96 Olympic Eagles team-The Dream Team... but he may also have a point. That said, we cannot downplay the impacts and Values of a truly top goalie shaa... but still Emma Babayaro has a point

Ex Super Eagles Goalkeeper – Eagles Don’t Need A Fantastic Goalkeeper To Do Well In Russia

Atlanta 96 Olympic gold medallist Emmanuel Babayaro says the clamour for a very good goalkeeper for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia is one issue that has been over emphasised.

Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive interview, the former West Ham United trialist said Nigeria should be looking at strengthening other areas of the team and not necessarily the goalkeeping department.

The duo of Francis Odinaka Uzoho of Deportivo La Coruna and Ikechukwu Ezenwa of Enyimba are in the running to man the post for Nigeria, no thanks to the ailment suffered by first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.

Babayaro down played the need for a fantastic goalkeeper at the World Cup, insisting that if other areas of the team is properly stocked, an average goalkeeper can do the job for the Eagles.

”The reason why Nigerians are clamouring for a very good goalkeeper is because of the amount of goal scoring opportunities we give opponents during games. Which is directly a fault of the defenders and not the goalkeeper “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com.

"Vincent Enyeama has done well for us in the last two World Cups, and the best his display has given us is to reduce the score line as other departments didn’t do what was expected of them.

”As a country we presently can’t boast of a goalkeeper of Enyeama’s quality but it’s not a necessity as being mentioned by many. For instance with all due respect to Dosu Joseph, the reason behind our triumph at the Olympics wasn’t because he was a fantastic goalkeeper.

”We won gold at the 1996 Olympics because other departments of the team made up for our short comings elsewhere. First of all we need a very good defence set up to provide cover for whoever is picked to man the post by coach Gernot Rohr. That should be our priority now”, he concluded.

I agree with this 80%.

Good keeper cannot win you a match but a good defence can. After all, if the defence is too good the keeper will be rarely tested as it happened in Nig vs Cam @ Uyo

forgiveness:

Do you mean Austin Ejide who was clubless for almost 2-3 seasons before he got a club in the second division of Isreali league is better than Dele Aiyenugba who is playing consistently in the first division of Isreali league for almost 2-3 seasons?

If we are looking for experience, Ejide is more experienced than Ayenugba. That he was inactive for a season does not cancel d fact that he is active and in form now. Playing in 2nd division should not be an issue afterall Ayenugba was also in 2nd division 2 seasons ago. If being in 2nd division is equal to poor quality then u should stop clamouring for Championship players and dont forget that Uzoho is in 3rd division. That we are saving for tomorow does not mean we should starve to death today. Fifa will not give us any trophy for parading d youngest team in d mundial, we must mix experience and youthfulness to get d needed balance.
Ejide's club is on d verge of gaining promotion and he has been one of their standout player. He has years of experience in d Nigerian league, Tunisian league, French league, Israeli league and National team. In addition to his experience, He has good height and composure that could instill confidence in our defenders.
I am not actually suggesting players to a coach that understands d game much more than me, but what am saying that if need be, Ejide would be d best option to fall back on.

Ejide was already 'finished' in 2014.. We saw him in the run-up to the WC. This is 2018, 4 years later... I do not think Ejide is the silver bullet..

I feel, that we can go to the WC with Uzoho if we keep our defence very tight and attack with purpose.

Lets get this clear. Uwa Echiejile was convincing in almost every single game he played under Rohr his problem is that he now plays in Belgium second division.

I disagree, go watch those games again..you will notice he offers next to nothing going forward, his passing is not good, always passing backwards, can't advance play...he lacks speed now..the only thing he is good at currently is tackling!!!, put a good winger on him and we are in trouble..

Someone posted a facebook link fee pages ago where you can watch all of super eagles game in the last one year..I had to take time to watch most of our wcq again..bros echiejile is on a downward spiral with his game now...anyone clamouring for echiejile should take their time and watch those games and u would notice right away this is not the echiejile of 2014..

this no be English lecture oh.. a "punny" expression must precede "no pun intended". it is used to draw attention to the pun used, either for humor sake or to prevent confusion. A common example used in my secondary school days: "seven days without water makes one weak".
Can you see the humor in that? What's the humor? Seven days makes one week. Where is the confusion? The statement actually means going without water for seven days will make you WEAK.

So when Mujtahida tells somehow , he is somehow, that's a pun considering that somehow is also his moniker.. it's actually funny, and saying no pun intended is to draw attention to the joke/pun.

In actual sense it is better used in spoken english. in written english, it would be better to just rephrase the statement, unless the intention of course is to draw the reader's attention to the pun for humor sake.

The bottom line, in the absence of pun, you cannot use the expression, "no pun intended".

this no be English lecture oh.. a "punny" expression must precede "no pun intended". it is used to draw attention to the pun used, either for humor sake or to prevent confusion.

The bottom line, in the absence of pun, you cannot use the expression, "no pun intended".

lol oga joebie just bring 2 bottles of udeme mek person sip, cos this lecture go take me 2 days to digest... No pun intended..... Kikikikkikikiki.

I don't understand why some of us are pressing the panic buttons.
are we? O come on, how can you say so when we have agreed we don't really need a fantastic goalkeeper to do well, a shittty one will do. Even oga tbaba1234 (shey naim be goalkeeper for here) can man the post. Our aims and objectives (going out from the group stage) will definitely be fulfilled. So you see friend... No panic, we are really calm...... No pun intended....

I am not actually suggesting players to a coach that understands d game much more than me, but what am saying that if need be, Ejide would be d best option to fall back on.
both goal keepers are not needed....
ejide is like akpeyi always scared and shaking in goal...I still remember the goals he gift away to the Scottish in one of our friendlies prior the 2014 world cup...in engalnd...

uzoho will do better than that.....
please I will even prefer we manage Dele...but ejide is a no no for me....

Most effective strikers in the Eredivise

the earlier we tell ourselves the truth...the better for US....we don't need an Ighalo kind of striker at the world cup...
a striker who can miss 7 glaring chances
is not what the super eagles need at this time...
I think nancho we should continue with from now....
i think part of our problem in this team is rohr....his conservative nature is not helping matters....
why invite players to camp and they won't get to play a mere friendly?
why keep inviting them?
now...we don't know how ajayi, Gabriel play...if they are better...no one knows
and thats had...this friendly especaliy against Serbia would have offered him an opportunity to play ajayi and let's see how good he is...likewise Agbo and Gabriel....
so doing we will get to know how good they're and if they can displace Ighalo.
also I think dessers or sadiq umar should have been invited in place of Gabriel.....
rohr is very scared of taking risks or probably he is just too conservative

I disagree friend. Ighalo be looking like a very good option to have. Go rewatch the Serbia game, we actually played better when he came on. He held up play very well and brought his team mates into the game. He had shots 2 or 3 I guess. Should have scored one. I will take Ighalo to lead the attack anytime any day over nacho, because he leads the attack better, especially if we are playing a lone striker.
