Last time a mate of mine came to visit, he was in the company of his brother in law and he asked the brother in law to wait in the car. I insisted he came in. But the point here is that he didn't assume that just because he is welcome, everybody else in his company at the time is just as welcome.

In fact, just no matter how well I know you, you cannot rock up at mine unannounced. You may not be let in.
