Oasis007: O boy you don kee me with laughter finish here. Let me add: Because there were no cross bars, any ball that goes higher than the stones used as posts was regarded as "High goal"! Referees were regarded as "lefree" A bicycle kick was regarded as "Shangalo" Popular names we called ourselves: Maradona, Zico, Etim, Zagalo. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Humility017: The basis for call up is not sentiment. But consistent top quality performances in your club the better the league and better the club the more valid your claim for invitation. In all honesty the reason we still have KC and Musa in the team is we simply have very few quality strikers. Otherwise both of them by club form would simply be dropped. |

Almost all the teams that I've watched- Germany, Spain, South Korea, Portugal, Egypt whip in crosses. Only Nigeria doesn't do that. We are really crippled in the wings. Dribbling and passing towards goal is a waste of energy when instead of running you can send the ball on an errand through well delivered crosses. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

elyte89:if na so, let us also move on from comparing this team with any of the old teams. Let us act like the Nigerian Super Eagles team only came into existence last week with the Serbian game, since we cannot make reference to our old games again because of one loss 5 Likes |

safarigirl:I agree with him. It's a habit that the Super Eagles were know for, but these current set don't even have it as a habit. We need to find that habit back, cos Brazil are using their wingback to do it consistently in their last 10 games that I've watched. The stress of breaking down a determined defence is much. No team at the world cup would do such work. They'll prefer to catch the defence unawares with crosses. That's what matters. Ighalo with a header... well no one crosses and he doesn't hala for one. |

safarigirl: but how come we still reference the south Africa game...in uyo? well you did no wrong...just that I just want the midfield and the strike dept to be improved... other options should be tried..as well. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 4:20pm On Mar 30, 2018 |
Seriously, if you are against Martins being invited, it should be for a valid reason other than "he's old and expired". Last season, this same Martins had a similar goal ratio to our current first choice striker IN THE SAME LEAGUE. Why is it that whenever Komekn mentions Martins, it's like WW3 to some people?? 5 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: Joseph Dosu was in no way average. Immediately after the Olympics Dosu got a deal from Julius Berger to Reggiana in Italy not a mean feat. He also became ttte first choice keeper of the Super eagles before that unfortunate accident that ended his career. Babayaro was dropped to the bench after laying many eggs against lowly togo at the friendly match before the Olympics. So said another way, Babayaro wey no fit pass foreign trial on top all his efforts. Abi naija corruption stop him from getting a club too? 2 Likes |

edi287:Why haven't we even invited Gbolahan Salami who is banging in goals in Finland. What about Ogbeche. Our midfield is problematic yet we have the Rabius, Rabiu Alli and Mohammed. In fact Rabiu Alli has been a footballer before Iwobi was born. Very experienced. Not forgetting Gambo Mohammed, ex confeds cup player. This man in Ostende, Akpala is there too. Peter Utaka is still balling as well instead we are talking of Bresia or what's his name again. |

Mujtahida:actually like 2012 write up,people are still saying,if we play this,if we play that,we could be beaten silly, yet we have been playing all sorts of teams,n no team has been able to be beat us that silly. if it is only Spain or Germany will b able to beat us that silly, then we are very good, after all Brazil have been beaten silly and mercilessly but they r still formidable. it does not matter if we are beaten once or twice, all that matters is that we keep improving until we becomes formidable 4 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 5:03pm On Mar 30, 2018 |
Perspective please: My simple point is this.... Dosu was not spectacular.... He was not fantastic... He was also not special at the Olympics. He was average at Atlanta 96 and cannot even be mentioned among our top 10 finest goalies of all time. Yet with Dosu in goal, Nigeria still strived in that tournament and it is not as if our defence in '96 didn't even let in goals. This current Super Eagles team has an Ezenwa and Uzoho vying for the no.1 slot in Russia. Let us throw our weights behind them and hope for the best. We have a very decent defence too and they protected these goalies against fine attacks (Cameroun with Bassogog/Moukandjo/Aboubakar, Algeria with Mahrez/Slimani/Brahimi and Poland with Lewandowski). So this is about each dept of the team making up for some of the deficiencies in other depts. Nigeria's Super Eagles can cope without a top class goalie. It is really sad Ikeme is down and Enyeama is not in form or good shape so we have to go with this risk. Taliban: |

Taliban:Why not we invite Oliseh, Udeze and Amuneke? Build on what's on ground and make them play as a unit. Only that can make them a formidable force. |

After the two friendlies, these are my suggestions 1. Austin Ejide should make the final cut 2. Mikel is our most influential player he must be fit. 3. Samuel Kalu provides options from the right wing, he has to be considered. |
