Seriously, if you are against Martins being invited, it should be for a valid reason other than "he's old and expired". Last season, this same Martins had a similar goal ratio to our current first choice striker IN THE SAME LEAGUE. Why is it that whenever Komekn mentions Martins, it's like WW3 to some people??

let them kick a ball in the colors of the super eagles before you pass judgements on them....
Ighalo is simply not better too...I see him as a flash in pan kind of striker.....

Odion Jude Ighalo.
Gernot Rohr's first choice Striker.

Can anyone remind me of the national teams Jude has scored against excluding Cameroon and Luxembourg?

The memories of him scoring in the GWG were: an header against Cameroon in an international friendly match in 2015 and a well placed goal after shaking of another cameronian in a WCQ match played in 2017.

If I'm to go by his stats in the GWG, I don't expect him to be our messiah in Russia.

Looking at the bench for a capable replacement for him leaves one dejected. As there is no one to call on when things don't go as planned. We might just be towing the same path of Keshi's 2014 world cup team. How? We took a less inform and goal drought experiencing Emmanuel Emenike to the World Cup as our main point man, backing him with another toothless striker in Shola Ameobi and expecting both players to perform a miracle by doing the impossible. Alas, we all knew how it all ended.

Emenike and Ighalo seems to be the same kind of players. They're flash in the pan and inconsistent. Enough of these: he brings more to the team than scoring goals, enough of all these 'hold up plays', pressing ability etc... The first and main role of a 9 or striker is to put the ball into the net. All other things a striker brings are just additional.

Finally, if we must do well, we need two potent point, Clinical and unforgiving Strikers who can atleast convert 1 out of every 3 chances created.

Question is who will we be crossing to?? Ighalo isn't a great header of the ball.
but you know that crosses are not meant for headers alone. they can disrupt a team's defence in a way dribbles and passes do not(as in its own way) and it saves energy. this is a serious deficiency in our game.

Iwobi's fourth goal against Argentina was from a cross whipped in by Musa.
agreed but crosses are not a part of our game. its very glaring that it is not. i put it down to the fact that our wide men are not good crossers of the ball.

Hey guys I just watched that nigeria vs serbia game again with clear head and no tension, I know Joel Obi didn't play that well but I think he has something to offer the team. He wasn't has bad as we are all making it sound like, yes he misplaced some passes but he seem to have a dynamism to his play that Onazi, Ogu, and Agu doesn't have..his set piece wasn't too bad, a few more practise with the team and a better understanding might unfold.

Regarding Ebuehi, he tends to shy away from physical battles but he is more technical and reads the play well..him and ekong was just to soft regarding that second goal when that guy dribbled both of them and they didn't foul him. I would give Ebuehi benefit of doubt because I'm still playing actively and I know when you are recovering from groin injuries, you are scared of stretching your legs because of fear of the groin..you need a couple of games that would truly give you confidence its gone..

You could pass fit for a game but a lil snap tackle or stretch could make u feel a little pain there..this would stop you from commiting 100% in tackles..I'm talking from experience regarding this injury, I played for my city, for my university and I constantly struggled with it...Groin injury = minimum of 6weeks to recover and trust me you are not at 100% after 6weeks...I doubt he has had this injury for 3weeks..

Almost all the teams that I've watched- Germany, Spain, South Korea, Portugal, Egypt whip in crosses. Only Nigeria doesn't do that. We are really crippled in the wings. Dribbling and passing towards goal is a waste of energy when instead of running you can send the ball on an errand through well delivered crosses.

If u are in dire need of those crosses then call up the master crosser himself "Samuel Kalu" also bring in Sadiq to nod them in

for players like agbo he keeps inviting and not playing them...leaves me with worries...

I believe if we can just get our midfield and attack right....the problem wit the defense and goal keeping unit will be minimized.

especially in that striking option...I will want other players to be
tried...like dessers, umar even ajayi let's see what they bring to the table.....

but the dude is not complaining..neither is the coach..
his time I believe will come.....for now let him stick to the bench...
he is helping in trainings I believe...

I'm sure you're one of those folks that will never accept that Joel really flopped big time in his previous spell in SE... A chance of such magnitude, but he was too ordinary to utilize it. But you're always ready to get at any length to lament about Ighalo's "woes" and "inabilities".

Stop talking as if we have a Xavi and Inieata in midfield, Mr. Ighalo is a proven striker. Really funny how You mention Dessers and co. A Dessers that's struggling for game time at a lowly Utrecht.

No striker in this world would ever find his feet with the current crop of SE midfielders who are only equivalent to amateurs whenever Mikel is not present in the fold. This speech of yours is totally out if place, I must say.

I believe this friendly would have been more useful if the fringe players were left to play...
by so doing who knows we would have found capable replacements for some roles like the striker or midfield role....

]Thank you Sir.

I think some see it as a taboo to criticise Rohr, forgetting that Nigerians have seen different super eagles foreign mangers like Father Tiko,Otto Gloria,Manfred Hoener,Clemens Westerhoff, Bonfrere Jo,Phillipe Trousier,Thijs Libreght,Berti Vogts.

On Agbo continue invitation i still repeat it something is fishing and only Rohr can explain what is really going on,nobody else.

Our defence struggles against crosses too. And it takes only highly defensively strong teams to deal with crosses. Please watch Germany v Brazil recent friendly that Brazil won 1-0. Germany wan kill Brazil with crosses. Eventually sha it was from a cross that Brazil pipped them.

God bless you bro. Immediately I read that Ebuehi had groin injury, I said to myself what's this groin, groin I've been hearing about since forever. I checked the meaning of groin and I shook my head.
Yesterday in the heat of the argument with my fellow eagulians I kept emphasing two points: the human body is not a machine and I asked another the meaning of groin injury. But I was baffled that them began to talk like they've never been sick and recovered forever in their lives. They took a mechanical view of the whole thing. At a point i wanted to tell them that how I wish we could get the perspective of a footballer cos experience is the best teacher. Never knew you are one. Nobody could argue against the fact that the boy was recovering from an injury. He even winced in pain and he was hesitant in making tackles.

Criticism should be fair. It should not just be for the purpose of scoring cheap points or taking pot shots at the coach as was disappointingly done yesterday.

please mention the inform strikers we have at the moment .... not strikers in the backwater league.
Ezenwa- NPFL
Uzoho- Spain (2nd Division)
Shehu- Turkey
Ebuehi- Netherland
Ekong- Turkey
Omuero- Turkey
Idowu- Russia
Echiejile- Belgium (2nd Division)
Onazi- Turkey
S. Moses- Belgium
Musa- Russia
Ighalo- China
captain Mikel- China...

If you check the above list of players you'll find out that they play in your so called "BACKWATER LEAGUES" and don't forget that these same players make up the core of the SE.

So, having seen this, why do we make exception rules to other Nigeria players performing in the same leagues as the players given above? Is that not double standard?

We are too quick to run down some monikers here who clamour for the inclusion of players from these same leagues.
