Anthony Joshua defeats Joseph Parker to unify the heavyweight division at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff

Anthony Joshua unified the heavyweight division as he defeated Joseph Parker by unanimous decision at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The three judges scored the fight 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110 as Joshua won the WBO heavyweight title, adding it to his IBF, WBA and IBO belts.


It was a cagey fight throughout, with neither man managing to land any major shots. There were brief moments where the fight came alive, but in the main it was quiet.

Referee Giuseppe Quartarone received a lot of criticism in the fight, as he failed to let the boxers exchange during a lot of the action.

After the fight, Joshua called out WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder for another unification fight, where a win would make Joshua undisputed champion.

On the undercard, Manchester fighter Anthony Crolla picked up a unanimous decision win against Edson Ramirez, and David Price was knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in the fifth round.

I believe AJ is a powerful puncher but I don't regard him as a great boxer. Most of the boxers he fought were journeymen.

For this bout, I want Parker to win because I always gun for the underdog in boxing bouts. Moreover, I love Parker as a person and I have all his videos on a tape. I don't hate AJ and if he wins tonight, all good.

It is the fact.

It is bitterness when you question Parker's credentials by asking who has he fought. I simply asked a counter question "who has AJ fought?"

People only mention Klischko who was already 41 and had not fought for 2 years.

If you accuse me of bitterness and you fail to accuse the anti Parker crowd of bitterness, then you are being partial.

This fight can end quickly. It doesn't take anything away from the skills of either boxer. I have been a boxing fan since I was a kid and I was in a boxing club and would have taken up the profession but for my mother. So, I know what boxing entails. If it is AJ's good day, he may even knock Parker out in less than a minute.
