I stumbled on this rich thread a few days ago and i must really appreciate all the good advice here. I 'm a 42 year old medical doctor who works in a university health centre for 8 years now, gross salary is about 390,000 per month. i'm married with 3 children, travelled to UAE 2 years ago with my family and to the UK as a student in the early 2000's. Applied for a tourist visa to visit some colleagues and family members for 10 days this year. what are my chances? |

cosade: My brother, i respect your response there but i guarantee you some people have done it the way you suggested and still were denied. The truth is these vo's use strong ties to the homeland as collateral but there are Nigerians who abandoned strong ties and overstayed their visa with calculation to become US residents. Let's think about this for a moment. The whole selection process is not standardized, it's all "discretionary". It's like a taste test to pick which dish is best in a cooking competition. Judges will grade differently. That's the fvck we are faced with when you walk up to a vo (judge) who has a sniffle and inflammed nostril that morning and could not get a whiff of your delicacy to rank you top. We are wasting money. We are supplying the funds that sustain operational cost for the US Consulate and Embassy and they reward us with humiliation. I know, not all applicants are qualified and must necessarily be denied, nonetheless, our acceptance rate ought to be far more impressive than what it is. This guy you respond to should be given a visa going by his posted interaction with the vo. Look my brother, there are certain elements in the Nigerian society that have proven track records of self-starter and competencies, and are crime free. Those elements are a gain to the American society even if they left on a pretense of returning to Nigeria but remained behind in US. This guy falls into that category and the discretion should have taken this into consideration. US does not want dependents, economic burdens on their social welfare system. Does this guy look like somebody that will go line up for their welfare checks? This is fvckery! 5 Likes |

BabaRamota1980: There is a lot of speculation here and you ascribe to US VOs superhuman powers. They have less than 3 minutes to interview you, how do you expect them to tell who is genuine or not? Yes there are a lot of Nigerians who have a lot to add to the US, but there are just as many Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Germans, French, Jews. in fact, one could argue that those nationalities have added more to the US than the Nigerians you argue for... US VOs do not reward Nigerians with humiliation, we simply humiliate ourselves by choosing to traffic in dishonesty. 9 Likes |

TWoods: It is human to be dishonest. It is righteousness to be truthful. There are Americans that enter Nigeria on pretense of business but end up doing something else. I said this before, Americans have lost touch with humanity. The pentecostal church rip-off and end time pastors is an invention of America and we see how our continent is corrupted with their crusade. Do we deny them access to come in for business? No. Why do vo's always have suspicion about our intent. Are their pentecostal scammers and criminals better than us? 2 Likes |

BabaRamota1980:Yes. The heart of man is desperately wicked. Does that mean it should be actively encouraged or even ignored? I think not. Yes. Likewise Nigerians also go to several other countries and engage in other activities especially shady ones. Now if Nigeria and it's government wish to allow corruption is, should America be blamed for applying stricter measures? How many American websites have you seen where they ask how they can misrepresent in order to get a Nigerian visa? Or where they reapply over and over and over after being refused for lack of ties or misrepresentation? If u have seen, kindly point me there. The energy used in bashing another Nationality for doing what they want to do to make their country greater ( including but not limited to collecting money from gullible Nigerians) should be channeled into making Naija better. omobendel24. People who believe that it is now that America wants to start to monitor social media accounts are like the proverbial ostrich with their heads in the sand. If i was the united states and i had the technology I would create algorithms with specific search criteria to sift through all email and phone associated accounts. It will also correlate travel pattern and varying degrees of associations with people. Then i would let a few non-dangerous ones in to confuse conspiracy theorists like myself. I would do this because the world is a very wicked place and many want to add chaos to their wickedness. I would have done all these a long time ago. Then again what do i know. i probably watch too much flash, arrow, supergirl and DC legends of tomorrow. Oh and supernatural too. . |

LadyGuinivere: What you wrote here is a constant; it is a given, that countries will implement policy measures to gate and filter access into their countries, whether for visit or immigration. At US Consulate, interpretation and application of that policy at the front desk is not uniform. There is no baseline or standard, each vo is exercising discretion. It is justified for people that say they need prayers and divine guidance and intervention in their interview. If I go to vo A and im denied, it's likely vo B or C may have approved me if I had interview with them and not A. This is chance appearance. A gamble! We have seen from testimonies here that people get approved with far less merit than others with more ties. It is subjective what the vo rules as satisfactory proof of ties.....or rather, a truthful visitor! I can suggest a better approach. The interview should be infront of a panel of 3 or 4 vo's. An applicant submits documents ahead and defends his purpose verbally when called to face the panel. The pre-submission also serve as a pre-requisite stage to filter out non-qualifiers. Those who do not meet pre-requisites are never invited to the panel, period! The pre-requisite will be an implementation of US StatecDepartment policy and a true test of merit for intended visitors. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by BabaRamota1980: 11:43am On Apr 01, 2018 |
TWoods: You are just throwing out phrases, your logic is warped. First, there is no argument, this is conversation. Second, there is a treaty between Nigeria and US for trade and cultural exchange. Therefore all Nigerians are eligible to apply for US visa just as all US Citizens are eligible to apply for Nigerian visa. Those who apply choose to exercise the rights conferred under the Terms of Treaty. It is wrong to view their choice as an illegitimate exercise. Third, the UN Charter has gone through several reviews and given birth to new interpretations of Sovereingty. Politically Nigeria is at war. We have two wars and both are acknowledged globally. Bokoharam and fulani herdsmen. Each has proven to be life threatening and aimed to achieve ethnic cleansing. I am flabbergasted that Nigerians are not applying under the UN Refugee clause to emigrate. It took less than this for US to open its borders to Sudanese refugees. My guy, put jokes aside, don't stereotype Babaramota by name or by polygamous marital status. I will school you on international politics. Focus on vo interview, leave discussion on Sovereingty alone. 8 Likes |

BabaRamota1980:Who privacy epp? When it comes to privacy over security i chose security please! I would rather walk naked and be safe than fully clothed and be at the risk of being killed by a useless terrorist that does not value his life. Was it not a Nigerian that raised airport security awareness then after he attempted to blow up a bomb in a plane? Gallant passengers disarmed and restrained him. Or should i talk about the victims of September 11th? Do you think that any of them would have minded that the government snoop in phones if that would have saved their lives? What is the highest that will happen when they check your phones or social media account? That you have two wives and currently negotiating for a third? That you have a child outside wedlock that your wife doesn't know about? Or maybe you were chatting about relocating to Canada from the US? I mean what is in your privacy that will make the world gape as if there is anything new under the sun? Most Americanas that complain of privacy are living in an illusion. Many people want to destroy their wonderful life and they are there complaining of privacy. I see it like a woman wanting to give birth. You must remove your clothes for the child to come out. If you don't want doctors to see your private part then STAY IN YOUR HOUSE or you can equally decide not to give birth. Haba baba! 3 Likes |

I dont think my contributions here is helpful to the discussion and advisories offered to travelers. Im a critic of the interview process, opposite of what the contributors here are doing. So Im taking leave from the thread. I believe the intake and interview process can be improved to match the unique case in Nigeria. BabaRamota1980:Please explain the type of support biko. The time that many would have used to be nice to fellow citizens of Nigeria and encourage them in the Lord is being exhausted by fraudsters. Just the other day one of us opened a thread on how he got Canadian citizenship very easily. Immediately JW showed up the OP accused JW of being an agent. Right on that very thread he got more than 18likes with many supporting him to carry on. JW bring up one old thread like that when come open men eyes. Other gallant guys enter the OP posts root out all the OP misdemeanor. The OP begin delete things so that e go leggo. JW resurrect the things before the thread finally lock. So this work when we work nor rish patriotism? 1 Like |

BabaRamota1980: So far, I adjudge this post as the best from BabaRamota. Save for the few words I don't like, I would have said I agree with him absolutely. Having said that, let me point out that the I advice gave is only help self employed US visa seekers better articulate themselves. I can personally relate to most of the issues you have raised. I work with a very reputable institution and travel to US very frequently on G visa, but had a very unpleasant experience when I applied for B1/B2 visa. I once shared that experience here, see attached. I have also stated here before, that I prefer the UK's method of assessing visa applicants to US style.
