The Yoruba will vanish from the face of Nigeria within 50yrs. This will happen because of the combination of the following: 1) a prolonged inter-cine civil war among the Yorubas which will begin almost immediately after Nigeria's balkanization 2) Cultural erosion of the Yoruba language and customs after the Sokoto annexation of all Odua The north will pitch yoruba brothers among themselves and provide military support to all sides involved in a civil war. When they have done 98% of the job killing themselves, Sokoto will invade and conquer Odua THROWBACK come and lament here 1 Like 1 Share |

OP is making an interest point. The Yorubas may have not learn their lessons from the past. If not for British colonial interference, the Yorubas were engaged in a body genocidal civil war. For those interested in Yoruba history I will post an ebook with this message. |

Adeba01: The 19th century wars were not genocidal. It was a struggle to fill a vacuum left by the fall of Oyo. It was normal. Europe and Asia have fought several of such wars of reconsolidation of power in the past. Heard of the Thirty Years' War? The Napoleonic Wars? Yorubaland would have stabilized on its own in time if the British hadn't shown up. Ibadan would have established themselves as a power in the West; Ilorin in the north; Ogedengbe would probably have succeeded in turning the Ekitiparapo into an empire controlling the east; and life would have returned to normal. 2 Likes 1 Share |
