Anambra to pay new minimum wage in July
By Dom Ekpunobi, Onitsha | 27 March 2018 | 3:10 am
Willie Obiano
Anambra State workers would from July this year begin to earn a new minimum wage.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, who announced this during his first post exco press briefing at the Government House, Awka, said that although the minimum wage would have taken off in April, the state had to wait for the Federal Government pronouncement on the issue, so it would not work against the laws of the nation.
He also announced that Anambra is set to launch a 50-year development plan for a sustainable development of the state.

The Commissioner said a committee to handle the take off and running of the development plan would be inaugurated within the next two weeks.
He said the state would witness faster growth and asked for the cooperation of all and sundry in order to enable Governor Willie Obiano realise his development goal in the state.
He said although the governor achieved a lot in his first tenure, he has plans to make Anambra the most competitive state in the country.
Adinuba said that the secretariat in Awka would soon wear a new look, while two bridges would be constructed at the Regina Ciely Junction in Awka and at Orumbanasa area of the state adding that the Orumbanasa bridge would be a military bridge.
The state government, he said, had also decided to dualise the Awka road in Onitsha and warned that street trading in Onitsha would no longer be tolerated.
He said the local council election was stalled by litigation pending in the court adding that as soon as they were discharged , the election would be conducted.

I think this year's biometric is broken down into various segment. First it was update profile, then head count, then personnel audit and I think now its the turn "DATA VERIFICATION". Whatever that one mean, don't ask me. Let's watch how the next week roll!

This is cheap propaganda ... Imagine that they would have paid minimum wage since April but had to wait for Federal government, we're not kids in politics.

left for me alone, I don't think there will be any more biometrics exercise this year, cause they've gotten what they want via our last audits, which is basically to mop out retirees who refused to leave the system, that's why you can edit every details in your portal but can't edit your DATE OF BIRTH

- The FAAC meeting for the statutory allocation to the three tiers of the Nigerian government ended in a deadlock on Tuesday, March 27, but this has been resolved - Members of the committee were reportedly earlier not comfortable with an underpayment of N37 billion by the NNPC - At the reconvened meeting, N647.39 billion was shared among all the tiers of government The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) finally ended the crisis that rocked its meeting on Tuesday, March 27, as it finally disbursement a total of N647.39 billion to the central, state and local governments in the country. The success of the meeting, according to reports, was because of the intervention of the finance minister, Kemi Adeosun, who reconvened it on Wednesday, March 28. The meeting held at the headquarters of the finance ministry and was presided over by Adeosun. The Punch reported that out of this amount, the federal government received N270.8 billion, states got N173.75 billion and the 774 local government councils were allocated a total amount of N130.9 billion. READ ALSO: Breaking: Tinubu reacts as President Buhari opposes Oyegun's tenure extension The report said the committee further allocated the sum of N57.35 billion to the oil-producing states based on the 13 percent derivation principle while N14.55 billion was returned to the revenue generating agencies as coat of revenue collection. The meeting of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), which was convened on Tuesday, March 27, to consider and approve statutory allocations between the three tiers of government for February, 2017 ended in deadlock, The Punch has reported It was learnt that the committee could not approve the allocation to the federal, state and local governments as a result of what was claimed as discrepancies in revenue figures presented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Presided over by the finance minister, Kemi Adeosun, the other members of the committee are the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Alhaji Ahmed Idris; commissioners for finance from the 36 states; representatives of revenue-generating agencies, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the NNPC, among others. According to Idris, the committee came to the decision to postpone the meeting after it discovered that the revenue remitted by the NNPC into the federation account was understated. Idris, who spoke with journalists after the meeting, revealed that submissions made at the meeting by the members of FAAC resulted in the decision to postpone the meeting pending the reconciliation of the revenue figure. FAAC: FG, States, LGs shares N647.39 billion as February revenue

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), on Wednesday agreed to share N647.39 billion to federal, states and local governments as revenue generated in the month of February.
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, said this in Abuja, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the monthly FAAC meeting.
She said after deductions for cost of collections had been made to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs and the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Federal Government received N257.92 billion.
Adeosun said in accordance with the revenue sharing formula, the 36 states governments received N130.82 billion, while the Local Government Councils received an allocation of N100.86 billion.
In addition, she announced that N57.35 billion representing 13 per cent of the mineral revenue generated in the month of February, was also shared among the oil producing states.
To this end, Adeosun said the nation generated N444.29 billion as mineral revenue and N112.99 billion as non-mineral revenue in February.
On discrepancies in figures submitted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), she said she would be meeting with the Group Managing Director to resolve the issues.
She pledged to ensure that the federation was not short-changed by any of its revenue generating agencies.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Commissioners of Finance Forum, Mr Mahmoud Yunusa, said the state governments agreed to collect the available funds so that Nigerians would not have a bleak Easter.
“After the FAAC meeting was suspended yesterday, another meeting was called in the night, where we met, discussed and agreed that the outstanding balance with NNPC would be followed to its logical conclusion.
“However, Easter is approaching and a lot of people will be relying on their salaries for this purpose. I am sure that many people will be travelling and attending weddings.
“So we don’t want to disrupt Nigerians from enjoying themselves this holiday.
“To this end, we looked at the figure made available for sharing and it was more than the money made available last month by more than N11 billion. So give or take, we are not losing,” he said.
Yunusa said the states had agreed to accept the figures as presented by the NNPC temporarily to pay salaries and then later engage NNPC for further discussions and reconciliation.
He said the states plan to meet with the accountants of the NNPC to begin the process of reconciliation within the next 48 hours.
According to him, whatever additional funds come into the federation’s account after the reconciliation will be shared by the three tiers of government as soon as possible in accordance with the revenue sharing
