As far as am concerned, the fellow is a large man & he's in a stance his frame allows coupled with the vest he's wearing after jet lag

EOUL - South Korea has deployed a naval vessel from its regional anti-piracy effort to help in the search after a fishing boat was hijacked by pirates off Ghana, South Korea's foreign ministry said on Saturday.


The ministry said the fishing boat had about 40 crew - mostly from Ghana but including three South Koreans. It said the pirates used a speedboat to take away the South Koreans.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in sent South Korea's anti-piracy Cheonghae unit to the area to try to secure the South Koreans' release, the ministry said.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Facts have emerged as to how the State Security Service, SSS, struck prisoner swap deal with al-Barnawi faction of Boko Haram to release top Boko Haram commander, Hussaini Maitangaran, in exchange with Dapchi schoolgirls.
Daily Nigerian reports that in a statement issued September 9, 2017, the SSS announced the capture of Mr Maitangaran, the mastermind of the deadliest attacks in Kano.
But in a revealing article by Ann Mcgregor, an expert in global security and intelligence, in an international news site, News Plus Views, details of how Nigerian and foreign collaborators are making huge profits in ransom deals with the terrorists were revealed.
“Since 2009, the Swiss have perfected the art of private diplomacy to offer themselves as “neutral interlocutors” in many of Africa’s conflicts.
“That also comes with a price, but one has attracted and discomforted European and US governments is the so called “mediations, ceasefire and release of 105 Dapchi school girls.”
“The puzzle and the jigsaw was the manner of the abduction and release. Boko Haram are keeping in their custody one of the Christian girl among the 110 Dapchi school girls they abducted, Leah Sharibu has refused to renounce her faith.
“However western intelligence sources believe Boko Haram and the mediators Swiss and Nigerians are asking the Nigerian government for more money to pay ransom and further release of six high profile Barnawi faction detainees in the custody of Directorate of State Service. This is creating discomfort.
“The discomfort stem from the collusion and allegation of corruption between the Nigerian negotiation team made of the Director-General of Departments of Security Services, Mr Lawal Daura, the Nigeria’s Interior Minister, General Abdulrahman Dambazau, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe the foreign policy chief and the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari on one hand and the Swiss Embassy team in Nigeria and personnel of Human Security Department of Swiss Foreign Ministry.
“The Swiss intelligence officer, Pascal Holliger along with local accessories, Mustapha Zannah, a lawyer who run a private school in Maiduguri that gives free education to the orphan-children of Boko Haram fighters — the school was established and funded by the International Islamic Relief Organisation, a Saudi-based charity organization, on United States Department’s list of charities with ties to terrorist organisations and Aisha Wakil, facilitated the ransom payment of €5million euro and swap of top Boko Haram commanders in the custody of Mr Lawal Daura.
“The biggest concession made so far is the release of Hussaini Maitangaran, who spearheaded several deadly attacks in Kano, including Central Mosque attack, which killed more than 1,000 people. He was arrested by the DSS on 31th August 2017. The release was part of Dapchi school girls swap deal,” Ann wrote in the article published on March 28.
According to SSS’ September 2017 statement, Mr Maitangaran, a well known senior commander of Islamic State of West Africa, ISWA, “has been on the Service and Nigeria Army radar since 2012, when he spearheaded the armed attacks on the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone I, on 20th January, 2012, as well as other public places in Kano. MAI-TANGARAN was also responsible for the deadly explosive attacks against worshippers at the Kano Central Mosque as well as an attack on a military formation in Yobe State in 2015, which claimed hundreds of lives.”
The SSS last year also said that Mr Maitangaran is an IED expert, who “had been prepping and priming others for the perpetration of suicide bombing attacks carried out by the group in the past within the North-East region.”

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE 2018 INTER-COMMAND COMBAT SPORTS COMPETITION KICKS-OFF IN UYO

The third edition of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Inter-Command Combat Sports Competition kicked-off yesterday, 3 April 2018, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The event tagged “Uyo 2018”, will be featuring over 600 participants drawn from the Headquarters NAF (HQ NAF) Abuja and its 6 Commands located in different parts of Nigeria. The participants will be competing in various sporting events including combat boxing, combat swimming, combat relay race, shooting exercise, obstacle crossing, taekwondo, judo as well as tug of war. The competition, which is an annual regimental sporting event, is part of efforts aimed at continually promoting combat fitness and esprit-de-corps among personnel. It is also aimed at enhancing effective service delivery, which can only be achieved when personnel are physically and mentally fit.

While declaring the competition open, the Executive Governor of Cross Rivers State and the Special Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony, Professor Benedict Ayade, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Professor Ivara Esu, lauded the NAF and its leadership for making the physical fitness of its personnel a priority. He added that it is indeed a smart move as it is virtually impossible to separate efficient service delivery from a sound mind in a sound body. He therefore assured the NAF of the continuous support of the Government and people of Cross River State in ensuring that the NAF continues in its bid to make the country safe for all.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, earlier in his remarks, reiterated the importance of physical fitness to a fighting force. He noted that physical fitness remains the cornerstone of military combat readiness and hence, the NAF leadership’s decision to sustain the annual 10 km walk/jog competition, quarterly route march exercise and the combat sports competition. Air Marshal Abubakar explained further that the willingness of the Service to continue to enforce physical fitness among NAF personnel could be predicated on one of the key drivers of his administration, which focuses on comradeship and regimentation. The CAS then took the opportunity to encourage all Nigerians to be law abiding, as the NAF, while working with other security agencies, would be decisive in dealing with any group that attempts to subvert the Constitution of Nigeria.

The Chief of Administration at Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Yahaya, who welcomed dignitaries and participants to the event on behalf of the CAS, explained that the competition would afford the NAF as well as the people of Akwa Ibom the opportunity to interact and sustain the good relationship that had existed between them over the years. He assured all of the integrity of the competition, as it would be officiated by a combination of military and civilian officials from the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.

Shortly after the march past by the various NAF Contingents, which attracted a rousing round of applause from the crowd, the Combat Sports Flag was hoisted while an oath was administered on participants and officiating officials towards ensuing fair play and justice. Meanwhile, the combat relay race took place among the 7 participating teams today to signify the commencement of the competition in earnest. It would be recalled that HQ NAF emerged tops at the 2017 Edition of the Competition and would be hoping to hold onto the title. The Combat Sports Competition is scheduled to end on Friday 6 April 2018, when the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, is expected to declare it closed in a colourful closing ceremony.

AYEM AKPATUMA: TROOPS NEUTRALIZE BANDITS, RECOVER ARMS

Troops deployed in Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA while on patrol along Dogon Dawa _ Damari road in Kaduna State killed two suspected criminals and recovered two AK 47 rifles. Other items recovered include three magazines and 88 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Also, troops deployed along Rigasa _ Airport road on 2 April 2018 ran into an ambushed by suspected bandits. Two soldiers were wounded in the encounter and are presently receiving treatment.

Similarly, troops successfully repelled an attack by another suspected bandits in Buruku Benue State.

TROOPS INTERCEPT ARMED HERDSMEN IN BENUE STATE

Troops deployed in Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA on 3 April 2018 intercepted large number of Armed herdsmen in Asom village, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a tip off.

The bandits on sighting the troops at Ukaa and Babban Ruwa area opened fire on them. One herdsman was killed during the encounter.

Similarly, troops on patrol on 3 April 2018 rescued two persons shot by suspected herdsmen along Gbajimba -Kaseyo road.
