Game farming will only work if hunting is legalized......If people can't economically benefit from farming certain animals then they wont farm it!!

Kenya would be an outstanding hunting destination(As it was before the 80s) so i can't see how a well regulated and managed hunting policy can possibly fail.

Things might be returning to reality!

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has sparked debate after he appointed former Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) director David Western to chair a task force to research on hunting and selling of wildlife products and trophies.

Dr Western’s appointment to chair the task force “to review policy and laws on direct commercial exploitation of game” comes just weeks before the term of KWS Board of Trustees chairman, Dr Richard Leakey, expires.
https://www.nation.co.ke/news/CS-Balala-picks-ex-KWS-boss-Western-to-head-wildlife-/1056-4366582-xauvqaz/index.html

Dr Western was a trained conservationist and Leakey was is,actually a very very shady dude. While hunting was officially banned many of his buddies had hunting on their private ranches particularly in Laikipia, N Kenya. He instituted a semi apartheid system based on personal loyalty wherein those who followed his unscientific dogmas became highly paid KWS directors while the lowly wardens were paid 1% of the formers almost 8 k $ pm. He also influenced tenders and deliberately shunted aside experienced officers who disagreed with his high school wildlife dogmas.
That's no surprise since even at the National Museums of Kenya he operated on a mafia like system of unaccountability, vindictiveness against perceived threats and dodgy financial dealings-here's a reminder from his days as ex head of CS.

The charges against Richard Leakey stem from a letter he is alleged to have written to Kenya's attorney general urging him to drop fraud charges against the local subsidiary of the Dutch bank ABN Amro.

Mr Leakey allegedly said the Kenyan government was concerned the case against the bank was causing strain on Kenya's relations with the Netherlands and that it would be in the national interest to terminate it.

Shortly after the letter was reportedly sent, the Attorney General did terminate it.

The man who has brought the private prosecution against Mr Leakey is a flower grower called John Nottingham.

He had accused ABN Amro of bank fraud. He has now alleged that Mr Leakey abused his power whilst in office and caused the case against the bank to collapse.

It will not work because Kenyans are conservative in nature. You would have protests all over the place.

You've no idea what that bolded part sounds like to average Kenyans. Almost like 'Kenya would be an astounding colony for free labor'. Very sensitive! They are up to a bruising battle to legalize hunting.
Game farming alone is raising emotions.

Just for interest sake, what was your view(if you had one) on hunting/conservation policies in pro hunting countries like SA and Namibia when you were still strictly against hunting?

Your literally the first person that I've ever talked to that went from strictly anti hunting to actually considering hunting as a viable conservation tool that could be utilised(very open minded!!!) what change you're stance on the matter?

I used to see it as repulsive, and the videos and pictures only made it worse. How about the conservation status in Namibia, we can look to them as well just in case it doesnt necessarily work everywhere as it does in SA. Maybe our problem has nothing to do with poaching but some other things.

I looked at the data/ reports. was very embarrassed when I tried to compare SA and Kenya in terms of conservation. Its obvious beyond any reasonable doubt that hunting as a means of conservation is better than banning it and then having no money to deal with poaching, and the poachers continuing to do their thing. Its better if people can kill animals legally and pay for it so that other animals can be better taken care of, as opposed to poachers killing animals illegally and paying nothing. In any case the time the hunters are in the field is likely to be at least partly sufficient to keep poachers away (assuming poachers also do it during the day). The money can also be used to do many other stuff like protecting habitats etc. As a nation we are paying the price for pretending not to see. But hey, old habits die hard !

Another bus terminal loading after the ikeja and TBS terminus. It's located at Oyingbo
More loading, like the Oshodi bus terminal.

The governor of Lagos has promised to change the face of public transport in Lagos. My fellow African's come and visit this city and experience life.

- TBS terminal
- Ikeja bus terminal
- Oyingbo bus terminal under construction
Other iconic projects in transport includ Oshodi transport interchange, construction of more bus lanes and terminals, the Lagos blue line rail project,

believe me there are videos out there that are very repulsive, a true hunter will always ensure an animal is killed as ethically as possible and with the utmost respect.....

Namibia literally follow an identical hunting policy to ours in fact they are even less strict to which animals can be hunted...... They even occasionally sell black rhino permits (for selected animals) for around $300 000.

If only more people were as open minded as you!! Fact is you don't have to be a hunter or even like hunting.... Hell you can even hate hunting which is 100% fine, just don't be blind to the fact that hunting = conservation.

$300,000 for one rhino? Insane! I need my own ranch.
That explains why hunters feel compelled to share their escapades online. I would also make sure the world knows I spent that kind money to kill an animal.

But its true hunting is a viable method of conservation. I think to make it more likeable we should demand that hunters (especially white ones) wear Maasai or Samburu garb and they hunt only with spears. We want to see how manly they are. And no cars once in the theatre! They face the animals in a way they also have a fair chance to kill them or at least put up a fight. A little equality cant be so bad
