adycatus: I think u should wait for about 4months to reapply. If u apply asap there's a tendency to get a negative response since there's no dire reason for u to travel. I wish you all the best in your future application. Can u please share your transcript? |

Quick one please, while traveling down to Nigeria with baby, does the baby's US passport need a Nigerian visa on it if the Nigerian passport can't be gotten (probably due to booklet shortage) or will the VOA suffice? Donno if I'm making sense tho or asking the right question or "we" are just returning with US passport & VOA acceptance printout? |

MamaOO:Very true. I know what I saw when I tried switching the lighter infant one between cars. Again, there were days I forgot to switch and we ended up stranded . Not ready for such experience again. I'll do the needful. Thanks so much |

adycatus:Few questions 1- when you travelled to have your baby how long did you stay 2- During your 221G appointment, what question did the VO asked and what were your response. My wife had similar 221G appointment, they picked on her travelled history to the US she was able to defend herself and her Visa was reissued. 1 Like |

blackedwin: I travelled on 9th April 2016 and came back 15th june 2016 when i went to have my baby cos i needed to go back to work. The Vo asked myself and hubby where we work, we told him, he ask how many kids we have, we said two and he asked where they were given birth to, i said the first child in Nig and the 2nd child in the US. He said i applied for visa renewal in feb 2016 and had my baby may 2016 and i didn't indicate in my drop box renewal that i was going to have my baby when i knew i was pregnant. I told him that wasn't the intial plan, the plan was for vacation until my Obgy doctor referred me at the last minute to a doctor friend in the US since i already had a valid visa following the constant lost of 5pregnancies prior to this pregnancy and i wrote a letter of intent informing the embassy on change of plan. Vo said that wasn't the procedure and denied us all visa. I even told him i paid all my bills and he refused to have a look at my reciepts and zero balance and statement of bill/ hosp breakdown. This happened in Abuja embassy today |

adycatus: The problem was you didn't apply for b2 while you were obviously very pregnant. They believe you lied or withheld that info and this is normally the consequence; being denied on the next renewal. The fact you paid your bills is like insignificant compared to the crime they felt you committed.... If you do not intend to travel soon, then relax till there is a need or you guys can go somewhere else for vacation.... and later you can apply for b2 when you are pregnant..... |

kaakaa: Thanks for ur advice, i appreciate. But pls i want to ask, can i still do drop box for hubby and son for B1/B2 visa after we were all denied together since they were not the ones that committed the crime. Then i can do my B2 and schedule an appointment wen i get pregnant as i have also started trying for baby no 3. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Tvegas(m): 9:56am On Apr 06, 2018 |
adycatus: After a refusal you can't use Dropbox anymore. one of the preconditions for using Dropbox is that your previous application for visa was granted. And please tone down on the "Committed Crime" phrase you keep using. You were only trying to get the best for your child albeit without the proper information. You are not a criminal. You got one US citizen already let that be a consolation . There are about 1 million dreamers living in the US whose hope of getting the blue passport was dashed by Trump. The ultimate goal is for us to develop OUR own country. Take a long break before reapplying . I know a couple who got their renewal after 3 years. They even went for interview but didn't disclose their pregnancy. The husband and the baby were granted first while the woman got hers a year later. 4 Likes |

Hello House, I was last here in 2015 after I had my first baby in the US. Then we were in Part 3 or so, it’s amazing to come back and find that we are now in Part 6. Good job to everyone who has kept this thread going. There is a goldmine of info here and I have been reading slowly but still a long way from reading up everything which I intend to do. But pls i’d like to make an enquiry. I know this question may have been asked and answered but becos of time constraints I’m yet to see it, so pls pardon me in advance. I applied for a BI/B2 Visa in 2013 to attend an int’l conference. I returned after the conference and a yr later I got Preggy. Subsequently used the visa again in late 2014 to have my baby which came Jan 2015. I paid all my bills and had no issues. In 2016, I applied for another visa to attend the same conference this time with my hubby. It was his first time, we were both granted visas and we travelled with our baby. Now I got Preggy late last year and I want to use the same visa again to have the second baby. Baby is due Early Aug give or take 2 weeks and I intend to travel sometime in July. But the issue is that this visa expires mid Aug meaning that it expires while I’m in the US. I don’t want to run foul of overstaying so my question is do I apply for another visa while this current one is still valid? Or do I take the advise of some pple off NL who says to just show up at POE and I wld be stamped in for 6months if I declare there that I want to stay 2months cos of childbirth? I have written to the lagosniv email to seek guidance on how to proceed but yet to get any reply after 3days. Pls house, kindly advice so I can act quickly. Many thanks in advance. |

Newmumi: This has been answered several times. You can use the visa because the visa allows you into the USA untill the last day it expires. It's the CBP that determines your length of stay not the VISA itself. 4 Likes |

Newmumi: I had same scenario and I decided to just reapply and get B2 to avoid stories that touch. However I do not know if I have been granted yet, I tracked yesterday it showed issued and that I will get it within 10 working days. Don’t know if the issues will be with the 221g Too many uncertainties now. Just do what will make you comfortable. You can decide to use the same visa or renew. 1 Like |

True! One can’t be too careful. Thank you @tvegas too for your reply. What do you know? LagosNIV just replied. Here’s the It mail below. Sorry for the lengthy post: Thank you for contacting the U.S. Consulate, Lagos Nigeria. Your visa is good until the day it expires. You can use it to request to enter the US until February 9, 2017. At the port of entry, CBP will then tell you how long you will be permitted to stay in the country. The visa for a visitor to the U.S. can expire while you are visiting the U.S, Further, you do not need a visa to exit the United States. Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment. You should show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S. your detailed birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that you have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including your living expenses. We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel. If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.
