my fellow nairalanders i need your opinion on this

After service today by 2:00pm i was at home doing nothing, no light, my generator is malfunctioning, my handset is off, so all i could think of was dozing off from 2:30 and i later found myself awake by 4:00.. at this time i was also doing nothing so after doing some thinking and so on i decided to go out alone and buy myself a drink while at the same time see if i could charge my phone which i did.
so after spending like 1hour thirty minutes browsing with my phone i decided to leave (i took only one bottle of beer and i was 100% aware of myself i.e i wasn't being control by the drink. As i was on my way home i met my church secretary, so as we were exchanging greetings she said to me "Bro. i thought you have repented, why is your mouth smelling beer beer". so i wanted to ask her how taking one bottle of alchohol had made me a sinner but she just walked away after making that statement.
so please as a christian are we restrained from taking even a little alchohol?
