MSCI ADDITION FOR 6 APRIL 2018/GENERAL MARKET COMMENT FOR WEEK ENDED 6 APRIL 2018 This market has hit most investors so hard. It is like a period for taking some time off the market and planning the next move. The fund may not make substantial investment for now as the capital gain from the market is at a very low level; see the information below the movements. Due to the state of the market, any purchase now need to be backed up by strong fundamentals to prevent immediate capital loss. I am having these equities on my watch list, but will only buy when my indicator show that there is momentum for positive price movement; Forte Oil, Transcorp, CCNN among others. My safe bet will still be on any equity that will not be affected by any deterioration in the Naira/Dollar rate. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source.

OBAGADAFFI: For now there is no bank that gives single digit for Treasury Bills. First Bank allows you to do Treasury Bills in the primary market with 100k. What you explained up there is secondary market for Treasury Bills, I yet to see a single digit in the secondary market. 1 Like |

Again, based on the woeful result released by Lafarge its obvious that the company has bitten more than what it can chew....I know Alhaji will be willing to bail them out.... I will wait for their Q1 2018 result before I decide what to do with the remaining units i have or load more. |

onegentleguy: Herein was my previous post on LARFAGE WAPCO. ...in the one before it, I had advised folks to SELL off their holding. Of course the analysis therein still stands but with this present YE result, there are now a few more red flags. With admin expense and finance cost in excess of 41B and 43B respectively, on the back of a huge loss in PAT of over 34B(which is more than double the total PAT from the group in their YE 2016 result), any sane investor here should be very worried. ...add that to the far lower than expected huge drop in ROE, EPS plus an over 12B from some funny impairment charges, and u'll begin to wonder if indeed the managers of LARFAGE do not have something up their sleeve. Again for a coy that recently raised a right proceeds of approx N131B to turn around and pay out a total of about N90B in dividends(...an approx 70% pay out ratio from rights accruels) on the back of a loss making year, is to say the least absurd. It's clear that with this result, 2 things are currently playing out; 1) There was more to the fx related shortfall they made us presume was the core curse of their misfortune as at Q3 2017. 2) While LARFAGE WAPCO might have managers, they undoubtedly do not have good money managers. There are lots to say, but in simple terms, If I were an investor in this coy, I would hurriedly SELL without ever given it a 2nd thought. ...and if I am planning to key in in future, I would also wait it out and see if there would be real signs of a turnaround post Q1 2018. ...my 2 cents. 2 Likes |

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) may have moved the ₦0.01 floor if reports by The Nation newspapers are authentic. A price floor is the minimum amount at which a stock can be allowed to trade. The ₦0.10 floor came into effect on the 29th of January 2017. Prior to this, the minimum price floor was fixed at 50 kobo per share (which is also the par value). The Par Value of a share refers to its nominal or face value per unit as stated in a company’s corporate documents, i.e., the Memorandum of Association of the company. The new price floor In addition to a new price floor of ₦0.20, the exchange has also modified some of its existing rules. The minimum movement by which the price of a stock can change has also been lowered to the ₦0.01 (1 kobo). Mum from the Exchange Unlike the issuance of several notices alerting stakeholders of the ₦0.01 rule, the exchange is yet to release a notice on the current price floor. What could have led to the upward adjustment ? Stakeholders in several companies affected by the ₦0.01 rule may have reached out to the NSE. Companies in the insurance sub-sector were hard hit, as investors used the ensuing liquidity caused by the rule to exit. Over 50% of the companies currently trading at the ₦0.20 mark are insurance firms. Many of the firms are plagued by poor corporate governance, little or no price appreciation and a dividend drought. https://nairametrics.com/nigerian-stock-exchange-moves-minimum-price-floor-to-₦0-20/amp/?__twitter_impression=true |

Dwizeone: I agree with you. The profits are inbetween the lines. Ive done 20% plus an extra 5% on transcorp alone this month. And most times i try to get in on tuesday/wed and get out on friday. Unless friday ends with full bid. Diamond is not really clear for now. But in between those 4 stocks are good opportunities 2 Likes |

emmanuelewumi: Anyone who wishes to buy Treasury Bills but does not have up to N50 million must buy through a bank in the secondary market. Whatever First bank is allowing you to buy at N100k is secondary market. And the interest rate for N100k, isn't same for N1m, or N10m. |
