My dear, they didn't send me a bill. The only statement they sent me had N/a or something on it and said I should expect a proper bill which never came. Called the number on the statement several times gave DOB of baby but they said there was no trace of her in system. Even 'travelled' back to hospital to meet with Sheila and she said I was in the clear from hospital point of view. Christine77: |

,,ok.thanks alot .quote author=Fyorgyn post=66554972] If you want to travel July ending you should apply asap. The reason for this is that you MAY be called for interview and getting a date can be a headache! My visa was to expire in November and I applied late September/early October. My passport was returned after like 15 days with a 221g request. This was already mid October. The closest date for interview was November 2nd and I had to be in the US by November 4 for a conference. I got the visa but missed my conference because the US embassy kept my passport for another 15days!!!!!! So please apply to renew your visa early especially if you need to travel.
|

[Thanks alex for the info ,,,,quote author=alexandramylee post=66556237]I can give give you first hand info because I speak from experience. I renewed my US visa a month before it expired through dropbox and I wasn't invited for interview. My Visa was renewed and I only received an email of it's readiness. It's only in very rare cases that you might be invited for an interview, but that's not usually the case.
|

Thnks 4 responding. So i did a spreadsheet of how much it wi cost me flyi g thru NY. Ticket to NY from Lagos, cab fare from Jfk to hotel, 1 night hotel accommodation, feedin lunch and dinner, cab fare from hotel to JFK, baggage fares usually paid on U.s domestic flights, and other possible costs i could think of. Total came to roughly 700. Mea while flying direct is 835. Am i really saving costs? Toddler is a 3 year old girl. If i leave her wth my mum shl hv 2 change schools for the period cos mum is on d mainland yle i stay on d island. Wots d psychological effect of this on her? So mums absence, obviously dad wil only be seein her wknds, changin schools. Are those too many changes? Or she should just stay out of schl completely? Maybe get lesson teacher for the 2.5mnths? Travellin alone so takin her with me will be just too much 4 me 2 handle Confused much!!! quote author=Adebuble post=66539582] If u have the money for Navada kindly buy it cos with preg n travelling its not easy. Then again u can buy NY ticket n buy a local flight in US before u travel, ur family in US can help u with that. When I went for my trip, I left my 2yr old boy back home for 5mths it was not easy but I wanted it that way cos of the pregnancy although my mum came to meet me in US later but I knew it wld b tasking for both of us with my son..so I left him back with his dad.. Then its now depends on the gender, if its a girl pls just take her along..biko.. For passport, I collected the US palie for my girl and am yet to collect Nigerian Passport for her till now cos, I got a Nigerian visa on her US passport....later in the year, I will collect the Nigeria passport for her. I guess the MMA $190 thing is new... For the intent, you can do it in June, if you do it earlier I don't think there is a problem..change of mind can happen at anytime so I think ur good when ever u send the mail... Best of luck.. Well-done people for keeping this trend going..
|

Hello NL, here's my story So far... I got a B1/B2 visa in 2015, was asked if I was pregnant then, responded no. used it sometime in 2016. became preggy after the trip so we started planning on coming here to deliver. Got most of my info from NL, gathered all my documents...doctor's correspondence, appointment letter, change of intent letter and their generic response, bank statement, medical records, fit to fly and cash. Booked VA to New York, 6 hours to Heathrow, 2 hours stop over, 7 hours to JFK. The flight was a comfortable one although entertainment wasn't impressive. Landed at JFK at about past 11pm. My POE story is almost non-existent, except for the fact that the place was crowded like Oshodi and I had to queue for almost 2 hours, just because I declared food! But we know that God works in mysterious ways... Meanwhile I had brought out my envelope of properly arranged and labelled burden of proof. CBP: Hello Me: Hello....I handed over my passport CBP: Oh I can see youre holding something, *points at my envelope*.... Me: Yes, my documents. *he didn't ask to see it* CBP: I can see you have the declaration card, May I see it? Me: I didn't know it was meant to be filled so I just used the self-service machine. CBP: what food did you declare? Me: Nuts and herbs. CBP: ok....*says nothing else, stamps my passport(6 months) and said bye* Me: thank you very much! I went straight for my bags! It was a good thing that I went prepared but I'm elated I didn't have to go through any 'rigourous' interrogation. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed on this platform. My missionary journey contines and it will surely end in praise. 8 Likes |

Eilenora:1. you have done the spreadsheet. apart from the cost, how about the stress - the wear & tear u suffer? I'll advise you travel straight. 2. Your toddler will be fine with your mum. I doubt the changes will have any psychological effect on her. is she used to your mum before now? I was in this situation some years ago. although, I wasn't on birth tourism; I was transferred to another location in Nigeria & I had a 2.5 year old toddler & a 4 months old baby. I wasn't sure how the new place will be & I imagined that it will be stressful caring for 2 small pickins all by myself. so, I left the toddler with my mum in lagos for 1 whole term & went with the baby to my new location! meanwhile, my husband was also in lagos but in another part of lagos. he got to see her only on weekends. she had to change schools, too. it didn't have any psychological effect that I'm aware of on her. but my mind was constantly with her for that 3 months. so the question is, will your mind be at rest leaving her behind. 3. if your MIL is available, can she move into your home for the 2.5 months so that the only change your toddler has is your absence? 4. A 3rd suggestion is, if your budget can accommodate it; go with her and let her attend a daycare the weeks you know you can't cope. But who will stay with her the days you are away for delivery & the days immediately after the baby's birth when u are trying to get yourself? 2 Likes |

Hello People, Please I have a few questions, forgive my ignorance; I currently have a B1/B2 visa expiring in June and I intend to renew via drop-box. However, my passport expires Jan 2019 and my planned trip is in October and I may not be back before the passport expires. 1. Giving the current trend of ‘no passport booklet’, can I travel with my old passport in October even if I have started the process of passport renewal? Just incase it is not ready before I intend to travel. Is this allowed? 2. If yes to my first question, what happens if my passport expires while I am still in the US? And I still haven’t received the new passport. Thank you. |

So, as promised, I went for my interview today with my wife and we were denied by the vo in window 4. Vo: Good morning Me and dw: good morning sir Vo: why are you going to the us? Me: for medical purpose. My wife is pregnant with our first baby and we will like to have him in the US Vo: Which city are you going? Me: Houston, Texas Vo: what do you do? Me; im self employed. I’m into importation and car sales. (Vo nods) I import my cars from USA biggest auction like IAA and Copart Vo: oh you import from UsA? He sound surprised. And I said yes. East coast to be precise Vo: faces wife. What do u do madam Dw: I’m an home maker and I’m also currently running my masters program in University of Ibadan Vo: what do u study? Dw: currently media and cultural studies but my first degree is int’ relations and history.. vo keeps nodding and typing Vo: When is your due date: Dw: 8th of August Vo: how many cars do you import in a month Me: atleast 5 units. I have bill of lading here if you will like to se? He didn’t answer Vo: How long have you been working? Me: 5 years but i started my own company 2yrs 3months ago. He keeps nodding and typing Vo: do you have a dr correspondence? Me: yes, trying to bring it out Vo: lets see if we will get to that. Types for few minutes Vo: Where have u travelled to? Me: south africa in 2016, and as couple we have been to dubai, kenya and tanzania for our honeymoon last year Vo: oh you are married Me: yes we are. Types and bring blue paper with a sober face, sorry your visa cannot be granted and said the reasons is in the paper My wife was dumbfounded coz she was surprised at why we were denied He didn’t check any of our documents. He has been denying people. I was telling my wife before getting to his front that this guy in window 4 with a straight face is just denying everyone and we were praying not to be pushed to his line. Sigh We answered confidently and correctly as We filled the forms our selves The lady in front of us was denied, shes pregnant and going for childbirth also As for me, I’m not worried at-all, but my wife is devastated. Any suggestion and where did we go wrong. Can she apply alone and get a new date before august? |

ozymes: Anchola: If she wasn't specifically asked about her purpose she didn't need to open the discussion. The CBP officer may be less concerned as regards wether she is birthing or not. Secondly He might have seen enough pregnant women for that day to bother. This happened to few people here in the past. If thesame scenario played out at the embassy she is encouraged to declare even if not asked. So Let's not create panic where there is non. Sometimes our oversabi is part of what leads to frequent changes in the US embassy policy. E.g the so-called change of intent letter that was overused. Even those who dont need it will send one and That's why they hardly reply again. 9 Likes |
