There will be little money left to buy the last batch. Then your N1m would have reduced to 250k or 200k.

Agbalowomeri:

What is saying is that when stock A declares dividend, you buy chop dividend, sell then move on to stock B which has declared another dividend, chop, sell etc and at the end you still have your starting capital or more

It worked to some extent around 2013/14 but now stock declare dividend, na reverse gear grin

...Its difficult because of the now very peculiar nature that surrounds the price movement of coys.
Another reason is that nowadays we have more of traders than investors 'within the NSE room'

...Possible but with a very slim chance of success. wink cheesy

most times i sell during earning season to rebuy bck later @ lower price...I have always imagined that most buyers during earning season buy for dividend as price starts to fall rapidly bck to support level after exdiv date for most stocks....

The idea is enter at an entry price where the dividend is not priced in. That way the speculator can make a quick 10% if he is lucky. Never a guarantee

"There is no correlation between dividends and a stock’s performance. In fact, the more a company pays in dividends, the weaker their posture, because they may have to pay high interest rates to replace funds paid out in dividends. It is naive to hold stocks that are going down because they pay dividends. If you are getting a 4 percent dividend and the stock goes down 25 percent, your net yield is a 21 percent loss."

It's much better.

Just so people here know, I'm not doing a contest with anybody. If you want to advice the guy, my comment did not block road.

Using today's exchange rate, flipping $27 doesn't do much for you as an INVESTOR.

You can use that to learn and educate yourself and know how the websites works, but not INVESTING.

so what do you want me to do?

What if they don't need replacing the fund?

Then that will be a different proposition.

But i was trying to highlight the bolded to the guy who wants to do multiple trades, take dividend in all and retain his initial capital..

Ok I get your point.

The guy can't make it easily. It is as if he is the one controlling the prices after markdown such that he steps out and goes into another stock unscathed.

Boys used to do it those days and it worked but the terrain appears to have changed

so what do you want me to do?

I think you have to set out how much you want to make first. 100% is ambitious but it can happen.

Then look into companies you understand. Banks and fmcg companies are my babies, because I understand their business model.

Pick the most familiar stock to you and try to read up a bit on it and ask a lot of questions here. I've gotten a lot of important information here that I didn't see anywhere else.

Have a stop loss position, say if your 50k falls to 35k carry your bag and run. So you can live to fight again.

Don't be in a hurry to open a trading account till you know what you want to buy, so as to prevent itching fingers.

This is my own advice. If anybody wants to say anything contrary, kindly quote the guy.
