but it's not on UI's page ui.edu.ng
It's not all information, especially the new ones, that you'll see on the school's website. Most of them are sent as memos all round the school. There was a time where these kinds of memo were printed, but these days, it's just sent electronically

Meanwhile, within 24 hours of hosting the payment portal (Thursday 12 April 2018), a total of 410 new students had paid their Accommodation Fees.

I knew it. That was exactly what an admissions officer told me this evening when I asked him if there's gonna be a possible reduction in the accom fee. He said "if not for those who has hastily payed their accom fee, the Senate would have reduced it". But I can't blame them, it simply because they are tired of staying at home.
Thanks for the info bro.

The way you confidently type things you are unsure of ehn.

The accommodation fee increment is totally irreversible and was never an issue of discourse even in the senate meeting. These emergency meetings springing up is mainly for the outrageous increase in the clinical training fee.

Here is a quote from the earlier posted piece attributed to the VC by Mathefaro ::

It seems you didn't get my point bro. I knew the emergency meeting was focused on the increment in clinical fees. What i was trying to depict from the post is that i just asked the Admission Officer if the accom fee can still be reviewed during the ongoing senate meeting while i was there cos it just skyrocketed from 14k to 30k which is although out of context .And he said hadn't been all new intakes refused to pay, it may have been reviewed and if eventually they table the matter, the balances for those who has paid won't be refunded. THIS WAS WHAT THE ADMISSION OFFICER SAID, NOT ME.
But from the VC's post, one can logically notice there's been an issue on that but so far 410 students have paid their accom fee within 24hrs the payment portal was launched, there nothing the Senate has to deliberate on again.

Calm down bro. So far your transaction was successful, the rest now lies with UI. I also payed my fees today and this same issue was what took me there cos i don't joke with money.
They have server issues for now but i was assured it'll reflect on my portal very soon.

Only about two thirds of the newly admitted students who had accepted their admission have been cleared as of Thursday, 12 April 2018. The problems encountered are being sorted out and this stage will be concluded by middle of next week. It then became inevitable to postpone the resumption of new students by a week.SITUATION REPORTConsequent upon the above, Senate met today, Friday, 13 April 2018, and approved as follows:New students will now resume on Sunday 22 April. To start lectures on Monday 30 April.Matriculation Ceremony will hold on Friday 4 May, 2018.Returning Students will now resume Sunday, 6 May 2018.To Start Lectures Monday, 7 May 2018.Meanwhile, within 24 hours of hosting the payment portal (Thursday 12 April 2018), a total of 410 new students had paid their Accommodation Fees.No reduction in the Accommodation Fees was entertained by Senate. However, students who are not entitled to hostel accommodation are encouraged to seek alternatives to staying in the Halls of Residence.Fees payable by students of the College of Medicine were reviewed downwards by Senate. The lowest now is #20,000 for students of Biochemistry and Physiology while the highest is #85,000 for MB, BS; BDS.Thank you.

Hmm! I pray o. When it comes to UI matter now, I'll just put my hand beneath my jaw. But seriously there's a lot of work to be done especially in the HOR(virtually all are antiquated including the ones they call best), Teddar hasn't been roofed yet amongst others but i believe all of this can happen in a week.
The only improvement for now is that all A1 rooms per block in some HOR has been converted to kitchenette to limit regular fire outbreaks in rooms as a result of cooking-sleeping and all faulty toilets has been rectified.
So, this should be...

RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIESI have received numerous WhatsApp messages from students, parents, guardians, Alumni/Alumnae and friends ofthe University of Ibadan on arrangements for resumption of academic activities when it was becoming obvious that the dates fixed earlier might be unrealistic.BACKGROUNDOnly about two thirds of the newly admitted students who had accepted their admission have been cleared as of Thursday, 12 April 2018. The problems encountered are being sorted out and this stage will be concluded by middle of next week. It then became inevitable to postpone the resumption of new students by a week.SITUATION REPORTConsequent upon the above, Senate met on Friday, 13 April 2018, and approved as follows:New students will now resume on Sunday 22 April. To start lectures on Monday 30 April.Matriculation Ceremony will hold on Friday 4 May, 2018.Returning Students will now resume Sunday, 6 May 2018.To Start Lectures Monday, 7 May 2018.The Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors will consider the remaining part of the Academic calendar for the 2017/2018 Session, for approval by Senate. It is reckoned that, barring any further disruptions in academic activities, the new session should be concluded by February 2019. It is imperative for all of us to cooperate with Management to ensure that this is realised. It may be pointed out for the records that within the first 24 hours of hosting the payment portal (Thursday 12 April 2018), a total of 410 new students had paid their Accommodation Fees.No reduction in the Accommodation Fees was entertained by Senate. However, the vast majority of the student population, totalling 70%, who are not entitled to hostel accommodation are encouraged to seek cheaper or free alternatives to staying in the Halls of Residence.Fees payable by students of the College of Medicine were reviewed downwards by Senate. The lowest now is #20,000 for students of Biochemistry and Physiology. Students in these programmes have to undertake independent research projects, especially during their final year.Environmental Health Science and Human Nutrition (200 level: 50,000; 300 and 400 Levels: 70,000).MB, BS; BDS; Physiotheraphy;Nursing; Medical Laboratory Science: Preclinical: 70,000Clinical; 85,000Meanwhile, Senate expressed its utter dismay, surprise and disappointment with the actions and in-actions of students of the College of Medicine resident in Alexander Brown Hall for their refusal to obey instructions of the University Senate to vacate their Hall for nearly four days while demarketing the institution and over-dramatising their protests on the social, print and electronic media. Senate further noted that this was unprecendented in the 70-year chequered history ofthe College of Medicine, University of Ibadan!Thank you.Idowu Olayinka
