You are right bro, everything just a way of teasing.

In addition , medical students are spending just 3 years in UI campus, so hall of residents is not a problem that borders me.

However, I couldn't just forget my experience during Putme. A total of about 10 students slept in that small dungeon in Mellanby.

oh lawd! it's a dungeon indeed!

It's referred to as dungeon cos its underground(basement), people from upstairs usually pour water which remains stagnant and breeds mosquitoes, rats also

Now I totally concur. The first search result produced by Google actually gave me insight and educated me on it.

UNN offers it has a major professional course.

Then, going back to the genesis of this discussion, according to the post I quoted, I am now wondering why UI refuses to accept it has a professional course.

I can then conclude UI also need to widen their horizon.

I think the first memo that classified biochemistry, physiology, Human nutrition and MLS as non-professional courses and as such, should be paying nothing more than 20k is not genuine.

Check out the one released by the VC below.

BACKGROUND
Only about two thirds of the newly admitted students who had accepted their admission have been cleared as of Thursday, 12 April 2018. The problems encountered are being sorted out and this stage will be concluded by middle of next week. It then became inevitable to postpone the resumption of new students by a week.

SITUATION REPORT

Consequent upon the above, Senate met today, Friday, 13 April 2018, and approved as follows:

New students will now resume on Sunday 22 April.
To start lectures on Monday 30 April.
Matriculation Ceremony will hold on Friday 4 May, 2018.

Returning Students will now resume Sunday, 6 May 2018.
To Start Lectures Monday, 7 May 2018.

Meanwhile, within 24 hours of hosting the payment portal (Thursday 12 April 2018), a total of 410 new students had paid their Accommodation Fees.

No reduction in the Accommodation Fees was entertained by Senate. However, students who are not entitled to hostel accommodation are encouraged to seek alternatives to staying in the Halls of Residence.

Fees payable by students of the College of Medicine were reviewed downwards by Senate.

The lowest now is #20,000 for students of Biochemistry and Physiology

Environmental Health Science and Human Nutrition (200 level: 50,000; 300 and 400 Levels: 70,000).

MB, BS; BDS; Physiotheraphy; Nursing; Medical Laboratory Science: Preclinical: 70,000
Clinical; 85,000

Meanwhile, Senate expressed dismay and disappointment with the actions and inactions of Medical Students resident in Alexander Brown Hall for their refusal to obey instructions of the University Senate to vacate their Hall for nearly four days while demarketing the institution and overdramatising their protests on the social, print and electronic media.

Thank you.

With the highlighted ones paying same charge, one can conclude they are the only professional courses in the college of medicine

Well as for the total payment including bank charge for accom, mine was N30100 (N100 bank charge) GTBank. But there was an issue at the bank yesterday: the 30k was displaying school fees on their system instead of accom fee so i had to call a link at the Admissions office and he told me i can't pay the accom fee at the bank. He then directed me to a woman at Kuti Warden Office around 4pm where i later payed and that was what brought me to UI yesterday.
But it hasn't reflected on my portal as at this moment. They have server issue for now and i was assured it'll still reflect.
Let's just wait and see...

MLS isn't a professional course. Professional course are courses like medicine(MBBS) , dentistry(BDS) , pharmacy(B. Pharm ) , vet(DVM) , agric(B.agric), physiotherapy etc.

Professionals courses stands on their own and not a minor subset of science or art .

If you were given a BSc in any field, its mostly likely you haven't studied a professional course.
pls hold it on right there
how dare you boldly say mls is not a professional course??
that's an insult to the profession
if you don't know let me enlighten you
mls students spend two yrs in UI main campus and 3yrs in UCH
they write two professional exams before they graduate
after which they complete a one year Compulsory internship
mls is regulated by medical laboratory scientist council of Nigeria (mlscn)
don't come here and be displaying your ignorance

UI accepts mls as a professional course
there must be mistake somewhere when the memo was being typed
if it weren't a professional course the MLS clinical students won't be living in Alexander brown hall

Don't mind him oo.. Mellanby is a very good hall. Hall for fine boys. In fact, historian likes the hall

Maybe he's referring to the hall as a dungeon because it's old.

Your Hall doesn't matter, it won't determine your cgpa bro, let's stop disturbing ourselves over small things like hall. We have beautiful days ahead
I know of a person who wanted to cross from MLS to medicine
he was not allowed to do so because he was told that he can't cross from one professional course to another
