You are very correct. Osayi is a very common name with Okija people but normally a nickname for names like Samuel and Simon.
same with edo.....the binis bear that name too...
osayi....meaning God's Creation.

Chukwudi Godwin osayi, Chinyere osayi, Emeka and Simon ogornna osayi are people I know too well and they have no link with Edo people.

There are overlaps in culture. Osayi is an Edo name as well... Also Edo people (and delta) are fond of giving English names like, Bright, Friday, Amen .. as first names.. If i am to take a guess, I would say Edo based on the name structure.

Awaziem took a direct free kick today that needed a great save from the keeper. It is interesting to see that Ranieri trusts Awaziem enough to take free kicks. He must be taking good free kicks in training.

In the Super Eagles, Victor Moses seems to have been given the role automatically.

Born in Okija , That does not mean he is from Okija....

Where are his parents from?

There is no verifiable link on the wikipedia page, i doubt the authenticity of that information.

I was so happy today that conte benched him...
it's like him playing for Chelsea Fc has gotten to his head....whenever He is in the super eagles he plays with his shoulder high wanna take all the dead balls and keep dribbling even when not necessary and often don't pass the ball.....

he is seriously wasting our free kicks.... I will be so happy if kalu Samuel can be invited to at least compete with him in that wing role.....
he deserves to sit on the bench sometimes...

U might be right but just know that as Okoro is a common name in igbo land, some people in Edo also bear Okoro e.g osas and Stanley Okoro. Same thing with that "osayi" it's common in Edo but Ebonyians and Ananbarians (mainly okija) bear it also.

Did u know that until yesterday, I didn't know Ajala is also a yoruba name. I had always thought only igbos bear the name because I came from a place where our main god is Ajala just as Kalu is the main god of Ohafia, abiriba, Item and Arochukwu people.

Until we get the full details, we can never tell where he's from, all the same, I'm happy he's Nigerian and he identifies with the GWG

It's a yoruba meaning doesn't make it meaningless in igbo.

Ajala (aja-ala) means the ground soil where I'm from. It is the name of a great deity worshipped by my people hence when u come to isuikwuato local government of abia state, u see surnames like, obiajala (the palace of ajala), Ajala (the deity) and kindred such as umuajala (the children of Ajala), ihuajala etc. I succeeded Emeka Ajala as the senior prefect of my school back then in secondary school.

We learn everyday

I pray Awoniyi and Hillary Gong join Anderletch next season as Olayinka returns to Gent. Belgium is really helping us develop our boys.

Obinna Nwobodo Shinning In New Role Behind The Striker At Ujpest, Scores Again

Former Enugu Rangers forward Obinna Nwobodo was once again on target for Hungarian side Ujpest in their 4-2 win over Vasas in a league game in Hungary.

Nwobodo played in his favourite role behind the striker, and the 21 year old who operated mainly from the flanks last season, and as a playmaker earlier this season opened scoring for his team.

His goal sparked them to their first win in five games which saw them suffer two losses in the league, one in the cup and two draws. The win propelled them to third on the log after 26 games.

Personally the goal was the second goal of the season for the failed Liverpool target who is into the second year of a five year deal at the modest Hungarian side.

He is yet to meet expectations in my opinion, He should be tearing this league up..

Hopefully, he impresses enough to go to a better league.

Schalke 04 Favourite To Sign Long Term Target Leon Balogun For Free In The Summer

Mainz 05 and Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Leon Balogun is closing in on a summer move with his contract set to expire in the coming days and no talks about an extension.

Balogun is in the final year of his three years deal with Mainz 05 and his form especially for the senior national team of Nigeria has provoked interest in his services from some clubs in Europe.

However Schalke 04 are the favourite to clinch his signature on a free transfer after a failed move to sign him last season, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Schalke 04 are pushing for a spot in next season UEFA Champions League and they view the 29 year old Balogun, who will represent Nigeria at the World Cup later in the year as a bargain signing as he will come for free.

Talks will reportedly get underway after the end of the current German Bundesliga season where Balogun has played just 13 games, with many suggesting his contractual situation led to the decision to play him less.

Ex Flying Eagles Captain Ajagun On Target Again For Belgium Side Kortrijk

Former Nigeria youth international Abduljelil Ajagun was once again on target for modest Belgium side Kortrijk in their 2-0 win over Lierse in the Belgium play-offs.

Ajagun who scored in their 4-1 win over Waasland-Beveren in the play-offs two weeks ago scored the second goal which sealed victory for his team in the. 58th minute.

He also bagged the assist for the opener scored by Jeremy Perebet in the 38th minute. So far he has scored five goals for Kortrijk with three coming in the regular season while two came in the play-offs.

Now 25 year old the former Panathinaikos midfielder, who spent last season on loan to Dutch side Roda JC has emerged as one of the star players for Kortrijk this season.

The former Nigeria U20 captain who also represented Nigeria at the 2009 U17 World Youth Championship is yet to be capped by Nigeria at senior level, no thanks to the options available to coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr.
