Cutehector:You can go force her to study IT or Agric related course. What do we do about the thousands of subsidized IT and Agric related grads the FG is subsidizing who end up in Banking sector? According to Prof Okebukola, Less than 20% of microbiology grads form UI end up practicing microbiology. The money spend by FG in subsidizing the remaining 80%+ is wasted. That's taxpayers money. Talk about that and leave private people alone. 5 Likes |

nenergy:It is because Nigeria is yet to offer a structural or organized system where the thesis writing by the PHD and master holder can be implement. we have lot of fantastic research rotting in our university shelf that can simply shape the future of this country positively, country such as Germany continue to developed through most of the researched that are outsourced from Fraunhofer, Max-Planck, Leibniz, etc. and likewise many advanced country, Nigeria we begin to develop if we set up a body that will analysed and implement these researched literature instead of using it to decorate university shelf . 3 Likes |

Shedrack777: Could be possible in Nigeria, but the Jamb factor and shitty admission process alone is enough to stagnate your academic goals by 5 years... I left sec school at 14...but here I am 3 years later praying to get admitted while my friend at NJIT will be rounding off soon... 1 Like |

Congratulations to her...Its good to see people who can inspire other women and motivate men as well...not just the rubbish this generation is known for. I know some naysayers will come and fault her Ph.d degree simply because she got it from a private university...or because she's 25 and they feel you need to have graying hair before you can be awarded a doctorate. Na una sabi, if e pain you too much, go carry cane flog Oyedepo and hin board of Regents. 2 Likes |

CodeTemplar: What are you saying? How many jobs exist for microbiology graduates in this country? Add all the job opportunities in the food & beverage industry, healthcare sector etc together, and it would still not be enough to absorb all the microbiology graduates, from our universities. So how is it their fault, if they eventually end up in the banking sector? Or should they starve to death, while waiting for a job in a field related to their area of specialisation? 2 Likes |

HigherEd:For her to have graduated at 25, it is unlikely that she had any years of actual work experience, in the public or private sector. In the past, you needed to show proof of work experience, before being admitted to the Ph.D programme in public universities. I guess that criteria has been waived in private universities. |

laudate:There are some field where it is easier to startup a venture. IT is one of them and Microbiology is another. Can you imagine a Computer Science grad who studied programming riding keke out of joblessness? the fact that a laptop is much cheaper than a keke will interpreted to mean the comp sci grad isn't competent enough to program. Same logic applies for Microbiology grad from UI. If we must talk about people studying courses we need as a nation then private people should be left out and the subsidized grad should be considered first. Govt is suppose to create enabling environment for job creation and not direct jobs. |

DrPurple:its not about you knowing what you're doing, its about the university strike jamb stuff. because right now, it's not by knowledge you pass jamb it's by luck (courtesy of bad marking) and what of the normal nigerian strike. she might have achieved that in nigeria, but that'll be through luck and grace of God |
