How 2015 Poll Was Rigged In North – Tanko Yakassai by ChangetheChange: 8:20am On Apr 16, 2018
Elder statesman and prominent politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, has disclosed that massive rigging took place in the North in the 2015 general elections.
Yakassai revealed the electoral fraud to journalists when he led the newly formed Northern Leaders Stakeholders Assembly to former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, at his Uphill Mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital yesterday.

He cited instances of manipulation in the elections. According to him, while the electronic voting was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, it was not so observed in the north.

He remarked: “When the electronic voting was introduced, I was in support of it, but I observed what happened in the 2015 general election and I changed my mind.

“This is because it was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, but it was not so religiously observed in the northern parts of the country. It was from that moment that I began to have some reservations about the electronic voting pattern.

“There are many ways of rigging election. What happened in 2015 where the majority of southerners resident in the north were scared away from their places of residence, where they had registered, to their place of origin and therefore could not have the opportunity to vote, was rigging.

Again some of the southerners who did not run away were afraid to come out and vote on the day of election. So scaring people from coming out to vote for the candidates of their choice is also a form of rigging.”

The 2015 election led to the emergence of Major- General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), a northerner, as president while the then incumbent, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner, lost.

Earlier at the meeting with Babangida, he lamented that most leaders of northern extraction had for long taken the support of northerners for granted, stressing that henceforth, it would not be business as usual.

Yakassai said they were at Babangida’s house to inform the former leader of the objectives of the organisation dedicated to the unity and progress of the north.

Babangida praised the efforts of the group and assured them of his support as long as they worked for the unity of Nigeria.

Also at the meeting were Senator Joseph Waku, Alhaji Ghali Na Abba, Dr. Mohammed Data, Alhaji Abba Hana, Hajiya Inna Corona, Hajiya Zainab Main, Gimbia Rani, Alhaji Bala Mohammed and Dr. Umaru Babangida Aliyu, among others.

They have started to confess their sins.

People thought that Orubebe was just throwing tantrums, but the real hero was GEJ who despite being robbed of victory decided to relinquish power to the failure we now have.

While a leader says his ambition is not worth the life of any Nigerian, the other either look the other way or blame a dead man while Nigerians are being slaughtered everyday.

Dont be suprised the present inec chair man doing the same thing. many are being frustrated from obtaining their pvc thereby disenfranchising them. card readers were only mean for southerners even gej 's accreditation suffered hiccup.God will right all this wrongs soon.

From this man's statement it can deduced that Gej is an incompetent buffoon, how can an opposition party rig an election in a country like Nigeria, and he is the incumbent president, how come they did not rig Obj out.

You know the power of incumbency don't you? but Jonathan said "My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian" Can you count how many Buhari's own have consumed? Let your conscience talk to you

No surprise there, I always knew Buhari cannot defeat Jonathan without some form of rigging. Every politician do it, or how did Fayose beat and incumbent governor.

When you have a visionless man who said "Baboons and Dogs will soak in blood if he doesn't win 2015 presidential elections", Southerners living in the north had to leave to avoid a repeat of 2011 when buhari's comments let to mass loss of lives because he didn't win election. Thus, southerners ended up being disenfranchised from voting.
That is why no matter how they vilify GEJ, no matter how they blame him for their own failures, GEJ will continue to be a role model to aspiring democrats not only in Africa but the world at large.
My political ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. ~ Goodluck Jonathan.

God bless Jonathan the hero of democracy.
For our peace, he sacrificed his ambition.
God bless Jonathan's generations for ever.

Curse unto Buhari and all his supporters.

They have started rigging. Already warehouses, private residences and palaces have been earmarked to be converted into secret polling units for mass thump printing and almajiri under age voting to avoid cameras and preying drones in the north.

He was rigged out because he is a dunce.Fact, not because he is clean or innocent. If not, how come he rigged the Ekiti governorship election if he was that innocent.

Its like you started following politics in Nigeria. Even in the days of OBJ (do or die politics), Tinubu was successfully rigging the elections in Lagos, that was why PDP could never win Lagos. It has nothing to do with incompetence. A lot of factors are responsible. I would have listed and explained some but typing with the phone is not too comfortable for me

Is unfortunately that with this introduction of Electronic vote the South will always lose presidential Election because a southerners living in the North will always defrechise from voting and the electronic voting will not observed either.

Do not forget that John Kerry made several trips to the north, while northern gov's visited the US as well. It was obvious that GEJ would be given the Gbagbo treatment if he tries to foil their attempt to take over the govt. Think of it, incumbent president could not sack INEC mole(giga). Something was up and GEJ played smart.
