...I assume you are old enough to understand how Yorubas negatively worked against the free trade zone created by governor Duke and how dredging of the ports have been frustrated asked a knowledgeable custom officer
You know Lagos doesn't rely on monthly allocation alone do you know what the ports contribute have you read what the customs bring in for the government
People travel all the way to Lagos to get what could have come through Calabar,PH or akwa ibom
The main reason the Yorubas would allow for the inefficient Nigeria setting is because of this trade off 'bribe' by the north nothing more nothing less

Not another Yoruba demon standing in our way again...

Lagos is rapidly changing and moving ahead of Nigeria.

Jakande laid down the dream and the wisdom

Tinubu formulated the masterplan

Fashola revolutionalized and actualized the masterplan

Ambode is taking the revolutionized and actualized masterplan to the next level with his own elements

The pressure is already on the next governor after Ambode to fit into the big shoes of the well accomplished Lagos State governors before him.

Eko o ni baje is not just a slogan, it's a way of life, culture, awareness, sense of pride and duty. This is why leadership in Lagos is so different and better than the rest of Nigeria. The Lagos ethos is just not available outside Lagos

I wil not be surprise if they back federal capital Nigeria back to Lagos. Èkó òní bàjé

You made the above claim and I asked you to share with us the story and how exactly Yoruba people negatively sabotaged Duke's project.

Just stop dancing around and educate us, that's all.

I just hope and pray they don't.. I'm even 100% sure they won't.

The North is developing Abuja as their future capital of sovereign Arewa Nation so I don't see them moving the capital to any other part of Nigeria.

Okoyeeboz:

Yorubas went all the way to the Cross River state and stopped Tinapa from working?

You see, the problem with you Igbos is that you blame everyone but yourselves for your misfortunes. Just last weekend, we saw a picture of your brothers selling auto parts in Ladipo market flogging vehicle parts and saying they were casting demons out of the machines.

During the civil war, a little above 400 Yoruba soldiers stopped and defeated more than 5,000 Biafran soldiers at Ore. When I pointed out that fact here, one Igbo boy said that it was because the Biafrans didn't know that there were less than 500 Yoruba soldiers holding the bridge. If not, the Biafrans would have fought and not run away. You blame Yorubas for everything including the cowardice of your fathers.

As ridiculous as it sounds, that's the foolishness embraced tribe-wide. It is unfortunate because some sensible ones among you who try to caution you end up being shouted down by the ignorant majority.

Now to clear your generational ignorance, here's what Liyel Imoke had to say about Tinapa:

"So, part of the problems was that we have a free trade zone built by the state government but regulated by another entity. We have no control of the regulatory environment that could make Tinapa viable. Also, we have a situation in which what we proposed for Tinapa was retail trading but which is not working. This is for two reasons. One, the operating environment offers no helpful incentives.

As the state government we are offering what incentives we can afford, including making the complex rent-free, but it is not enough. Two, the population of Calabar is not sufficient on its own to drive traffic to Tinapa, because Tinapa shouldn’t all be about visitors and tourists. And there is the issue of distance between the city centre and Tinapa. We have movie studios in Tinapa that people in the city centre hesitate to travel 14 kilometres at night to patronize. This distance factor is a vital part of the decision to reroute Tinapa, as it were, via the Convention Centre project."

...'we have no control of the regulatory environment that could make Tinapa viable' what does that mean
Tinapa was meant to be a hub for goods otherwise purchase from places like Dubai
but the Yoruba/Hausa control custom would have none of it ...so please spare me this over hype Lagos facade
Go meet your elders and ask them the implications of developing other seaports
...why is it a do or die affair

Are you saying that your own state has zero economic contributor or your Governors are not visionary?

Without a seaport, see what Ogun is doing and compare it to the nonsense your Governor is doing.

All this Yoruba boys should stop jumping up and down here for lagos. Lagos was built just like Abuja with federal resources, the subsequent governors are just building on already built state by FG.

Every other state can look like Lagos and Abuja if they are built with collective wealth.

Why is it that other states in SW like Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo are not anything near lagos in development and their governors are not doing the magic to turn it around , Lagos is already built with collective wealth.

1. Duke was PDP and is still a PDP member, just like the people PDP public officials tasked with regulatory powers and control

2. Fashola in Lagos state faced similar regulatory challenges, but instead of sitting on his ass and let the FG and the opposition party in charge roll over him and his people in Lagos, he fought them every step of the way from taking away the Lagos badagry express to waterways, Lekki Ikoyi bridge from construction to tolling and he won across the board. Tinubu did the same thing against OBJ, a fellow Yoruba.

3. Duke had a vision, be lacking the will, strength and wisdom to defend his project and vision.

4. Duke did not sort out the regulatory framework of the project, he did not dot the I's and cross the T's. it's like buying a car, buying a plane ticket to travel out before securing the necessary permits and VISA

He was the architect of his own failure. I like the man and respect his vision, but he sabotaged his own dream even before construction.

5. This is very synonymous with the PDP as a political party, they kill and sacrifice their own babies, they cannibalized the successes of the bright stars within their party because their main focus was not what's good for Nigeria, it was all about personal gains, greed, and self-interests.

6. Tinapa failed because Duke did not do his homework because he did not fight for his dream, because his party, political friends frop the PDP presidents to ministers and so on stood by while his Tinapa dream vaporized.

PDP, his own party killed that project and last I checked, Yoruba people don't own PDP and they are even less relevant in that shitty and worthless political party.
