You are countering your own motion, if Pirlo was fantastic even without been the captains then why not Enyeama, some decision can totally alter the feeling in the squad.

with this argument already is best Rohr invite Aiyenugba and Ejide instead of Enyeama, they are both playing for there respective club and won't even ask or expect the captains band.

We all know Enyeama to be very volatile and outspoken, I wont like this young guys to feel strartle because of his strong personality

And would Ejide or Aiyenugba between the stick truly inspire much confidence? Their last two games for the NT makes one think otherwise.

I am not sure you understood the point behind that reference. Buffon has been the captain for Italy, there was a time he retired and Pirlo was poised to take the armband but hey he came back and Pirlo respectfully gave it back, that's what I mean here. Enyeama was already the captain before the sad event happened and Mikel(just like Pirlo was going to)benefitted from the natural captain's forced retirement, it wouldn't be unwise to point out that Mikel can wait a little longer or even if he never becomes the captain again(assuming Enyeama comes back and stays for 6 more years) then it still isn't bad for his career

Nigeria
Porto Frustrates Efforts By Ranieri To Sign Chidozie Awaziem Permanently For Nantes

Chidozie Awaziem is set for a return to Portuguese side FC Porto in the summer after the conclusion of his loan deal at French Ligue 1 side Nantes at the end of the season, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nantes are eager to sign the 20 year old on a permanent deal in the summer after his impressive display so far for coach Claudio Ranieri men, and his performance made them approach Porto for a permanent deal in the summer but a deal is far from conclusion.

Porto are insisting on his buy out clause of 20 million euros. A sum agreed on his deal when he signed fresh terms for a five year deal three years ago following his breakthrough at the club 18 months after his move from Geelec Academy in Nigeria.

” It’s still the same as before concerning Awaziem. Porto are demanding the full release clause contained in his contract before his move to Nantes can be made permanent. The price is on a high side for the Ligue 1 side , so he will return to Porto at the end of the season “, Awaziem ‘s Nigerian intermediary Babawo Mohammed told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Emphasis is on performance. So far, he hasn't shown enough to prove his doubters wrong, at least in the Super Eagles. Yobo and even Omeruo were pretty much established defense generals in the national team at the same age as Awaziem.

Not the case everywhere, it has more to do with that colleague other respects and believe can lead. I'm talking NT here and not club. Okay, who's the oldest player in the Spanish, German, Brazilian and Portuguese NT?
Mickael2:

it is not voted for, in the national team, 9 times out of 10, the olderst is made the captain, that is normally the case everywhere. And when you have a player coming back to a team, he can say that if he is made the captain then he can come back, that is not factually a contract but since it is a term that he has put down before he can start working, it is called a contract and Zidane did similar

FYI, Dani Alves is the oldest player for Brazil, yet he's not the captain.

Hazzard is that of Belgium even though Kompany and other older players are there. The list goes on...

That doesn't make him over rated. Where were those guys at the club level when they were his age?

Give him time because Ekong was even worse when he first came to the SE. You can say the boy would do better with time(in the future), not that he is over rated.

What are you ranting about, you said year ago you told someone that a 19 year old Nigeria will struggle and will go to championship, should you not be ashamed of your self, how old is Ox and what make you think iwobi won't get to that stage or better.

How many 21 year old are getting playing time in big team like iwobi, because he missed a sitter, is he the first?

Just like you told your friend year ago that he will struggle, now Mark this date, this dude will make the podium for ballon d'or some day.

Come on. Yobo was doing well in Belgium before earning a move to Everton where he replaced a club legend. Heading to the 2002 world cup, he was our go to man with an ageing Taribo just getting by. Omeruo on his part was on loan to Ado Den hag from Chelsea, where he was the standout right back in his time at Hague. We know how well he played for the national team during this period.

My point is that Awaziem have yet to show he is as good as his fans claim.

Michael Emenalo is Monaco's sporting director and in charge of talents recruitment for the first team now... Not surprising Monaco is linked with Kalu. His performances too have been very good this season so far.

I will prefer Monaco coz I know he can get game time there without Much fuss and the club has a history of once having "Prince of Monaco" Victor Ikpeba there at one time.

Another reason is Jardim. I love his philosophy with young players. Samuel Kalu will flourish under him no doubt but the problem is....

"Will Emenalo and Monaco shell out 15 million euros to land Kalu?"

Read some rumors that Monaco are trying to beat down the price and also that Kalu may consider the possibility of moving to German bundesliga over French ligue 1.

Dortmund have Pulisic and Jadon Sancho on the wings upfront... And they are highly rated. Kalu may struggle getting game time ahead of those two not for inferior ability but most likely preference..... I think I prefer Monaco if it can pull through...

All the best to Kalu... Whatever choice he makes, I hope it is for the best.

ChrisKels:
Monaco and an unnamed top German club believed to be Dortmund are the front runners amongst some top league clubs fighting for the signature of Nigeria's most promising winger Samuel Kalu. His Belgium club, Gent values him in the region of 15-20mills.

you see? you don't know how the thing works. oldest isn't by age but based on the number of years spent in the team. When did Dani Alves start playing for Brazil? I think even Neymar started playing for Brazil before him, he isn't even close.

Belgium's own was because of Kompany's constant injury worries, you can't always have an injured captain and the coach explained that back then.

Sir hope you remember that Finidi George and Mutiu Adepoju were the oldest and longest serving player after Okechukwu Uche retired but Bofrere Jo made Sunday Oliseh the captain,so sometime longest player can be ignored for younger player.

This is precisely how I feel about safarigirl. She is in a man's World on this thread and any disagreement against her ideas looks to her like it is because she is a woman, that is why people disagree with her. She lets her emotions take over to drive her point. I have learnt to understand it and take it easy on her. I also take time to explain my point when I disagree with her.

It is baffling men will want to go into verbal sparring with her. Let us learn to tolerate each other.

For me you are the General for this particular thread. But you are also the number one problem that girl has.I have never seen you chide her for wrong behaviour an attitude she exhibits all too often. You condone her a lot.It doesn't matter if she is the only lady here. What is bad for a guy is bad for a lady.Please.

Sia1 named Mikel because Musa stepped down and Mikel was the oldest. [/b]Thank God you know why Mikel rejected that vice position, not just because of Enyeama's loyalty alone but also because he felt as the oldest he should be getting the armband, same reason was sited for Emenike's retirement.

On a side note though, players contracts are usually not straight, some contracts have terms like 'I must play up to 70% of the available minutes' etc etc. If adding the captain's armband will entice Enyeama then it shouldn't even be an argument, by all means. Besides Pirlo never got to be the captain of Italy, does not make him any less than he is

That just doesn't resonate with me.

Age is not the qualification for leadership and in the context of football that's even more pronounced.

Yobo was not the oldest when he was made captain. This issue become more absurd because of the issue of football age. For instance Yakubu was considerably younger than Yobo officially.

Nigerian players haven't have the privilege to
play for Liverpool for a very long time. The last
time a player from Nigeria feature for the

What's a long time to you That's the first question ❓.

A few months ago Ovie played in the midfield for Liverpool with much credit given for a good performance. I could add to that Seyi Ojo then Ibe and then waiting in the wings is Bobby Adekanya who left Barcelona to come to Liverpool.

Or I could give you a history lesson on Nigerian origin players that played for Liverpool but we are talking I presume last few seasons.

Then I could give a long roll call of possible potential players who are waiting in the academy you have not heard of
