What else do you expect?
That's how it is.

People better lock their money into wherever they can get between 11% & 12.5% for between 280 & 360days tenor now. Else they come back here maybe by June or July to say "had I know". That's why a lot of people who understands are trying seriously to get 364days tenor at the primary market despite its "fantastically fantastic" over subscription of over 1600%.

They all know what they are doing and most of the individuals are also keeping their eyes on the secondary market for the longest tenors possible if they are not successful at the primary market-that's the strategy.

On monday, i was offered 256 days @ 12.6% in fbn sec mkt which i rejected. D tb guy told me he'd get in touch when he saw a longer tenor. Today i followed up my form i dropped with him. The following were offered: 63 days: 8%, 78 days: 7%, 230 days(longest tenor available): 10.3%. I shapperly opted for 230 days tenor by it turns 5%. Abeg, when oil pbg go turn $10? As d price dey go up, nah to d disadvantage of us tb enthusiasts. Lolz.

I think FG want more people to embrace the savings bond. This month offer was 2yrs - 10.75% per annum and 3yrs - 11.75% per annum.

Treasury bills is still more favourable than that bond even at 10%.

why?
when you get your interest upfront, you can reinvest for more profits. But the bond pays interest every 3 months which will only be a fraction of what treasury bill holder gets upfront.

the only other option right now is EQUITY FUNDS

It's simple, you give funds to fund managers
who invest in stocks and share the gains
amongst all the contributors to the fund.

Managers may decide to put all funds in stocks/equity
or share funds and put some in safer investment media
like treasury bills etc

EXAMPLE :

Fund Name: Stanbic IBTC Nigerian Equity Fund
Asset Allocation: Min 75% Equities Max 25% Fixed Income
Guarantee: None
Handling Charges: 2% of redemption proceeds (if investments are redeemed within the first three months)
Investment Horizon: Long-term
Investment Objective: Capital appreciation
Minimum Investment: NGN 50,000.00
Nominal Value: N1,000.00
Redemption: Within 5 working days
Restricted Investment: None
Risk: Investors with High Risk Appetite
Subsequent Investment : NGN 20,000.00
