*Long post alert* I have been a silent reader for the past year and I would like to share my POE experience: Arrived at Dulles POE We were the first flight to land in the morning so they had time on their hands for us. I was the second in line to see the CBP officer. Officer: Good morning Me:Good morning with a smile then presented my passport. Officerwithout opening it) questions started flying in my face, is this your first time in the US, what are you here for. (Mind you I'm a frequent flyer to the US). Me: Calmly answers all the questions Officer: (finally opens passport) oh i see you have been here a couple of times, what will you be doing here for 11weeks. Me: I'm having my baby Officer: (surprised) you are having a baby, how much will it cost you and how much do you have? Me: it will cost $XXXX and I have $XXXX in cash and on my card. Officer: okay, puts my passport in a case and sends me to secondary inspection. * At this point I start praying for favor* I sat waiting for 15 minutes before my name was called. 2nd Officer: repeat same questions and asks to see cash so I removed cash and counted it before him. Then he took my pasport to the inner room and comes out asking one officer how much it cost to have a baby and he said "oh my wife delivered last month and I paid $40,000. I said in my mind fire burn you na God pass you. I sat there for close to 45 minutes before he called me again and he said it is not a crime or illegal for me to have my baby in the US but I should make sure not to use gov't funds and present my receipts the next time I arrive at any point of entry in the us and finally stamped me in. No documents checked even though I had doctors correspondence and I'm glad I declared my intents without being asked because my belly wasn't showing too. I didn't send the change of intent letter and wasnt asked why I didn't inform the embassy. Mind you I had used the visa last year for visiting. Don't be scared of immigration if you have nothing to hide. During my wait in secondary inspection, I didn't touch my phone, I just relaxed in the chair outside and they watch everything to see if you will panic. I thank God it ended in praise because the righteous is delivered by the innocence of his hands. I almost missed my connecting flight to Chicago and i was the last person to board. Chicago is very cold, had my first appointment and prepaid my bills and waiting for the baby to arrive. Thank you for this forum and all those who stretched out to help me with my questions. We are all not agents and some people genuinely need help so let's continue to offer it when we can. I'll be bavk to share hospital details and documents when I'm done! 18 Likes |

Violetdaisy: If you read the sent scanned papers well, u ll see where it's written that you should reply them with a date you ll want for your first appointment. When you reply them, they ll send back a letter showing that you have an appointment with them on the said date 1 Like |

Chimzy09: Either of the hospital or the Doctor is enough for your visa application and POE. You don't necessarily need the 2 |

House please help me! I've applied for passport renewal (have my visa already in my passport not fully expired yet, will expire in September) since I asked for knowledge from gurus here, they've still not gotten back to me with the new passport & the longer it takes, the higher flight fare. Do I go ahead to get the ticket with my passport at hand or wait for the new one as my trip is in 3weeks time (next month)? But I'm hopeful of getting the new one before I travel. Will I have issues at the airport if I travel with both eventually with the booking details carrying the "old passport" details? I need to book & get the tickets at most by weekend. NB: Nigeria factor of no booklet |

Ehimeomo: You can go ahead and book your ticket with the old passport since it hasn't expired. Same thing happened to me. My passport was to expire in June and I applied for another in Feb. I booked my ticket with my old passport and got the new one march ending. I travelled with both passports earlier this month with no issue. |

I think you should go back to request for another birth certificate but with proof from the agency that they lost it, and this time request for at-least two, I have three ladeonas: 2 Likes |

My interview was scheduled for 9am today. I was given a white paper after much question and answer. And the VO said I'd receive a mail in the next 3 days informing me to come pick up my documents and passport which she's withholding for administrative purpose. Does this mean I've gotten the visa? 2 Likes |

Hi everyone, I need some experience from people who have given birth in the US already. For those that didn't go with their mothers, please how how do you normally cope especially within the first few days after childbirth? Are there things you travel with( like some local stuff that our mothers would have normally administered on us). I have family over there that will likely help but I just want to know if there are extra steps to be taken, especially for a first-time mom. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Hello, Been a silent reader and i must confess this thread has been quite helpful from the moment I decided to have the baby in USA. Renewed my VISA via drop box in December and picked the B2 option. Arrived IAH at about 2pm US time, the airport wasn't so busy. Was already on the queue to be attended by a black CBP before another till opened with a white guy. Officer: Good morning Me:Good morning. Officer: Why are you here and for how long Me: To have my baby and 10 weeks Officer: Where are we having this baby Me: HNWMC Officer: Do you have any correspondence with the hospital/ doctor Me: Yes, (brings out all my documents i.e: email correspondence with both dr xydas and Shelly from the hospital including my appointment letter and also the miracle moment package) He scans through for like 5 mins. Officer: Have you met this Doctor physically before ? Me: No Officer: So how did you find him Me: Internet and online reviews. Officer: How much cash do you have for this purpose Me: $XXXXX - (less than $10,000) Officer: shouts Escort, hands over my passport and documents ta a guy, then turns to the guy and asks me to follow him to Almighty secondary inspection When we arrive secondary inspection, I see them grilling a pregnant arab lady and almost enter panic mode but I just stayed calm and sat down. After about 20 mins it was my turn Secondary Inspection officer: Why are you here Me: to have a baby. Secondary Inspection officer: Why do you want to have your baby here Me: Dual Citizenship SIO: Having your baby here doesn't give dual citizenship Me: The baby can have both a Nigerian Passport and an American passport SIO: I see you've been to other countries why not any of them Me: The benefits of America outweigh all others SIO: Where is your husband? Me: Lagos Nigeria SIO:So tell me one of these benefits you talked about earlier Me: At this point my mind is balnk, I sha say they can get access to IVY league education SIO: You don't have to be a citizen for this. Me: But this means you'll pay nore SIO: How much cash do you have on you? Me : XXXXX SIO: Can I see it, He looks at the cash but doesn't count and hands it back to me. Also hands back my correspondence letters SIO: I hope you know what to do else next time you plan to come to the US we will cancel your visa? Me: What exactly? SIO: I thought you did your homework well Me: You mean getting all my reciepts and paying in full SIO: Yes. As he is about to hand me my passport, next thing he asks where am I staying? Me: Intown suites SIO: How much is that costing you Me: About $3000 SIO: Hangs on to my passport. So how is the balance of the cash you have going to cover your bills ME: I have my BOA card with me and there's some money in the account. SIO: How much ME: $XXXX SIO: When was this account opened Me: 2016 during my last visit SIO: So you have been planning for this since then; ME: NO SIO: So why do you have an international bank account Me: It helped me to save and then for international transactions SIO: Like? Me: Apple music, Online shopping SIO: What other countries do you have bank accounts in Me: Just here and Nigeria SIO: Finally hands me my passport, and says make sure to pay all your bills else we'll revoke your visa when next you come Me: Thank you. Proceeds to baggage claim to get my bags and realize the place is literally empty except for my bags, as I pick up my bags one woman says I have to go for baggage inspection and hands me a form. I quickly opened the form and see that they circled rice. The guys at baggage just scans my bag and says next time don't bring in rice. Now staying at Intown suites. Not sure how i feel about the place. My next hustle now is to get a better place. Maybe its the Nigerian in me but I feel the place feels so exposed. The kitchenette only has a microwave and fridge and 2 disposable cups. Any HNWMC/ Dr Xydas mamas due in May please lets connect 7 Likes |
