From the results released so far and the present market condition, all the noise about "the coming bull", " the coming bull", and about "2018 being d bullish year" seem not to hold water. Cos aside for January's bull I don't see any other major general rally this year, except isolated average rallies for a few stocks. More so the market makers have succeeded in depressing the market to their own advantage. So they do whatever pleases them with d stocks. Like I will always say we are at their mercy so whatever noise we make here has no influence on market being bullish or otherwise! |

You no lie at all. The market has been slow and there is no hope of it getting better next month or the next or the next as we draw close the polls. The only thing is that the bears give opportunity to smart investors to buy at low price. investman: 1 Like |

The result of First Bank has reinforced my earlier stance that I must watch some companies with nice telescope. Q3 EPS was N1.25 and Final EPS was N1.21. Meaning that they made a loss in Q4. I will listen to their Conference call to know what they will say about the future. Impairment has come down from 226b in 2016 to 155b in 2017. I am yet to see appreciable recoveries. I will wait to see what their Q1 will look like. The EUGAZ are catching up with First Bank in terms of earnings. Which means they are losing customers to other banks. There is one interesting income head that the current CBN governor created for the Banks. ATM maintenance charge of N52.50 per month. First bank has been religious about deducting this every month. GTBank has refused to latch onto this income. I believe they understand the sentiments of their customers. No wonder they had increase in customers in 2017. swilo: 1 Like |
