this is just like asking how many people in the civil service get to level 15, of course they are many but not everybody gets there. on the average, out of 20 new doctors in a hospital, 12-15 at the very least make it to that level, its a given in fact. are you trying to say that if you pass all the exams they will stop you?

You are comparing apples to oranges. The best comparison is this. How many first degree holders end up with a PhD? Very few!

a fresh consultant actually earns 801k and as a consultant your duty hours are grossly reduced so you can combine like 4 different hospitals at a time, and the other hospitals usually employ a pay-as-you-work salary scheme and you will probably end up gathering close to 400k in a month, that's already 1.2 with sic zeros behind for a consultant who is just a beginner, if you somehow become the chief consultant.... or let's say you make it to the CMD level alone Good Lord.

by the way, new consultants hardly lecture in medical schools, they might be mandated to tutor interns which I am not sure adds a single kobo to them.

IZANAMI have you heard?

What's your definition of meaningless course?..No one is hating on doctors..All I am trying to say is that students should be well-oriented before choosing their career..The issue of students writing jamb 5-6 times because they want to study MBBS is what we are talking about here whereas they can conveniently study other lucrative courses and it's not like most of these students want to study it cos they love it.Most of them do it for the pay..It's not even like you are guaranteed a good job or secured future after graduation in this country..

So no one is showing hatred or disgust for doctors..And just because someone is studying MBBS does not make him/her fortunate than others..

Your type will do anything just to prove what you said in your last statement.

There you guys go again. The problem here is y'all incessant crave to compare Medicine with other courses.

One is up there saying how many get to Consultant level. If you see any doc that's not a consultant ask them veey well, it's usually their choosing and choice.

I'm 7years post graduate from the college of medicine OAUTHC and I've never written the primaries exam to get me into residency, why? Cos I don't wanna read the way I read in Med School again at least for now. When I'm ready I'll go for it, heck I'm even prepping to jet outta d country sef.

So making it look like a PhD scenario is totally misconstruing, but I'm sure you already believe what your mind chooses to understand so enjoy.

Did you see the part I said I'm jetting outta country? Not all docs are interested in dying in this rubbish course. I've had so much fun in my life post MBChB and even looking to just retain the title and diversify into other wonderful things life has in store.

Lool at Bukola Saraki, a Medic who worked his way up to being the no3 citizen of Naija, how many docs a can achieve such feat? He's the kinda doc I want to be like.

I should actually feel sorry for you getting stuck in the ratrace of medicine but I won't cos I respect people's choices and so should you.

Ciao!

it's only useful in areas where rich pet owners are plenty, and not only that, you'll need connections to work as vet maybe for an agricultural firm, people who usually do vet medicine end up having another business by the side,. If you don't have all these conditions right you'll end up treating ekuke for 500niara

you are hating for no reason. am sure you studied a meaningless course in school and now you are just trying to feel good about your certificate that wont fetch you any meaningful job in life. face your life. somebody else's career is not your business. medicine don cast, shey na you cast am. mr career guide analyst
most third class graduates are happy within that the country is the way it is because they feel peaceful when first class graduates are unemployed. Humans are vainly competitive. People want to see you doing as good them but not better.

I left the line of dreaming in the medical line after I discovered I hated drugs, smell of drugs, hate seeing blood and see people in pain.
Now I went to a line I could do better and I got admitted immediately. All my classmates then who applied MBBS are yet to be admitted and to make matters worst they still applied same thing this year
please if you don't mind me asking what line was that exactly

I meant to say, I didn't apply for mbbs which was the norm for every 'bright' science student in my locality. I opted for Engineering (I prefer calculations to reading/cramming words)

During a pandemic, medicine became especially relevant. All people should receive primary medical education at school to help themselves in critical situations.
I can't entirely agree with some of the methods that are used in surgery. But I'd be lying if I said surgery wasn't necessary. Surgeons have saved a huge number of lives and continue to save them.
Of course, their services are costly. However, if you choose the right insurance plan, the amount will not be large. For example, I choose health insurance on one site — https://www.medisupps.com/medicare-supplement-plans/medicare-supplement-plan-g/medicare-supplement-plan-g-2022/. There is always up-to-date information.
