Lagos & Nigeria can claim any GDP figure (it's all free) - but it won't increase the size of fufu on their plate. Lagos can claim to have GDP bigger than Algeria or Kenya - but it still will have 2-3B dollars every here to gather for 10-20M people. Kenya has 28+3B (31-32)B to spend every year. GDP can only be helpful if it;s credible to be trusted by investors or lenders , if it actually generate revenue & taxes.

Lagos is far better than Kenya in all reunification, size, economy, infrastructure, tax revenue !

Maybe when you count in Naira...try USD. The exalted lagos - collect roughly N500B - which in US is mere $1.38B per annum. Kenya collects $15B from taxes alone - total revenue is close to $20B - with total budget nearly equal to Nigeria's. Nairobi on it's own - despite not being a state - manages to collect about %0.2B from land rates & licensing fee only.

Srsly, why are you guys fighting against logic? Would it kill you to admit our revenue collection is way more efficient than yours? That would ofc open the floodgates and force honesty in everything else so in a way I understand your emotional block but I find it FEMININE! If this were Egypt/Algeria/Bots or Namibia vs Kenya for example I wouldn't even have joined this thread!

Same shitty talk with no prove, how about Kenya Foreign Exchange Reserves vs Nigeria Foreign Exchange Reserves?
From the graph trends, one could see how stupidly Kenya is declining as a result of massive corruption(unnecessary withdrawal) , but same can not be said to Nigeria

Lagos was the seventh largest economy in Africa in 2014 with gdp of $90 billion guess what number it is now?

I think numbers differ on different stats...
in 2017 its gdp hit $136 billion( Lagos grew during the Nigerian recession)

You need forex to cover import bill. Kenya has never had any problem with it's forex reserve. The recommendation I think is to have 3-4 months import cover of forex. Kenya has way more than that. Don't talk about Nigeria forex - you guys have SERIOUS MIGHTY Issues. You basically produce very little...and therefore you need tonnes of forex to import...nearly everything including refined oil, sugar, wheat, generators smiley

Cooked GDP is not going to add revenue that Lagos need to build infrastructure, to supply water to it's resident, electricity to it's people, to collect garbagae, build low cost housing to replace makoko, and name it.

Ohoo we had forex problems last in 1992 -nearly 30 yrs ago - when we devalued our Kshs to dollar from 1-20sh to 1-nearly 60s - and that was all.

You can interpret forex with import bill. You only need forex to import stuff or pay debts. We have more than enough cover -4 months.

Our Kshs is one of Africa most stable country because our Central Bank is not ran by voodoo like Nigerian one. And it's free-floating.

I think our forex reserve is 7-9$ billion dollars and it's doesn't swing with OIL like Nigeria. It kept pace with our import bill....and you can buy as much forex as you want in Nairobi. There is no black market. The problem is your naira shs is worthless.

Declining. Kenya is not nigeria. Our forex at the HIGHEST it's ever been at $8.85B - and that covers all our imports needs - and leave enough to defend our KShs - which is one of Africa very stable and solid currency. We ran our macro-economics very seriously. This is not Nigeria's Central Bank - which rans on vodoo. The last and first time we had forex issues was 1990-1993!!!

Kenyans have never had to worry about forex shortage or oil shortage or petrol queues? or blackouts or whatever shortages the last many decades- nigeria crapple with daily. Those are very strange problems....you find in Ethiopia or Nigeria or such countries..Not KENYA. Most people in kenya don't even know you can ever ran out of forex and have to go to black market grin grin

The usual 3-4 months - seem we now have 6 months import bill worth of forex grin grin grin - that can only mean KSHS will appreciate against the dollar. Way too strong.

And who told lagos aint building infrastures, lagos is building power plants, might roads, hospitals, water supply, industries and many more

1. Expand the Lekki-Epe expressway by taking out three roundabouts – 4th Roundabout (Elegushi), 5th Roundabout (Jakande) and 8th Roundabout (VGC) – to decongest traffic.

2. The construction of fly over bridges
3. Expandsuion of over more than three thousands (3000) roads

4. Install 6,000 street lights to support the Light-Up Lagos initiative.

5. Install 13,000 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and security sensors across the state, for surveillance and the prevention of crime. This will begin by September 2016, and should be completed in 18 months.

6. Implement the Lagos Enterprise GIS (EGIS) upgrade and the Integrated Land Administration Automation System. This will ensure proper monitoring of government infrastructure for optimum benefits, fast-track the ease of doing business, and improve government-citizen relationship.
7. Lagos light rail projects
8. Lekki Airport (new airport)
9. Lekki free trade zone (worth more than $45B), Dangote Industries
10. Badagary see ports
11. Bus rapid Transport (BRT) all over lagos

Facts are very stubborn.
1) Our forex are not declining..rather they are the highest they ever have been ..at nearly 9 billion dollars. Our import bill is around 12-18 B dollars..so we have more than enough to cover us...we only need 6-7B dollars forex.
2) Our Kshs is now gaining against the dollar...
3) There is very little you can do with 2-3B dollars in a town of 10-20M folks. Very little. You're talking removing 3 round abouts grin and install 6,000 lights. Ohoo boy how do we even begin. CCTV.....

And you wonder why you live in a slum city without electricity, water or sewage? And all of you are just waiting for Dangote smiley

WB or IMF do not calculate GDP. They adopt whatever is calculated by any country including Nigeria or Russia or North Korea. Obviously there are so many ways one can check the correctness or validity of GDP - WB or IMF are not in that business - because it's politically - but when Nigeria tries to borrow loan from IMF or WB - they will get as much as they can service from their very little revenue.

And do you even know how to read the graph . Our forex are non-issues. They can swing btw say 8-10 - with CBK buying or selling them - we have more than enough and it's never been an issues. This is not nigeria where it swing wildly with OIRO.
Let me help you with 10yr graph

And Nigeria

As you can see like blackouts - forex is non-issue in kenya - nobody has heard since 1992 that one ran short of forex or couldn't buy it or there was black market to buy forex.
