But the millions, which our senators and other politicians are carrying is realistic. You're part of our problem.

The guy is actually right!!..ask yourself how consistent the government all all levels had been at paying even the current minimum wage..

Leave your idealistic world and face reality..reeling out the amoount politicians corner for themselves will not translate to actual payment for workers as at when due...Nigeria is a sick country, and you all should realise that.

Inflation will kill Nigeria if this is implemented across board.
It's like Nigeria has not yet learnt from the "Udoji panel fiasco"

shocked

That is outrageous.

The Labour unions are being so unrealistic.
Nigeria's minimum wage should not exceed 19,800.
Nigeria is a sick and broken third-world country for crying out loud and should not try to imitate already established countries like the USA.

We should all be patient till the country is healthy before we can enjoy it's true wealth.

Big rubbish

In as much as the wage needs an upward review, 66,500 is not realistic
why? But senators can be paid exorbitantly right?

Re: Minimum Wage: Labour Settles For N66,500 Nationwide by ultron12345: 9:11am On Apr 27, 2018
anyone that understands secondary school economics will know this is a futile mission. Firstly, the government can't afford it, secondly, Increasing the minimum wage will lead to inflation and a reduction in the value of naira. For example, if u were buying a cup of garri at N100 when minimum wage is N10000, then u should be ready to buy that cup at N1000 if the minimum wage is increased to N100000. Everything will cancel out each other, there will be no advantages, only numerous disadvantages.

What they should clamour for instead is the increase in the value of the natural such that even the wage is reduces to N10000, that N10000 will be able to buy what N100000 could buy before.

And again, it will do nothing more than increasing our recurrent expenditure.

From 18k which has not been adhered to by ALL STATE GOVERNORS to 60k+.
Not realistic. Unless the strictly consumer-based economy is gonna crash. Inflation needs to be strategically checked while ensuring that producing/manufacturing sector is offered enabling environment to thrive in. But if it's still the same oil projection-based budget that is expected to run this, it will be catastrophic. For me, salary increment is not the solution.

Even if its not realistic. The minimum I estimated last year was 64000. Since many state governors like owing for 10 months at least when they release 2 months there will be respite for the workers. if you know the cost of governance in Nigeria you won't talk. A Senator goes home with N14. 4m every month. Aside N200m annually. Aside those with special duties in the house. I went to one private institution recently and there were about 30 brand new landcruiser jeeps wasting away in their backyard with no plate numbers. some with flat tire. Is that not wickedness?

They don't like to face reality. They're dreamers.

That's how one presidential candidate will say he'd make minimum wage 70k in 2019, and they'd queue at his back; thinking the money will fall from the sky. Very funny people.

How can you increase wage bill from 19,800 to 66,500. How did they get that figure? That's more than 300%. It's too bloody much!

Spot on..but is that all?,how about when they believed buhari will make one Naira equal to the dollar,(with useless economic analysis using their psedo-intelligence to back it up)miraculously transform their lives with his 'body language' shocked, reduce pump price of petrol to 40Naira,pay them 5,000Naira e.t.c...

A lot of Nigerians are kind of foolish in their thinking to be honest.

Please how did you arrive at that conclusion, are you CBN's auditor general or what?
I think what's not realistic is when a senator earns the minimum wage of over 200 people monthly and you expect the people not to receive decent raise.
