Good morning everyone.

Long post alert!!!!!!!!!

I am a silent reader and I must really thank @Seun for creating Nairaland. I have really learned alot from it.

Nairaland gave me all the tips I needed to birth my baby in USA, but for a reason I am yet to decipher, it did not occur to me to come on the forum to seek advice when I started my Canadian Express Entry hussle in 2017.

Thankfully, I was able to pull through by going through the CIC website from top to bottom. I received ITA the same week I entered the pool.

My progress post-ITA seemed normal till I got to IP2 (at least, I think that is the stage I am on, please correct me if I am wrong). I have been on IP2 since 2nd of March and it seems like a year already.

See below my Timeline and a screenshot of my application status:

ITA - 20/9/17
Application submitted - 19/12/17
Acknowledgement of Application - 19/12/17
Letter requesting for additional information - 08/01/18
Additional information submitted - 17/01/18
Medical Exam passed - 17/01/18
Review of additional document changed to 'Provided' and later changed to 'additional documents you provided are being reviewed' - 18/01/18
Background check changed to Not Applicable - 18/01/18
Review of additional documents changed to 'We do not need additional documents' - 01/02/18
Background check changed from NA to 'We are processing your background check' - 02/03/18

Elders in the house please am I in IP2? If yes, could there be a reason for the long wait or is it normal?

I have sent mails to them on several occasions but I didn't get any response. I guess it's because my application is not up to 6 months yet.

Who else has my kind of timeline? I need a shoulder to lean on. LOL

This wait is not for the faint hearted.

Congrats to all the PPR and ITA receivers.

Ok, thank you.

I should send the documents without them requesting? Wont it look like I am been defensive?

I concur! You can then send the passport to Accra if there is no response before the 15 days deadline but I believe they will respond.

Thanks for the response my senior mommies @GlitteringStar and @Newmum0615

So my comment on the cse is simply to notify of forthcoming birth?

Yeah and also request for advice on how to proceed with your passport submission and application for baby.

As to your issue, I think you should go ahead and get your COPR, then when the baby comes, his/her issue can be handled. Threadstone successfully added his wife after getting his COPR.
Remember that even after baby comes in 3 weeks, you still need to get their passport done.

'Plan' is to birth in 3rd week, rest in 4th, get bc and start pp in 5th then probably complete medical in 6th.

Also trying to avoid back and forth sending of pp and revocation of visas as much as possible.

I don't know if travel history is a problem. My opinion is that it may be. My opinion sha cos I believe that the background check that needs to be done from all the places one visits might contribute to delays. Be it for the PA or spouse. I have a good amount of travel time so I am guessing my application is delayed cos of that. But like I said, it's my presumption.
I found out my LVO from GCMS notes ordered via gcmsbuddy. Results came in 2 weeks. Everything looks fine, so it's just a waiting game now.

Did you say you got your gcms notes in 2 weeks from gcmsbuddy? That's fast as I read getgcms takes at least 1 month.
Secondly, I guess you are married and you may have done change of name, if yes, did you notice your name switching to your maiden name in some parts of your profile? I ask because some places where my spouse name appear on her application profile has changed to her maiden name. So she is now having some places bear her new name while some reverted to her maiden name. Though I still believe it shouldn't be a problem.
When is your AOR?

My story
IELTS:
First attempt LSRW 7.5,6.5,7.5,7
Second attempt LSRW 8.5,8,7,7 (less prepared than 1st attempt so result was a miracle)

POF:
60% was in T bills
Used personal account (left out salary account)
Added spouse pension (presented pfa statement and loe from spouse)
Wrote a detailed loe with xchange breakdown in a table

The Wait
Was checking MyCIC everyday! Sometimes twice a day. Got too tired of the suspense then decided to find out my vo 20days after AOR. Emailed Ottawa but got auto response to use web form. Used the form and got no reply, even till now. I then researched here for alternative means and found this post. Called cic and spent 32mins on hold then 2mins to speak with agent who informed me file was at Ottawa, great! 2 days after i order gcms, yet to receive it. Continued my daily check till i saw the ghost update yesterday. Went to bed, woke up midnight to find golden mail grin

***beckons on choir for special number***

My worry
I am expecting my baby in 3 weeks but to submit all pp within 15 days. Do i request for an extension to allow me add my new born or go ahead to send the pp now and raise cse when the baby comes? What is the process for requesting extension? Will have to fast track pp for new born but do i do new born medical upfront?

Good morning everyone. Had to create a new moniker for this question. Its a long one but i want to give full details so as to get as many advice as I can get

1. Na lawyers fit answer your question oooo. cheesy Well, since joint legal guardianship means that decision making is shared by both parents (adopted and biological) and the mother provided her consent, then the equation is balanced.

2. You can raise CSE and upload the documents just to be on the safe side. Try to upload the proof of custody too in case you didn't upload it when you submitted your application. You can also include LOE to further explain and prove that she is your adopted child. Submit the mother's ID card to show that she is the biological mother and dad's death certificate to show that the dad is dead. The reason is because their names are already on the child's birth certificate and you will need to prove that it is the mother that signed the consent form and not someone else.

By the way, try to hope for the best since you've submitted already.

That's the essence of CSE sometimes. You would have provide all relevant info and if possible make reference to the notes.

Thank you so much.

I will raise a CSE. I initially uploaded the proof of custody (Court Judgement), her biological father's death certificate, Her biological mother's voter's ID card attached to a notorised consent she signed.

I will get evidence of school fees we have been paying, HMO id cards, family pictures and anything I can think of. This will be attached in the CSE. I was just worried that won't raising a CSE without been asked sound like I am been on the defensive even when they have not queried me.

God help me. I tire.

Then, by all means, go ahead and raise a CSE. There's nothing wrong in pursuing several courses of action.
BTW, I have not read a lot of extension stories and I'm curious, is there no limit to the length of time with which your deadline can be extended? From your plan, you will need an extension of at least 1.5 months.
What of your initial Medicals? do you still have time there? or will you need an extension there as well?

Personally, I just feel like its less complicated to add the baby after COPR.
But let's hear from other more experienced NLanders

This is really a case for lawyers. Our lawyers in the house can help @Ethelia @4Barr. But I think you should do the bolded: We have evidence of her being with us since 2013, school fees receipts, HMO documents, Pictures. Should I raise a CSE and send those?
Write a very detailed LOE and notarize any other document that might help your case. I really don't have good info about this kinda situation. It's best the experienced ones guide you.

Don't worry about raising a CSE. That is the essence of it in the first place. It doesn't sound defensive. They already know you ordered GCMS notes, so they know you are aware of their concerns.

Just pray about it. What will be will be, but God can turn any situation around in your favor.

Good morning friends.

Question concerning Work Experience.

I worked between 2013 to 2017 in my previous work place and enrolled for Full time HND between 2015-2017 while still fully employed ( I had a special agreement with my boss). After my HND program, I got an offer from a multi-national in the same field as before and I have been with them for a year now.

My question; I have 5 years work experience altogether but 2 years out of that I was full-time student. I read on cic that I can't be a full-time student and have work experience within the same period. What do I Do?

Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by Nobody: 10:29am On Apr 27, 2018
I want to claim points for being an employee. Thanks I would do as you've advised.

GlitteringStar:

Do you want to claim points as a self-employed applicant? If not, make sure your work reference letter is in CIC's format. You can then include pay slips/bank statement, your offer/appointment letter and if possible, you can also include the business card of your supervisor/boss. You don't have to worry as long as your work experience is true.

I read your post and still thinking about it but as you are naming us.....I do not see anything wrong with the GCMS portion you highlighted so I was waiting for someone else to talk maybe I would see what the issue is.

Those documents you listed should ordinarily have been part of the application with an LOE but right now I will thread with caution because they have not 'raised an eyebrow', you may introduce a new angle to the case that was not there, we have to check what CIC says about legal guardianship....is it at par with adoption.....

I believe what you need to upload is a certified true copy of the order of the magistrate granting you joint custody as well as the consent form of the joint custodian. Having done that, there shouldn't be a problem. It's just that, IRCC will do a thorough background check to be sure that the consent of the joint custodian is not forged and the death certificate of the father is real. If they do that, you shouldn't have problems with your application.

Raising a CSE to upload school fees receipt, pictures etc won't matter. If and when they ask you can do that. Their only concern is to know if the adoption is legal. Pictures don't show that. School fees receipts don't show that.

The western world take adoption matters very seriously. There have been million of cases of trafficking African kids abroad.

Sometimes, I think requesting for GCMS notes before our application is approved creates unnecessary panic. The comments of the VO doesn't mean your application will not be approved. Allow them do their job. At the end, its possible you're worrying for nothing.

If u can't convince them 2015-2017 had u working full time and studying, two years become one year of work experience and with the other years, u will still have three years.
