seems you hardly watch Atleti games, that's how they cover all the time, they weren't scared at all just their normal game.

out of curiosity though are you saying that Iwobi would have been able to dribble all three players at once? I am sure Welbeck is kinda fast too, he showed that against Chelsea in last season's FA cup final and Iwobi is definetly not the fastest guy around either
Beat your chest and tell me that Welbeck was the better choice for that wing throughout that game. Iwobi have done more than 3players Vs Argentina. he passed thru 5players at once and didn't go down. Against Chelsea too, he passed thru 4players, Cahill and Kante inclusive. So it's now 3rough defenders he won't pass thru or at least get a PK out of them

It's no hype, but we both know who the better dribbler of the ball is in such tight spaces.

Welbeck failed to do his job at that wing and so Monreal had to fill in such role... Stop making Welbeck look like he's one good player. He's average to me. 2goals against Cska is not going to change my view about him anyday.

Wilshere an average player the english media see as the english Xavi
Even Xavier has been average in some of the games he played in his career. it's now Wilshere that would be consistent? lol. Don't mind the English media, that guy would get extra drill from any coach asides Wenger.

Iwobi hasn't even scored two goals against Crystal palace and you want to start him over someone who is in form?

do you want me to start giving you instances of when Welbeck beat more than one player? this shows that you didn't watch the Arsenal CSKA game because he did.

Which match against Chelsea did he pass 4 players and what was the outcome?

can't you just say that the Atletico fullback was a stalwart on the day? I mean this is a team with one of the best defences in the world, Arsenal created chances, plenty if chances which shows that the team was doing okay, all they needed was a goalscorer, is it Iwobi that would have scored the goals? Welbeck remains a bigger goal threat than Iwobi any day [/Quote]One of the crosses that came from that side made Lacazette rise high to score. All due respect to Atletico, they defended well, and I'm not saying they didn't. I'm just on the tactics. Welbeck couldn't have done anything meaningful Vs the best defence in Europe without being a dribbler.

Once you have such stalwarts, you resort to some dribbling cos of the speed at which they close down. simple.

Gimme Iwobi and Welbeck to choose who would be a goal threat, and I'll pick none. trust me. arms folded.

What a very diplomatic and intelligent statement from Ndidi.

It's simple better to beat Croatia and Iceland, get six point then round it up with Argentina in a relax mood than using Argentina with magical Messi to qualify from the group.

That's Ndidi word of wisdom.
But he played down our chances Against Argentina

10s of thousands of arsenal fans disagree with this your analysis. Funny enough, most of them that insulted and vilified Iwobi were the very ones saying that he would have made a difference cos of his dribbles which Welbeck the heck, couldn't offer. Pls we know that most of the players on the pitch were very tired. only a foolish coach would leave a tired Ronaldo or Messi on the pitch in the name of that they would still make a big chance at winning. Not to talk less of Arsenal players that if Ancellotti were coach, they would see the backdoor out.

Don't tell me here and now that you believe that Iwobi's game is solely for possession cos I won't agree atall with you.

this shows how much you know about coaching. haven't you heard that some players are made for the big moments? if you are losing you dare not sub out your best player na or your main goal scorer rather you complement them, no sane coach would take out Messi or Ronaldo when his team is trailing, heck in 2012 or so against PSG, an injured Messi was subbed in when Barca were losing, guess what? with only one good leg he played a shot which the GK parried and that led to the equaliser and Barca scaled through

over the years Ronaldo has been scoring against ATM not because he knows how to dribble( he lost that years ago) but because he knows how to exploit spaces. You dare not come to beat Atleti players one on one, that's time wasting, you keep it simple until a channel opens up. if you try to dribble them that's your death, one turn over and a quick counter and that's a goals. like you rightly pointed it, Welbeck was disposed for a goal, now just imagine if Iwobi was there and he tried like six times, trust me Arsenal would have conceded more than once

Im not saying Iwobi is the better of the two. Iwobi has a lot to still learn. But for that very flank Vs Atletico, when they began to defend En masse, as a coach who would you deploy to breakdown such discipline, a ball holder or a dribbler? All crosses that came Vs from his flank was by Ozil or Monreal. This is a Welbeck that when he attempted dribbling, he lost possession and that led to Griezmann getting an equalizer. I watched both legs of the Cska game, and I call that a flash in the pan. Vs Chelsea, the outcome led to a 4on 2 situation that Ramsey couldn't bury. 4arsenal Vs 2chelsea players. undecided

(exhales) It's okay... when me and you know that this is not a Barça with a Xavi , an Iniesta, a Messi that dribbles, and a Busquets. That's the only team in the world now that can be doing such patience and waiting for a loophole, and when it opens, it still must use some Lil dribbles from Messi to get a result in tight angles. Cmon man.

Did you see the list of players on Arsenal's bench?

Talking about drillbles, Ramsey, Wilshere and Ozil are all drillers. We needed a direct player in that attack which was what Wilbeck was there for.

Naa, Iwobi would not have made the difference.

Welbeck has had a good run of games anf scored a couple of goals. So he was favorite to start from that wing and favorite to stay in the game for 90s. Arsenal needed a winger that plays direct football and also scores. And that was Welbeck.

Iwobi is a kind of player that gives you possession but we had the possession already. We needed a player that could take on the opposition directly, and there was none on the bench to come in and make that impact. So Welbeck stays for 90mins

Yes Wilshere had an average game but who could have replaced him?

Arsenal had no bench yesterday, so there was no way they could have made any substitutions.

Besides, making substitutions in a game is not a must. You can switch tactics and formations without any player substitution.

I respect Wenger so much but when the other team goes a man down u normally do something with the extra man. Besides Ozil Iwobi is the best creator on that squad and every Nigerian should know he scores big goals especially when they are needed. Well at least they won't blame him this way.

That's a fib. Iwobi did everything you've just asked against Chelsea in the league cup. He can play that type of game.

I think he does, he is a mousa dembele kind of player.
Short passes, Ok ball retention, occasional long pass and of course can shoot from outside the box.
A John ogu stepping up his game is a big plus for us, he is the only midfield regista we have.

That's why he has been playing in the Isreali league for the past near 4 years.

Ogu can not be compared to Dembele.

Ogu is exactly that a decent player, but the comparison given implies a top level player.

It's a reflection of the depths to which we have fallen, when we consider Ogu a top quality player. Because we simply do not have many anymore.
