daveP:If you were making a case for Iwobi coming on for Wilshere or even Lacazette, then maybe. But Welbeck?? His athleticism alone is why you don't take him off. Arsenal were still creating chances and should've scored 3-4 without the substitution. If anything, I'd have brought on AMN for his pace to deal with Atleti's counter. 1 Like |

A few weeks back, i was watching Tunisia 94 final against Zambia and i was reminded of how frustrating Okocha used to be. misplaced passes, over dribbling, wasted shots. He is a Nigerian legend now but when he was young, he was not consistent. He became more consistent as he grew older. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

kentebemoney: Your point is very clear and understandable. Being d same kind of player does not mean being in d same class. Again we should stop berating a player because of d league or club he plays. Its good to play in a big club but not every player has d opportunity. There are Nigerian players that are better than Dembele that didnt make it to Europe. If a player like lwobi is not related to Okocha and plays for a lower league like Israel am sure he wont be anywhere near SE. 1 Like |

Nicely done by Larry Kayode. Kept his composure despite the onrushing keeper and placed the ball nicely with his right foot. And good work to run into space too just in time. Three goals in about five games now I think for him in FCSD colors. Good one for Kayode. tbaba1234: 2 Likes |

I love the way you just used a glimpse of Nigerian football history to dive into the depths of the matter as regards the growth of the present Super Eagles generation of players and prospects. I also saw the Tunisia 94 final not so long ago this year and saw your observations too. I also took time to go through more Tunisia 94 games and clips plus some USA 94 matches I have on my archives on Nigeria's Glory days even down to the U-17s. The same Okocha that was quite inconsistent and sometimes made some folks feel like he was unserious grew to become not just a Nigerian and African legend but a world class footballer. Our current generation is still so very young... Most of our brightest talents are still only aged between 19 and 21 currently. They will still mature and so will their talents/potentials.... Look at Mohammed Salah... He is 25 now (will be 26 by June this year) but at ages 21 and 22/23, he was not this explosive. Look at his growth... We saw the talents in the 19-20yrs old Salah at Basel and he did show some fine glimpses at Chelsea before he left for Fiorentina in Italy and then to Roma... But now at 25/26 at Liverpool, he has matured and allowed his growth count immensely... He is now practically a god among his peers at Liverpool. Greatness sometimes will take time. And I see same explosion happening to a few of our rising young Nigerian talents if they keep the same positive, hardworking spirit and A-class mentality. I know we are on the verge of another golden generation in Nigerian football as it was in the 90s... But their growth continues... Most of the best of these lads/rising young players are still only aged 18, 19, 20, 21 or even 22... I say give it time. They will rise stronger with a few or couple of them going on to be world class footballers. tbaba1234: 6 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: But some don't believe that(or pretend not to believe) age counts in football. Players generally mature and get better with age. Just that they peak at various ages. I look at some people when they criticise a player and then forgetting his age. The expectations on some of these young players are too high. They expect them to be pulling up trees already meanwhile they are still at the developmental stages. You in particular call me the custodian of the Hall of experience or something, you now agree with me that players get better as they age and gain more experience. It is that young untested player that people here will always see as a better or best player. Going back to the motion that Kalu and Olayinka are better than Simon and Musa and that the later duo should be dropped for the former duo. Where is it done? You want to throw away the experience of Simon and Musa for untested young players? Not even as if Simon and Musa have not been forming in their clubs. |

Kayode Scores Again As Shakhtar Stay Top In Ukraine April 27, 2018 7:14 pm Nigeria forward Kayode Olanrewaju was the hero as he grabbed the winning goal for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk who beat Mariupol 1-0 in a league game at the Illichivets Stadium on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com. Kayode netted the decisive goal 25 minutes from time after he was set up by Goncalves dos Santos. It was the 24-year-old’s second goal in four league games and third goal in five games in all competitions for the Miners who cemented their place at the top of the log with three games remaining before the end of the campaign. He is on loan at the club from English Premier League champions Manchester City. Shakhtar sit at the top of the table with 69 points, six more than second-placed Dynamo Kiev who could cut the lead to three with a win against Vorskla. Paulo Fonseca’s men are on course to win a domestic double this season after booking a place in the final of the Ukrainian Cup last week. They will face title rivals Dynamo Kiev in the final on May 9 at the Dnipro Arena. https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/kayode-scores-again-as-shakhtar-stay-top-in-ukraine/ 1 Like |

Mikel: Super Eagles Can Make History In Russia April 27, 2018 10:05 pm Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi believes the team can make history in Russia in June when the FIFA World Cup gets underway. The Tianjin TEDA of China midfielder says the team will surprise the world by going farther than any Nigerian team has done in the competition. ”I think we are in a group where we can do something. It depends on our preparations and how much we want it, not just we have qualified let’s just go and play the World Cup. ”We want to make history, we want to do well. We want to make sure we go there believing we can beat Argentina, Croatia and Iceland,” Mikel told FIFA World Cup Russia Magazine. Nigeria’s best placing in their previous four appearances at the competition was the second finish in 1994,1998 and 2014 and Mikel is confident the team will surpass that record. The Eagles will open their campign on June 16 against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Kaliningrad before playing Iceland six days later at the Volgograd Arena in Volgograd. Nigeria’s last game is against Argentina whom they have four times at the World Cup.The game will hold at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg. https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/mikel-super-eagles-can-make-history-in-russia/ 1 Like |
