Is Lahm a leftback?

what has lahm got to do with this,Lahm ain't better than Alves, Lahm stayed in his comfort zone all through, Alves moved to different leagues and was efficient...his been ever present in UEFA 11.

DO YOU KNOW, Alves has the highest assist for messi in laliga, ahead of iniesta and xavi

Lahm has something to do with the discussion, you stated that Alves is the best right back in the last decade. So lahm has everything to do with it, I will also pick him ahead of Alves, but take nothing away from Alves, he's great.

Mikel: Super Eagles Can Make History In Russia
April 27, 2018 10:05 pm

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi believes the team can make history in Russia in June when the FIFA World Cup gets underway.
The Tianjin TEDA of China midfielder says the team will surprise the world by going farther than any Nigerian team has done in the competition.

”I think we are in a group where we can do something. It depends on our preparations and how much we want it, not just we have qualified let’s just go and play the World Cup.

”We want to make history, we want to do well. We want to make sure we go there believing we can beat Argentina, Croatia and Iceland,” Mikel told FIFA World Cup Russia Magazine.

Nigeria’s best placing in their previous four appearances at the competition was the second finish in 1994,1998 and 2014 and Mikel is confident the team will surpass that record.

The Eagles will open their campign on June 16 against Croatia at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Kaliningrad before playing Iceland six days later at the Volgograd Arena in Volgograd.

Nigeria’s last game is against Argentina whom they have four times at the World Cup.The game will hold at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

It’s not about age, it’s about excellence at every point in time and every player have to show consistemtly that they deserve their place on the pitch or bench.. same rules will also apply to any DESERVING young player who is given a chance to fight for a short. If he can’t cut it, he gets drop. There are exceptional younger players also.. or is SE selection seniority based? Experience is great but you have to demonstrate that your experience makes u better than a said younger player on the field of play.. hopefully when the WC is over we will start to build a team with more depth. It will actually pay us better in the long run.

But I agree with you, a player should not be said to be too old if he is still showing he got it and is able to demonstrate that he is still better than the younger players. Our major problem really has been our inconsistency with coaches over the years, and that stems from our desire for quick results as if we were a country blessed with obvious abundant talents. We are not Brazil. We should be humble with the right expectations especially considering the state of our domestic league. So Nigerians, get a good coach and be patient for once.

Icon4s:

But that is the age we chose to offload our players after gathering all the experience.

We easily call them tired old legs and be in a haste to push them out so as to bring in new kids and the cycle continues. And We keep trying to build endlessly.

This current team is young and growing in experience but when they have started gathering the experience we want to throw them out and start chasing some new kids all over again.

Udeze Counters Oliseh On Argentina, Speaks On Eagles Top Striker Crisis

Published: April 28, 2018

Udeze Counters Oliseh On Argentina, Speaks On Eagles Top Striker Crisis. Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze believes Nigeria's group opponents at the 2018 World Cup, Argentina. will be one of the teams likely to reach the semifinals of the mundial.

Udeze was reacting to the opinion of former Eagles midfield maestro Sunday Oliseh who reckons that The Albiceleste will not be one of the four semifinalists in Russia.

Oliseh who starred at the USA 94 and France 98 World Cups had tipped Germany (world champions), Spain, France, Brazil, Egypt and Nigeria as likely to get to the last four stages of Russia 2018.

"That's Sunny's opinion (Argentina not reaching Russia 2018 semifinals) but if you ask me, I will add Argentina,'' the onetime West Brom left back stressed.

"Probably he (Oliseh) omitted them because of the way they have been playing badly without Lionel Messi but I will.

"Argentina have good players everywhere, at top clubs and playing them will not be easy."

On the need for Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr to try out some strikers in the friendlies against DR Congo (May 28), England (June 2) and Czech Republic (June 6) before the tournament starts, Udeze stated:

"It's not time for experiment in the team but we may try out one, two or three strikers in those friendlies because we know we have only one striker Odion Ighalo but in the friendlies we can see what these other strikers can do''.

Eagles coach Rohr has disclosed that the Eagles camp will open on May 21 in Nigeria as the team are billed to play DR Congo in Port Harcourt in a friendly on May 28.

Journalist Claims KAA Gent Winger Moses Simon Forged Passport, Played In Niger For Three Years

Published: April 28, 2018

Journalist Claims KAA Gent Winger Moses Simon Forged Passport, Played In Niger For Three YearsMohammed Suleiman of Liberty Radio 91.7 FM Kaduna claims KAA Gent winger Moses Simon falsified documents to get a fresh Nigerian passport before his transfer to Europe in 2014.

Suleiman has asserted that the Super Eagles star represented a club based in the Republic of Niger for three years and was certainly not eighteen years when he moved to AS Trencin in January 2014.

Simon's former Nigerian academy, Golden Boot Soccer Academy, was unaware of this fraud because the player falsified documents he presented to the club.

''I proved to the people backing Moses Simon that he is a Kaduna boy playing for Moderate Stars before he was bought by Aminchi Academy,'' Suleiman told allnigeriasoccer.com.

''I know a dirty secret about him, I can prove that he is above that age. Obviously, he was overage that's why he was dropped from U17s and promoted to U20s months later.

''He is not a bad player, he's very clever with the ball. Short, fast and skillful to the maximum but if he doesn't add a little bit of height which I doubt he will, then he will go missing soon.''

Suleiman added : ''Moses Simon is one of the ills of Manu Garba or should I tell the whole world he played in Niger for three years yet was claiming 18?".

comfort zone?

Let's explore this very well then. Alves has only played in Spain and France, I mean no offence but is the Ligue 1 truly a league? It would be a comfort zone for any player, just ask Memphis Depay. So let's say the only tough job was in Spain. Then for Brazil what has he achieved in international football? 4th place without even featuring prominently.

Now we go to Lahm, I don't need to talk about his records in Germany, you can google them. Then for the German team I am sure he has made the semifinal of every major tournament he has played in since making his debut. Not to mention that he did leave his comfort zone to play as a DMF and was still outstanding in that position, so it's funny that you should use the 'comfort zone' against him.

I am not sure this argument has anything to do with his assists for Messi. At Barca he plays almost as a wingback and Busquets covers perfectly for him. At Bayern though Lahm hasn't had it well enough, they also recruit attack minded LBs like Alaba for example forcing Lahm to always drop into a back three to allow the LB attack and even in Germany he does the same, I am not sure you expect him to be giving assists from there like that.

Ex-Nigeria Coach Raises Red Flag: Super Eagles Players Will Be Tired Before The World Cup

Published: April 28, 2018

Ex-Nigeria Coach Raises Red Flag: Super Eagles Players Will Be Tired Before The World CupEx-Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has warned of a potential danger ahead of the 2018 World Cup as he reckons that most of the key players in the squad will be fatigued heading into the tournament.

Important squad members such as Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Brian Idowu, Victor Moses and Abdullahi Shehu have played at least 27 games in all competitions for their respective clubs this term and this workload might affect their performance when the World Cup begins.

''I am very optimistic with this group. It is a young group and this season has been very tedious for most of the players,'' Oliseh told Channels Sports from Liege on Friday.

''I don't know if it is an advantage or disadvantage but most of our players are tired because of the season. I think and pray we'll be fresh for the tournament.''

The former Ajax Amsterdam, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus midfielder has advised that preparations must be prioritized and warned against a repeat of the controversies in the last World Cups.

''Our team, we can't lie to ourselves, preparation is very important, we have to prepare right. Secondly, let us hope we don't have infighting between the team,'' added Oliseh.

The Super Eagles will do battle with Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D of the 2018 World Cup.

how can you be uttering such fallacies? Pele won the Copa Libertadores, I think more than once and won countless league trophies, back then Brazil had a lot of local league as against one general league that they have now.

He even won an intercontinental cup and defended it like four times or so, how would he qualify for an inter cup if he didn't win the champions league in his own continent? And how would he qualify for the champions league of his own continent if he didn't win the league in his own country?
