Really? Why don't allow you to finish one another in frequent night attacks? Or, to just let them employ shoot at sight order since they don't have constitutional right to arrest anybody being a criminal or suspect.

There is one line in the report about the man which many people might have overlooked:
The pastor acknowledged that Mr Teshaku has a controversial history, but said he had since repented and his latest actions have been to the service of his people on Benue.

Repent from what?

Again, how are these Benue Livestock Guards carrying out the enforcement of the Anti Open Grazing Law in the state? Are they killing Fulani herdsmen in the state? Are they confiscating their herds? Benue state government should inform the public their modus operandi.

Every Nigerian has the right to make an arrest be you the police, army or anybody. Its called citizens arrest and it can be done without a warrant and is permissible under certain conditions.

True, but only if you were at the vicinity of the crime or witnessed or if the person you are arresting was declared wanted by the authorities.

The only authority that has the right to arrest to arrest people based on allegation, and only after investigation and collecting evidence, is the police and it's other attendant agencies such as DSS and EFCC.

THE Nigerian Army has no constitutional mandate to investigate, arrest or charge anyone.

Lol, this is the height of Cowardice, Ortom has already abandoned this one. This is why I like brave men like Fayose and Wike, they wouldn't have thrown the same person they employed under the bus but would have challenged these uniformed terrorists. Why are They arresting Benue people yet not even a single herdsmen has been arrested or killed! OMG, this is the height of injustice. The massacre of Christians in B have continued unabated yet the same victims are being arrested!! What a country!!!!!
I was tempted to report you for talking out of point, if can read then you can understand...because saying no one has been arrested makes me wonder if you just follow the wagon or you actually know what is going on. Please find time to enlighten yourself because Buhari isn’t the problem the problem is you and people like you throwing blames as if you’re all about giving a dog a bad name just to kill it, instead of being objective and getting down to the roots to know who is really the bad egg. I sincerely plead with you to Love your country when you do you’ll see things differently. I have lived abroad and there is no place like home. Let’s make Nigeria great again shun blaming buhari while the actual perpetrators roam free without blame in the name of politics

Listen, the Nigerian Army can arrest someone they see commiting a crime. But they have no right to go and arrest anyone based on allegation. That is the job of the Police.

The role of the Nigerian Army is not to fight crime.

State anywhere in the Nigerian constitution where the Army has the mandate to invade a person's house in an area were no war exists?

The people who have the constitutional mandate to go to anyone house to make arrest is the Nigerian Police and it's other attendant agencies such as DSS or EFCC.

The Army has no right to go to arrest anyone unless the crime is something that is happening in front of them, and even when the Army makes such an arrest, they must hand the suspect over to the Police

I blame Ortom for all that is happening in Benue today, he was part of the conspiracy of silence in the bid to uphold his loyalty to Buhari until the great bubble burst and his people couldn't no longer bear it.Ortom's belated action has caused Benue needless human carnage or holocaust.

He was caught with pump action shot gun and a belt of cartridges which are illegal; earlier on the army had arrested some members of the state sponsored militia, recently renamed livestock guards, with AK47 which are also illegal arms (as pictured below).
Some of those caught confessed to being on a govt monthly salary of N15, 000 though not being paid for over 7 months as at that time.
It had therefore been speculated that a combination of no - pay and deadly weapons in the possession of such young men was indeed very dangerous as it could easily tempt them into armed robbery and extortion of local and the herdsmen populations - which could also fuel the ongoing farmer/herdsmen unrest.

These allegations should be thoroughly investigated and made public as there is no smoke without fire - why would the Fulani suddenly change their modus operandi and switch to killing ppl in churches? ...it really doesn't make sense.

I'm still asking one question that no one has been able to answer: how are these militia or livestock guards enforcing anti open grazing law in Benue state? Are they not killing herdsmen? Are they not killing and rustling their cattle? If no, how are they discharging their duty?

The Fulani have been complaining about all what you mentioned but no one is listening to them because the conflict has been politicised as a tribal and now religious problem.

If you are in Lagos there in an army cantonment in Maryland.

You can go there to express your disappointment in the army arresting people especially in Benue State.

Fear let him? Now their PDP Governors / Aides are being identified and arrested as the Financier / Sponsor of killings in Middle Belt Nigeria. All in an attempt to make Nigeria "Ungovernable for Buhari". But God pass them and they will all be exposed and eventually be put to shame.

Watch it naija

Benue is too small to cause a civil war.

You can only talk of civil war when this wanton killings happen to a major tribe which speaks the same language like Igbo or Yoruba.

Benue is just a state...Fulani people backed by the Nigerian military will wipe out every soul in the state in 48 hours because of their population

As it is now, Nigerians will keep ranting as always

And the worst case scenario is the declaration of state of emergency in Benue

The fact that he was in support of anti-grazing, he should go to jail.

The weapon he was arrested with is not illegal to possess. That weapon did not fall under prohibited firearms, anyone can own that with permission providing he/her is mentally fit.

Buhari and the Army are trying so hard to divert the perpetrators from Fulani herdsmen. Do not be deceived people...we all know its Buhari's brothers.

I pray Boko Haram kill any military personnel shielding these herdsmen, whether they are obeying orders or not.

How do you know its buhari brothers? Do you have some kind of intelligence reports that the security agencies dont have, or is it that your hatred for anything fulani will simply not allow you to make informed decisions. Come to think of it, why do you hate fulani people anyway? Have you personally ever met a fulani person before? How did it go? See eh, nobody is born hating another, we are just conditioned to hate. Have you ask yourself whether you are been played by politicians and their diabolical ways? This world is nothing o. Focus on serving your creator better and remove hate from your heart.

You are very wrong.

If you had read the OP well enough you would have seen these below

The Army said Mr Teshaku was a Boko Haram suspect and his arrest had input from the police and the State Security Service (SSS).

This will show you they were not acting alone.

Also this

He was once detained at the Force Headquarters in June 2011 when he turned himself in after being declared wanted as a Boko Haram suspect. But he was later released by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), then headed by Babagana Monguno, now the National Security Adviser, in September 2011.

This shows he was still on the watch list.

The army had every right to effect his arrest.

my heart truly bleeds when I see these people try to take southerners for a fool

does it make sense that an indigene of a place who was recruited to enforce anti grazing of fulanis would turn and kill his own people
?

the gun that was seen with him is a single pump action not the AK 47s the herdsmen use

I am particularly very disappointed with the weak gov of the state. he wants to leave this guy out to dry. so people should defend themselves with sticks n stones

your people are killed daily and he is not revolting against this tyranny
and you even have the guts to go on vacation abroad.

these fulani people have hatched a wicked plan. look at the large number of people displaced. they have been disenfranchised those in the IDPS because they do not have their voters card. come 2019, buhari may win again because of the number of people disenfranchised.not forgetting how biased INEC is now

not on single fulani arrested, not one
!!

when we said buhari was planning to islamize Nigeria but people said it was not possible.
when they are thru with benue, they would go to the adjourning southern states

now we can see systemic elimination of Christians in benue, Nassarawa and plateau

I hope the people would be alive in benue to vote in 2019

a very sad Sunday for me indeed. a very sad Sunday
