I normally would expect DIA assets to be scattered along the tri-border of Niger,Chad & Ngr
Furthermore,There are indications some pockets of areas within the AOR has terrorist presence/activity (the Army is just so stretched). But I tell you, this war won't be won until some/all those affected (especially the common man) contribute to the war effort

Not only about being over stretched. These guys are taking it in a gradual way.

Just look at this damn ISIS. It took the US less than two months to invade Iraq. Why not replicate these things in insurgency?

Concerning Nigeria, I have always said it until the military can make sure all liberated areas cannot be accessed by bokoharam then we're making huge success.

My opinion, all liberated areas should be handed over to the dss with military presence as protections too. The DSS and NPF team can now raid areas where suspected bokoharam elements maybe hiding. This should be done on a regular basis and then success will be achieved.

With this, bokoharam will be pushed back. Cutting off liberated areas from BHT territory means their fuel supply will be cut short, etc.

The strategy needs to be reviewed. I remember there was a time our troops came under regular ambush. This happened frequently then where military convoy was been ambushed regularly but the military seems to have changed strategy and also adapt to bokoharm ways.

it seems boko haram mobility isn't unhindered considering its use of technicals during the attack, especially in daylight

Bad Intel. I'm just surprised how these guys got into maiduguri with vehicles.

I have a feeling the purchase was based on relationship rather an actual capability. but then the Yabhon isn't a bad platform either. I just worry about munitions
Exactly the only thing that actually matters at the end of the day is results. The CH-5 is much more capable with a larger payload and longer endurance, probably carries more advanced and accurate missiles too.

AMISOM & Somali national security forces evacuate flood victims in Belet Weyne. They evacuated more than 10,000 marooned by the raging floods. Residents of Belet Weyne are among the worst hit, leaving many homeless and others moving to higher ground

KDF mandate is to defend and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya, assist & cooperate with other civil authorities, in situations of emergency or disaster and restore peace in any part of Kenya affected by unrest or instability as assigned.

NNS Sagbama was a gift from china after we ordered unity and centenary, but at our big age i don't think we require hand me downs.

lets just break the bank once and for all and purchase what we need according to requirement and forget about major defence purchases for the next 10-20 year kind of like what SA did with their arms deal of 99'

EC account can finance a 5+ billion dollar purchase (i'm not talking defence budget that includes salaries and reoccurring expenditures, i mean 5 billion dollars worth of equipment for army navy and air force).

We dare not judge the AOR by maps alone. We must understand the dynamics, there are sparse ungoverned lands in the AOR (call them badlands). The Army can't afford to station troops without its required logistical tail which can be vulnerable regarding the sheer distance between some places(remember when boko would ambush logistics convoy). The US invaded and a hydra grew

I do understand your point though, HUMINT game should be stepped up especially to be able to predict & checkmate infiltration in the township. Furthermore I think AFSF should be given rein to operate outside our borders.
They need to;
Disrupt boko's fuel supply
Disrupt ammo supply(Humint will be really needed)
Heck we need to be involved in Niger too
Simply put AFSF should be doing LRRP& SADO

it seems the algeria military may be interested in the future in china supersonic anti-ship cruise missile CX-1 Mach 3 speed, range 280km ,after recent pictures published on the website of the algerian ministry of defense.the images published showed wang zaho hui general of ALIT(China aerospace long march international trade company) an export company of the chinese aerospace group CASC handing a model of TEL bi-tubes vehicle to the chief of staff of the algerian navy.
