Yes and he chose that occasion. To be frank. Nigeria is not doing so badly given that the country started developing from 1999 after being battered by the military. Despit the woefully performance by the PDP for 16 years. He still recognised Nigeria as the biggest democracy in Africa. We will do better. Take it or leave it Nigeria is still the big brother Africa.

Corruption is a big phenomenon in most African nations including Kenya,so that's a lame excuse.
And that is why Kenyans are poorer on average than Nigerians.

Now that the Kenyans have been subdued on this thread and reduced to only two angry fuming birds, it won't be a bad idea to drop some personal opinions here.
1. It seems there's little we can do about official corruption in Nigeria/Africa but we can at least try to register our displeasure with the ruling class by thinking carefully before we vote during elections. We could vote in anti establishment types like they did in America. This will send a message to the ruling class.
2. Agriculture can do a lot for Nigeria/Africa, but we are still stuck with1970s methods. A typical farm in Africa will produce 1.3 tonnes of harvest while a similar farm in Argentina with same size and even poorer soil will produce 7times that harvest. The difference is modern technology and skills. It doesn't cost too much to copy what is working elsewhere.
3.Nigeria/Africa needs to produce and distribute more electricity. Vietnam alone uses as much power as the whole of subsahara Africa minus South Africa. Nigeria's performance in this sector is disgraceful. We can do better. Without power how can we progress?
4.We need to manufacture more in Nigeria. We can dominate Africa's industrial scene if we try hard. If Bangladesh can make billions from apparel export, why not Nigeria?
4.Now, this is close to my heart. I love TV and in Nigeria, we must find an answer to DSTV. This is another area where Nigeria can dominate the rest of Africa. We have the skills to create good media contents. What are we waiting for?

It doesnt' make sense that in 2017 - Nigeria federal gov raised only 10B dollars from non-oil (with Oil bringing in 20B dollars)
All the big plans will come cropper without revenues. You cannot do agriculture or manufacturing or whatever without infrastructure - and that has to come from having enough internal revenues to execute serious projects!

Every Nigeri has to start paying taxes! In Kenya every one files their returns - however poor they maybe! The so called Nigeria IRS need to really wake up and collect at least $50B per annum.

Taxes should never be negotiable. There will be initial pain but when roads are paved, electricity supplied 24-7s, piped water availed and all the basic comforts of life are there..Nigerians will be happy to pay taxes.

The future is rare earth metals my friend. Forget Oil its so yesterday grin

Rare earth metals are the crucial ingredient in many of our tech products. From smartphones, tablets and laptops, to the niche technology used by the military and medical profession, all depend on them to function, for features as broad as a phone's coloured screen to the magnets used to power hybrid cars. As new technology continues to flood the market, the demand for these metals will grow, but they're already in short supply.

Just a few comparison from ur post.... COPS
Ur corporal earns ksh42,660 and Nigerian corporal earns #44,715 and #51,113, depending on their levels.
Ur supretendent earns ksh73,020 and naija #187,616.
Ur inspector general earns ksh854,241 and naija #711,498.

Ur docs earns ksh200K and ours earn #250,000. As for d teachers, their salaries vary from states to states. There's no basic salary for them, some states even pay higher salaries than Lagos.

U need to know that "salaries" are paid and spent "internally". to me (a Nigerian) ur civil servant salaries are poor compared to Nigeria's cos most of our salaries are a lil bit higher than urs (in local currencies) and cost of living in Nigeria is about 50% lower than urs.

You're assuming everything sold in Nigeria is 3-4 times less than Kenya. That is nonsense. Purchasing power parity only applies to countries at different level..say US and Nigeria. And that is before you consider the fact that most of goods you buy in Nigeria are imported - food, electronics, drugs everything - those will have international prices.

Here are cost of Nigeria goods . It appears to be even 5-6 times (instead of 3-4 times currency exchange rate) because of you infrastructure deficit and general inefficiency in the economy.
