papoudaupolos: At the 1954 Nigeria constitutional conference in Lagos, the Northen delegate requested for a delay in self governance ( the southern delegates wanted immediate independence from Britain). The northern delegates were felted with stones and escorted with insults and violence out of lagos as their train left Iddo for the North. The compromise was later on reached at the Lancaster house conference in London. The North reluctantly accepted 1959 for self rule. This is one of the milestones of southern resentment for anything north. It is also one of the reasons why The Sardauna preferred to be The Premier of Northern Nigeria rarther than the Nigeria’s Prime Minister when the country’s capital, lagos would have been his base. Instead he sent his deputy Abubakar Tafawa Balewa to be the Prime Minister. 4 Likes |

Much beautiful than what we have now. There used to be law and order and the citizens were forced to abide by them or attract penalty. That was the simple magic to we see on the pics! We all have a role to play on sanitatizing our environment in one way or the order, let's not wait for the government to do it all!! We can start by proper disposal of satchets and plastic water. That would go a long way!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

wtfcoded: Funny dude. The only thing Yorubas thank Igbos for is hawking ice water to the builders who built the monuments in Lagos. It is utmost folly for an Igbo person to think that Igbos developed Lagos whereas Igboland is largely undeveloped. 10 Likes 1 Share |

How did we get here? Throwing waste on the street and lagoons? Seriously hoe did we get here? I have asked my history teacher back then in high school, if at all our leaders were selfish to demand for independence. As for me, I think they were so so selfish coz they got a lot to learn from the colonials. Even the stupid nationalization policy of the government then after independent kill everything completely. 1 Like |

Beautiful and clean. Nigerians have since turned Lagos (and the rest of the country) to a shit hole. I wish the Europeans could come back and recolonize Nigeria. |
