Lagos has come a long way, especially during the colonial days. Lagos is a home to the colonial masters this is because of its proximity to the Lagos Lagoon and also its a home of colonization according to them. These pictures are gotten from the archives of the Time Magazine and we can't but marvel at the uniqueness of Lagos in the 1800s, especially when the whites are at the helm of power in Lagos. One thing is evident here, there is an organization in the city and also the streets were neat and life is sweet!!! The good old days.

At the 1954 Nigeria constitutional conference in Lagos, the Northen delegate requested for a delay in self governance ( the southern delegates wanted immediate independence from Britain).The northern delegates were felted with stones and escorted with insults and violence out of lagos as their train left Iddo for the North.
The compromise was later on reached at the Lancaster house conference in London. The North reluctantly accepted 1959 for self rule. This is one of the milestones of southern resentment for anything north. It is also one of the reasons why The Sardauna preferred to be The Premier of Northern Nigeria rarther than the Nigeria’s Prime Minister when the country’s capital, lagos would have been his base. Instead he sent his deputy Abubakar Tafawa Balewa to be the Prime Minister.

It's not too late to ask for recolonisation.

Upon all government neglects, we deserved some accolades

Been to all the SE states apart from Ebonyi. Abia is horrible, Aba is worse than a latrine.

And to cap it all, a network if roads and bridges that defy human comprehension. If you ask me old take today's Lagos over 1880 Lagos.

This bridge us 12 kilometres long. One of the longest over water bridge in the world.

IKOYI BRIDGE

Beautiful and clean. Nigerians have since turned Lagos (and the rest of the country) to a shit hole.
I wish the Europeans could come back and recolonize Nigeria.
