We beat both Argentina and Poland without the trio except against Poland where we had only Moses and Argentina, for Balogun. So I ask again, on what premise is your statement coming from?
Mikel played against Argentina bro......

I still won't count Moses into that indispensable group.

As far as I am concerned, we don't really need Moses to win games as much as we need Mikel

Nah!

They ain't safe yet, coz they are on 38 Points now. They must at least win a Match or draw the remaining two Matches avoid Relegation.

Yea but Swansea v Southampton will take care of that.

Me and you know dele alampasu will not make the list but you guys in this thread like giving hope to someone who will not make it

On the 35 man list there will be 5 goalies. It is only if Rohr invites Aiyenugba that Alampasu will not likely make the list.

We should be able to win without either but they are both very important players for us. Moses is just as important in his own way.

Olayinka Fires Zulte-Waregem Close To Europa Spot, Balogun’s Mainz Secure Bundesliga Safety
By Nurudeen Obalola

Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka scored the winner for visitors Zulte-Waregem on Saturday as they defeated Kortrijk in their Belgian First Division Europa League Play-Offs Group A clash, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The play-offs are for spots in next season’s UEFA Europa League.
Theo Bongonda opened scoring for Zulte-Waregem in the 15th minute but hosts Kortrijt were back level only six minutes later.
Olayinka then struck in the 34th minute to give his side a second straight win in the play-offs.

The goal was Olayinka’s 10th of the season in 36 games. The 22-year-old, who can play as a wide forward or centre forward, has bagged an impressive 15 assists.

The win kept Zulte-Waregem on top of the six-team play-offs log with 19 points from seven games, while Kortrijt are second in the table with 12 points.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles centre-back Leon Balogun’s Mainz have secured their German Bundesliga safety after a shock 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

Balogun, who has just recovered from an injury, was not in the matchday squad but he would be delighted as Mainz stunned the over 80,000 Dortmund fans at the Park. Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah was an unused substitute for Mainz.

Bote Baku gave Mainz the lead after just four minutes and Yoshoro Muto made it 2-0 nine minutes later.
Maximilian Philipp pulled one back for Dortmund but Mainz held on to claim a famous win that preserved their stay in the German top flight.
The win took Mainz’s points haul to 36 from 33 matches and left them 14th in the 18-team table, six points better off than Wolfsburg who occupy the final relegation spot in 16th place.
Dortmund are third with 55 points.

Everton Loanee Wanted By Nigeria Nets Spectacular Double In Bundesliga

Nigeria Football Federation target Ademola Lookman hogged the headlines in Germany on Saturday afternoon for an awe-inspiring display, scoring a double for his loan club, RB Leipzig in their 4-1 win over Wolfsburg in their Bundesliga clash.

Another youngster courted by Nigeria, Felix Uduokhai, was on from start to finish for Die Wölfe in the cracker while former Flying Eagles wonder kid, Victor Osimhen was not listed in the visitors 18.
The Everton loanee opened the scoring at the Red Bull Arena after 24 minutes, sending a sizzling right-footer into the bottom corner after picking up a pass from teammate, Jean-Kévin Augustin.
The England U21 international would then notch a brace in the 52nd minute, prodding in another effort from the centre of the box off a Timo Werner's assist.
Lookman's loan spell with the Bulls have reaped much dividends, it must be said, with his latest string of goals taking his tally for Leipzig to four in ten appearances.
He would definitely be eyeing up more first team action if he joins up with the Tofees at the Goodison Park when his loan duration comes to a close at the end of this season.
Following the result, RB Leipzig are now placed sixth in the log with 50 points from 33 games while Wolfsburg continue to flirt with relegation, sitting in 16th.

Meanwhile some thought by now Osimhen would be tearing down defenses.

I have long learnt not to be carried away by U17 successes.

I rate players who are outstanding at the U20 more.

It does not count. We have even the likes of Toni Kroos, Fabregas, David Silva, Ronaldinho, David De Gea, Marcelo and many more become prolific after their U17 days. As long as Osimhen keeps working hard, his time will come.

Even under 20 can be deceptive.. Ronaldinho was not the best player in Nigeria 99 but players who performed much better than him disappeared from the scene.

Saviola was explosive at under 20, never quite reached the level expected of him.

Let me add a few more... Victor Moses (2007 U-17 for England), KANU (1993 U-17), Oruma (1993 U-17), Iheanacho (2013 U-17, and is Super Eagles' leading and most prolific scorer today), Mikel Obi (2003 U-17 before 2005 U-20), etc... etc...

Spoiler: Scorer of Nigeria's Afcon 2013 winning goal, Sunday MBA was also a product from the 2005 Golden Eaglets that failed to make it out of the group stage of the CAF U-17 Afcon.

We still have Isco, Pogba, Thiago Alcantara, Koke, Giovanni Dos Santos, Nuri Sahin, Djibril Cisse and many more who played in the U17 level for their countries.

Javier Saviola. Indeed you are spot on Sir Tbaba.

I also recall Dudu from UAE 2003 U-20, same tournament that had a certain Andreas Iniesta of Spain. Iniesta was not reckoned with much but Dudu was... Dudu faded but Iniesta went on to be world class. Same with Dani Alves who won Bronze ball... Dani Alves outshone the golden and silver ball winners (Ismail Matar and Dudu) based on who made it at the top of the game.

There are couple more of such examples of young talents who exploded at U-20 level but still didnt make the grade at senior level. Well said.

Dudu was the Bomb. I remember him in that final. Very good Brazilian team. I think Dudu was the captain. He later joined Cska Moscow. Definitely one of those that really disappointed. Others were Christian Timm of Germany, Nigeria 99, Galetti, Erico Kern, Bruno Gama, (aka 100 Carat gold), Freddy Adu, Vitor Pele who joined Inter Milan.

Those two @bolded vex me pass... Bruno Gama was touted as the next Rui Costa or so... quite talented he was but zilch... he did not pull through. Same with the former world famous super teen, Freddy Adu... his own ehn is just annoying. These stuffs happen.

I do others know what happened to Bruno Gama but back then, the young man was good with so much maturity in his play. Another I am not hearing is Pererinha.

Watch this clip and see Giovinco was worth the hype. Sad he did not reach the pinnacle of the game up he gave football wonderful memories.

This was during his Italian U21 days.

At 13, Adu was touted as the next Pele.. He entered the MLS at 14/15 and was playing with his elders at such a young age.

I think, he should have been allowed to have a nirmal development.

From that your list only Toni Kroos and Ronaldinho were really outstanding at the U17.

The other players blossomed as they advanced in age. Being an MVP or highest goal scorer at U17 does not mean you will be the best player of your generation or class.

At a point some of you were already reserving the number 9 jersey for Osimhen. You probably thought right from his first season at Wolfsburg he will start tearing down defenses.

Being a highest goal scorer at U17 shouldn't give you an automatic ticket to the Super Eagles. He still has to work hard to earn it. He doesn't even deserve the singlular cap he got under Rohr.

For now, he has not done enough to be considered.
