Saudi Arabia will reportedly start building churches for Christian Residents

Riyadh: For decades, Saudi Arabia has lacked official churches for Christian residents to practice their religious rituals. However, it seems like things are about to change, as the Muslim kingdom is reportedly set to build a number of churches on its lands.

According to Egypt Independent, Riyadh signed an agreement with the Vatican to build churches for Christian citizens during Vatican cardinal Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran's recent visit to the kingdom.

The kingdom has long banned the construction of churches, except those of touristic value.

Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdel Karim Al-Issa, reportedly signed the agreement with Tauran, the President of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue in the Vatican and the French cardinal of the Catholic Church.

As per the agreement, a joint committee comprising representatives from both parties will be established to organize future meetings, which will alternate between Rome and a city chosen by the Islamic World League.

Last month, Tauran became the first senior Catholic authority to visit the kingdom

The cardinal's visit to the kingdom in mid-April was the first of its kind by such a senior Catholic authority.

"It is a sign that the Saudi authorities are now ready to give a new image to the country," Tauran told Vatican News after the visit.

Prior to Tauran's visit, several senior Saudi figures met with representatives of other Christian traditions. In November 2017, Lebanon's Maronite Patriarch, Bechara Al-Rai, became the first Catholic cardinal to ever visit the kingdom.

A new study revealed Saudis are embracing coexistence and religious diversity

A recent extensive field study on societal coexistence in Saudi Arabia revealed that Saudis are embracing the idea of religious diversity and integration of other cultures in society.

Titled "Coexistence in Saudi society," the research was conducted by the Department of Studies and Research at the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue and mainly targeted the cities of Dammam, Hofuf, Al-Mubarraz, Khobar, Medina, Mecca, and Najran.

Among other conclusions, the research found that 95 percent of Saudis respect others who may have different religious beliefs.

Saudi Arabia's crown prince is pushing for a "moderate Islam"

Back in March, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke about his efforts to return the kingdom to "moderate Islam" in an interview with American journalist Norah O’Donnell.

MbS pointed out that the conservative policies of Saudi Arabia are not historically part of the kingdom nor Islam.

"This is not the real Saudi Arabia. I would ask your viewers to use their smartphones to find out. And they can google Saudi Arabia in the 70s and 60s, and they will see the real Saudi Arabia easily in the pictures," he said at the time.

Under the new leadership of Prince Mohammed and his father King Salman, things are changing rapidly in the kingdom, especially for women.

Just in the past year, Saudi Arabia moved to guarantee women the right to drive, opened up new opportunities in the security services and the military to women, and opened traditionally male-only events to allow women to attend. When asked if women are equal to men, the crown prince responded with a firm "absolutely."

The Church is marching on and the gates of Jihadists shall not prevail over it.

Rome should build a massive cathedral in Riyadh. Christianity is now about to take the battle to the heart of Satan's kingdom. Watch as more Islamic violence erupts as Muslims will start to hate Saudi Arabia for its reforms.

statements like this are what could reverse the policy. Would you be pleased if your guest refers to you as a demon? It is quit things that will follow. Let's learn to live and let live. If God had wanted all to be of your religion from the onset and yet did not make it so, we all should leave it at that as well and not make enemies of the 'others'. Peace and love dear, peace and love.

before man went into space, the church believed the earth was flat and even killed a great man (Galileo) on charges of heresy for stating otherwise. Hell was believed to be below us till geologists discovered magma.

We have been wrong many times in the past and there still remains many more corrections which is why it seems the church is more gentle after being served many times and so we should take a cue from that and avoid unnecessary conflict with what is not even in our own religious scope.

Cheers love.

The Bible never said the earth was flat. It said it is round. Stop spreading falsehood.
