tbaba1234: Mikel is the Overwhelming favorite for that AM position. Anything that Moves him to play a deep midfield position is counter productive. Mikel is the player that has the most intelligent Final passes in that team so we need him directly behind the forwards. Just those killer passes that will set the forwards on errands. Onazi, Joel, or Etebo can play at the CM position while iwobi can play from one of the wings positions. 1 Like |

Ehmmm... Chief... We are talking 4-3-3 akin to having both Kroos and Modric with Casemiro as their henchman or having Xavi and Iniesta with Busquets doing the dirty work. Mikel-Iwobi-Ndidi could potentially be that beautiful to see. No be 4-2-3-1 or its variant we dey yarn oooo.... Icon4s: 1 Like |

tbaba1234:I've been saying the same thing on here for ages now. It would do our build up play a whole world of good. I'd play Etebo on the left so he and Iwobi can swap position during the game. Etebo with his crazy stamina would help defensively out wide and in the middle if required. 2 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: You think Rohr is going to start with a 4-3-3 in this WC? Particularly that Croatian team that is loaded in the midfield? Except you guys are just on a fantasy. 2 Likes |

I know Rohr won't which is the ONLY reason I ended my thoughts on this with a but and then a shrug.... lol... (plus he has not even tried it yet... has he thought of it? can't say) But Rohr aside... this could be magic for The Super Eagles on the field of play. Maybe not against Croatia but against most oppositions. Icon4s: |

TheSuperNerd: I have thought of that Midfield combo before too. But looking at what we have ahead of us it looks unlikely. |

Loogan: For someone who claims to be an agent you make sweeping statements that are way too general. These are propositions without substance particularly the see the bold. Do you know that at youth level there are multiple clubs that actively target African origin players because of thier inherent attributes. You could call that reverse racism. For instance I have watched Chelsea fuels am U18 team where apart from the goalkeeper all the players were black. Go to Man U look at the U18 and see how many are Nigerian origin. There is no youth academy in the top 6 of the EPL that doesn't have a considerable number of Nigerian origin youth players. |

Icon4s: Look at the Zambia and Argentina games... Iwobi and Mikel combination in the middle was really good.. See the freekick against Argentina and the third goal... They work well together when Iwobi comes to the middle. |

tbaba1234:That boy needs space. In the middle he feels he's in control but on the wings he has to have the lines and play touchline football |

Icon4s: our game against Croatia will be a battle of the midfield , and who wins the battle at the centre wins the game , forget Manzukic ..... we have Ighalo ... i will not be surprise to see a midfield combo that will be too tight for them to break , but if we must win , we need a mobile midfield , ( the young blood midfield , with the experienced anchorman to pass the instructions . 6 Likes |

Kog45:I still.think you don't play a misfit to get goals...the few gambles that later turned success stories you game up there are one out of many thousands.... it's like messing up a good player playing Moses Simon on the flank can still birth goals...all the coach need do is to communicate his aggressive strategies to them... |

tbaba1234: Against Zambia Iwobi played as a Winger (in both legs) and against Argentina Iwobi was a pseudo-9. We cannot play Iwobi and Mikel together in the midfield. This is suggestive of a 4-3-3 formation where Mikel and Iwobi will sit behind the 3 forwards with the DM behind the duo. This could create gaps behind as we know Iwobi is a player that loves moving forward and taking on defenders. This could often reduce the midfield to a 4-2-4. Play that against Croatia and we get hammered. 2 Likes |

Humility017: Simon Moses is not productive enough to make any starting line up for any formation you propose. He plays with so much energy and pace but his final products are always poor. 1 Like |

Icon4s: Tactically, Iwobi looks much more dangerous when he comes inside even when he starts from the wings.. This is what we saw against Zambia. Perhaps, the best solution is to start from the wings but give him the freedom to come to the middle and combine with Mikel. That way, we do not necessarily sacrifice defensive strength. 4 Likes |

The role played by Both Nacho and Iwobi were false 9s or what we call pseudo-strikers. It was a double false 9 approach. Humility017: |

Icon4s: Look at the case of Coach Rohr sending keeper trainers to work with our keepers. That is a clear case of a National team doing more to nurture their bright talents. A case of Rohr working with Awaziem and Osimhen in camp. The foreigners have a system that helps a large pool of their players have good nurturing before the National team proper. We do not, so we need to do more to help our players grow. |

lexyman: Against Croatia I'll want Rohr to start with a 3-5-2 ... A midfield combo of Ndidi- Etebo- Mikel.. Croatia midfield will likely have Rakitic Modric and Kovacic and we all know how good they are... Ndidi with his pace and tackling skill can break down their passing... I'm picking Etebo over Ogu, Onazi and Joel due to his stamina and work rate... it will come in handy.... 1 Like |

Not happening. Iheanacho ahead of Onyekuru for me. In this set-up, I cannot replace Nacho's lethal instincts and technical aptitude with Onyekuru's driving runs when we have a Moses already. Never. Victor Moses is there already. I need Nacho's intelligent movements and intricate passing to complement Moses' beautiful power dribbling runs... So it is Nacho over Onyekuru anytime anyday.
