Hey guys. I am new here and I am writing a book. I hope people see this and comment. Enjoy!

CHAPTER 1

It was a Monday morning in the University Of Lagos, Nigeria. Everyone in the department of Architecture 200 level dreaded Monday mornings because of Mr. Adelabu. He made ARC201 hell for everybody and he made sure nobody got more than a ‘B’ in his course. I struggled with my hand bag and drawing sheets as I walked out of my hostel. I live off campus but I take a shorter route and I get to my lecture theater in less than fifteen minutes. I noted to myself that I would get a bag for my drawing sheets before the week runs out. The time was 7:50 am and the class was for 8:00 am. I walked briskly and as fast as my legs could go but I knew I still wouldn’t make it in time for the class because I wasn’t anything close to the lecture theater. I looked across the road and noticed a big bill board with ‘DEPENDENT INVESTMENT LIMITED’ boldly written on it.
‘Daddy’…I muttered to myself.

My name is Akinlabi Omolara. People call me Lara for short. I am the only child of my parents. My Parents had me after ten years of marriage and from the story I heard, I was meant to come as a boy so I wore a lot of blue the first month I was born. My mum is a business woman and she has a big store on the Lagos island . My dad was a lawyer before we lost him four years ago after a brief illness. We all didn’t see that coming. My dad was like my pillar. We did almost everything together and that wasn’t too difficult considering the fact that I’m the only child. I miss him so much and I still feel he is with us sometimes.
I wish I wasn’t the only child most times because most of the responsibilities fell on me and I didn’t have anyone to play with at home apart from my mum and dad. They didn’t make me feel lonely and they made sure they always had time for me not considering their jobs. My parents gave me enough training and ensured I wasn’t a spoilt child even though I got everything I asked for. I went to the best primary and secondary school in the state and I always came out first after every term. I remember always looking forward to the gifts i would receive from my parents after coming home with my report card. Those were good memories. I got into the university at the age of 18. Even though I had a very fast basic education, my mum made me wait till I clocked 18 before proceeding to the higher institution. I still feel the reasons she gave me were not valid but I didn’t really have a say.
A sudden hoot of a horn brought me back to the present and I realized I have been standing on the same spot for a while now
‘Aunty carry your yansh commot for road. Abi you wan make we comot am for you’… the driver of the popular yellow danfo shouted as he drove past me. I looked at him with disgust in my eyes.
‘Shit’ I checked the time and I saw there was no way Adelabu would allow me into the class. He doesn’t even accept a minute lateness. I decided to make my way back to the hostel.
‘Let me just go and eat abeg’’ I thought to myself.
My hostel is a story building. Our landlord occupies the four bed room flat with his two wives and five children upstairs and the occupants downstairs were mostly students apart from Chinedu who was about getting married to his Akwa Ibom babe in few weeks’ time. There were five self contains downstairs and I occupied the one directly in front of Chinedu’s apartment. I get tired of hearing the noises from his room at night whenever his girlfriend is around. I feel he is going to kill her someday. That is their business, not mine.
I walked into my room and started thinking about what to cook. I remembered I had yam at home and I could boil and eat it with mayonnaise. After peeling the yam, I laid on my bed while listening to it boil on my small gas cooker. I prayed silently that the gas doesn’t finish because it’s been a while I filled the cylinder. Surprisingly, I was feeling really sleepy even after my 7 hours sleep during the night.
‘Lara! Lara! Lara! Are you not inside?’ I opened my eyes and perceived it! My yam was burning .I didn’t even know when I slept off. I jumped off bed and went straight to the kitchen then I heard the voice again.
‘Lara!!!. Open the door before you burn the house down!’…Cynthia’s voice rang in my ear again.
I dropped the yam and put off the fire and went to open the door for my roommate.
Cynthia came in and used her eyes to scan the room like she was looking for an evil spirit.
‘What’s up?’ I asked her
‘What’s up is that you kept me outside for more than 30 minutes and you wanted to burn down the whole house!’
Meet Cynthia, my roommate since 100 level. She is a year older than me and likes behaving like my mother. She is the definition of a party rider. One minute she is in the room and the next minute she is in a club. I wonder how she passes in school because she is on a freaking first class…and here I am struggling with a second class upper. She is a microbiology student but will always remind anybody that cares to listen that she isn’t using her certificate at the end of the day. Now the question is why is she even in school?
‘I’m sorry. I couldn’t make it to class so I decided to come back and I didn’t even know when I slept off. Moreover, where is your own key?’
‘I forgot my key at Banji’s place. I saw Temi on the road and she told me she saw you returning back home so I didn’t bother going back’
‘Oh okay’ I said.
‘I even have hot gist for you but I’m hungry. The food don burn finish?’ she asked as she made her way to the kitchen.
I sat unbothered on one of the chairs in the sitting room and starred at a soldier ant as it made its way towards the bathroom door. i was just too tired to stand up to kill it or to even call Cynthia to come kill it. I didn’t have appetite again even though I can swear I could have finished a whole elephant just about an hour ago.
‘The yam no burn finish. We don’t have eggs at home so I go manage am with butter. Man just dey hungry’ Cynthia declared as she sat on the chair directly in front of me.
‘I intended using mayonnaise also but I don’t even have appetite again’’
‘Shooo…you no get appetite? Wetin enter you abeg?’ she asked
‘Nothing’…I replied.
‘Abi it is Tobi that is doing you. Let us know now o’ she teased
Tobi is her cousin who was always coming to our apartment with gifts and groceries all because of me. He liked me obviously but I’m still not sure if he just wants to get into my pant. I didn’t like him and I still don’t know the reason why. He was like every girl’s dream. He was tall, dark, smart and handsome. He did everything so right whenever he was with me. I think that’s the reason why I feel he is hiding something. A man cannot be all perfect. I am sure there is something wrong somewhere and I’m not ready to find that out yet.
‘What concerns Tobi in this matter now?’ I asked
‘Anyways, do you know that Amanda is pregnant?’
‘What!! Are you serious?’ I exclaimed
‘Yes, i know right? I was also shocked when I heard about it. You won’t believe who she got pregnant for’
‘Who? I asked really interested.
‘Seyi! Your course mate’ she said with her mouth full of yam.
‘Are you serious? The same Seyi?’ I asked’
‘Yes o. Who would have imagined that the both of them were doing such? I never expected it actually. That Amanda that can attend church for Africa. From morning service till night service. The thing just weak me’ she said
‘What a wawu! This is really interesting. How did you even know all of this?’ I asked even though I knew she would have gotten the gist from her boyfriend, Banji who was like the main carrier of both good and bad news in school. Only God knows where he gets his information from.

‘Banji told me o. He said Seyi’s brother’s friend’s girlfriend’s cousin told him’ she said as she tried remembering the family tree.

‘Haba, and you think this news is real? Imagine where the news came from. I won’t believe until the Seyi or Amanda tells me personally’ I said

‘We all know Banji can’t carry what isn’t true na’ She added

Also, did you know that Bolanle and Chika got robbed on their way to the hotel to meet that Alhaji they were talking about the other day?’. She stopped to drink some water

‘Haaaa. Are you kidding? I questioned

‘Person go use that kind thing play?’’ she asked

‘They stole everything from them. They even stole their shoes’ she added, laughing

‘I hope they didn’t get hurt’ I said, feeling very sorry for them

‘They are okay. They were not touched. I wish they had beaten them join. Maybe they would have learnt their lessons’ She replied

‘Thank God it wasn’t more than that o. I’m sure the alhaji will be the one to pay for the whole thing.’ I said

‘Before nko?’

‘I have a date tomorrow night’ I said after a brief silence

‘You’re going on a date and you didn’t tell me!’

‘I guess I have some tricks up my sleeve’

‘So who are you going on a date with?
‘Lolu’ I said and picked up my phone to check the time. I wasn’t going to say anything more and she noticed from my expression and she kept to herself.

CHAPTER 2

Harmattan is fun until your lips start peeling off like the scale of a snake under the sun. It’s quite surprising that harmattan came early. It’s just November. I was fully dressed in a long light pink gown with white heels but I still carried a jacket because the weather is quite harsh.

Cynthia and I had gone shopping after lunch on Monday and had bought a necklace with matching earrings and some bracelets. She made sure I didn’t look like a clown because she feels I can’t look good if I get dressed myself.

‘This is like your first date since 100 level first semester. I hope this works out well for you. Lolu is a fine boy and he seems like a really cool guy. Please make this work. I want to see you happy again after what Ore did to you’’ Cynthia said.

‘Please don’t remind me about that. Ore is the past. This is the present’ I said as I adjusted the gown on my body.
Oreoluwa Benson. This guy can get you wet even when there is drought. He just knows the right words to say and the right button to press. I found myself talking to him almost all the time on the phone. He was in his final year when I was in my first year. I saw the handwriting on the wall but I just choose to ignore it. He was a cheating bastard and I fell into his trap. I found out about his cheating skills when I caught him in bed with a lady who he swore to me was a cousin even after I caught them together. I didn’t know incest was now legal in Nigeria. I left him without looking back but I had a tough time because I was already attached to him. Sometimes I wish I never met him.
‘I am sorry I reminded you about him. Just make this better because I want you to be happy’
‘It’s okay. Not like this guy even asked me to be his girlfriend. He only asked me out on a date. Don
’t get it twisted’
‘Let’s just be positive’
‘That’s how you will just leave me tonight to listen to Chinedu and his babe alone’ she said sadly
‘The babe is around?’ I asked surprised
‘I saw her spreading clothes in the backyard this afternoon’
‘Eeya. You too should try going out. You can go out with few of your friends. Doesn’t have to be Banji’
‘I want to rest this night. We both know that I need the rest’
‘True’
I checked my phone and saw that the Uber I ordered was arriving soon. I placed a call to the driver and he said he was almost at my hostel. I checked the mirror again and applied little powder to adjust the make up on my face. The driver arrived and we left after a surprisingly one minute prayer from Cynthia that only talked about me getting laid.

Lagos is one of the largest cities in West Africa, inhabited by more than 20 million people. What you would experience in Lagos is determined based on some key factors even though I believe income would influence all other factors. There seems to be a frenetic pace to every activity on the streets of Lagos except, of course, during weekend parties popularly called ‘owambe’. The famous ‘danfo’ buses, ‘keke Napep,’ and ‘Okada,’ which are the major transport services in this city, helps to highlight the pace and the ruggedness of this city. Lagos is a very beautiful city. I was born and brought up here and I would start my own family here.

I stared out the window of the car and noticed how busy people were even at that time of the day. My Lagos people don’t dull. That is even when business booms the most. I stopped to check my time. It was 7 pm. Well, women are known for coming late for dates so he would understand. A message came in from him almost immediately and I smiled when I saw him refer to me as ‘madam’. He was already there and was waiting for me. I replied and told him I would be there in less than fifteen minutes if the road is free because Lagos is very famous for traffic. Simi’s ‘Joromi’ played on the radio and I sang along because it is one of my best tracks.

We got to ‘Alalo’ at exactly 7:19 pm. The date was meant to be by 7:00 pm. Alalo is located at a calm section of Ikeja. They sell uniquely prepared local dishes. I don’t know why Lolu choose this spot but I had a feeling I was going to like it. I got in and found him sitting at a corner starring at the screen of his phone.
‘Hey’ I muttered

‘Hey’ he said and looked up to look at me with a smile that showed a perfect dentition.

‘He sure looks like a Yoruba demon’ I thought to myself

‘I’m sorry I’m late. You know women and their dressing wahala’ I said and sat down.

‘It’s ok. I have three sisters so I know how it is. How are you?’

I saw concern and care in his eyes. I started wondering if there was something he was hiding from me. Does he feel pity for me? Why? Maybe

I’m just imagining things.

‘I am fine. How are you?’

‘I’m fine also. You look stunning by the way’

‘Thank you’ I said and shifted a little on the chair

‘Are you uncomfortable?’

‘No I am not’

The waiter came with the menu and I selected a plate of ofada rice with snails and chapman to go along with it. He ordered the same but with

a glass of white wine.

The whole date thing seemed awkward to me but I had to act normal so I won’t get caught.

‘So, do you come out often?’ he asked almost immediately the waiter left

‘Not really but I can’t be indoor all through my life na’

He smiled

Damn! Those teeth.

‘You are not Rapunzel’

I smiled as I remember the Disney character.

We ate and chatted about our childhood, school, family, celebrities and crushes. We had a lot of similar likes and dislikes. He seemed like a

very nice person. James Author’s ‘Say you won’t let go’ started playing in the stereo.

He stood up and with an outstretched hand asked if I could dance with him

‘Sure’ I replied.

The dance was a beautiful one and I basked in the moment as a reptile basks in the heat of the sun. The time suddenly became slow and I
remembered the first time I met him.

I was a fresher and was just getting used to the system in a university. I was looking for where to make photocopy when I bumped into him.

We both scrambled on the floor to get my stuff and that was when I saw him. Typical naija movie but this was just too real. He smiled at me and said sorry in a really soft tone. I knew I was still going to end up in his arms someday. We got quite close after a while but he was always secretive with me. He never really told me what he wanted from me and I didn’t want to be too forward so I never made my intentions known to him. I met him before I met Ore but Ore shot his shot first.
‘What are you thinking about, Lara?’

His question brought me back to the present and I replied

‘Nothing. I’m just savoring the moment’

‘Good because it is about to get better’

I smiled.

Chapter 3

I sat with my eyes fixed on the laptop screen but I knew I wasn’t listening or watching. My mind kept wandering back to the night I spent with Lolu. I was reminiscing every moment. It’s been four days after the date and I couldn’t get my mind off him. He had kissed me after the date and asked me to be his girlfriend. I didn’t hesitate for even a second and my yes must have been said in various languages because he was just laughing. He didn’t come with his car due to some reasons so another Uber was ordered, He followed me home before asking the driver to drive him home. We kissed again in the car and said our byes
.
He has been good to me these past few days and was always calling to check on me. I knew I was head over heels for him but I knew there was something wrong somewhere also. I don’t know much about Lolu and every time I try asking him about his family or close friends, he changes the topic. It is like he doesn’t want to be open to me. Maybe he doesn’t trust me enough. Could he be hiding something?

I kept those thoughts away and tried focusing on the laptop. My best series was on but I wasn’t even interested again. I remembered I had an assignment and decided to work on it. Cynthia came in after about fifteen minutes with her boyfriend and I knew I had to vacate the room soon.

‘Hey babes, what’s up?’ she said as she stepped in.

‘I am fine’ I replied.

For one thing, I don’t really like her boyfriend. He wasn’t the ideal boyfriend but Cynthia never saw the wrong in him. She loves him like that. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder they say.

‘Hello Lara’ Banji said and made his way to the bedroom.

Banji never knows his place. He goes about people’s business like it is his own. Ever heard of dragging your own load and carrying someone else’s own on your head? He is a typical example and he just doesn’t know when to stop.

‘I’m fine!’ I shouted to indicate he was over stepping his boundary.

Cynthia laughed. I really don’t know what’s funny because I was really pissed. I picked up my jacket and phone and stepped out of the house with no destination. I just wanted to leave the house. I tried calling Lolu but the network wasn’t favorable. I choose to call my mum then. She picked after the third ring

‘Hello mummy. Good afternoon’

‘Good Afternoon my daughter. How are you?’ Her voice sprang from the other end of the phone.

‘I’m fine thank you ma. How is your health now?’

‘My health is much better now my love. The devil has been shamed’

My mother is a very spiritual woman and she believes the devil is behind every little accident. I remember when I was really little and I had chicken pox. My mum took me to her pastor’s place and they prayed for me for three straight days after convincing her that it was my dad’s younger sister that wanted to kill me so he won’t have any child to inherit his properties. I still ended up using drugs because the ‘prayers’ didn’t work. I still wonder why she believed such with her level of education.

‘Okay ma. How’s business? Hope Ronke is now behaving normal?’

‘Haaaa… I have sent Ronke packing o. She finally got pregnant for that igbo yahoo yahoo boy that has a shop beside us. The boy denied the pregnancy and travelled to Malaysia to go and sell his remaining kidney’ she said

Nigerian mothers and their ever ready gist. How did she even know all of these?

‘Eeya that’s so bad. Where is she now?’ I asked

‘She is staying with her aunt in Ibadan till the guy comes back and probably accepts the child if he hasn’t sold his esophagus too’ she said and hissed
I began to wonder who would still be alive to sell body parts after selling his ‘remaining kidney’.

I smiled ...‘I pray she gives birth safely. I just wanted to check on you and to ask about your health’ I concluded

‘Thank you my daughter. God bless you. I hope school is fine? Hope there are no issues?’

‘School is fine mum and there are no issues’

‘Ok….’

She prayed for me for about two minutes and we said our good byes.

I was now getting closer to the junction of the street still with no destination. I called Lolu again and it rang this time around but he didn’t pick up. I stopped by a shop to get a bottle of cold soda and I set out to see Lolu.

‘Let me surprise him’ I thought to myself.

I made my way down to the junction and boarded a bike.

‘Adetula Street’ I told him

We were there under five minutes and I pointed the house to him. I alighted and gave him my fare.

I entered the gate and went straight to his apartment. I knocked on his door the first time and there was no answer. The second knock brought about footsteps from the other side of the door. I was glad he was home.
‘Who is there?’ a voice asked

‘It is Lara’ I said projecting my voice a little bit.
He opened the door and I saw that he must have been asleep.

‘Hey babe’ I said and wanted to make my way inside his house

He suddenly looked surprised and tried preventing me from entering but I did.

I immediately scanned the room with my eyes and made sure things were in the right place and no woman was hiding anywhere.
‘What are you doing here?’ he shot at me

‘Wow, what am I doing in my lover’s house?’
As if that was a reminder that we were dating, he was suddenly all smiles and he made to hug me.

‘Don’t mind me babe. I guess the sleep got the better part of me’

I hugged him and sat on one of the sofas in the room. I looked around the sitting room. This was the second time coming here and there seemed to be a lot that has changed. I just couldn’t pin point it.

‘What will you like to eat?’ he asked

Why is he making it so formal? Am I not his babe anymore? Did I make a mistake by surprising him?…I thought to myself

‘Is that what you are meant to be saying? Are you not happy to see me?’ I asked

He scratched his head a little ..’I am happy to see you. I told you I just woke up so I am not well balanced yet’

He sat on the chair opposite me and put on the television set. Our attention was focused on the tv for about thirty minutes. I didn’t want things to be awkward so I made to sit down beside him and he suddenly shifted on the chair. I felt very uncomfortable suddenly and stood up.

‘I am leaving’ I muttered

‘Babe you just came and you are leaving already. What happened?

‘You happened! You have been treating me like crap right from when I set foot inside here today. I hugged you and u didn’t even flinch. You just let me all by myself and asking me what I want to eat. Really? Did I come here because I was hungry?’ I said almost at the top of my voice. I walked towards the door and Lolu didn’t even stand up. He didn’t try defending himself. He watched me go and I heard the sound of the key locking the door almost immediately I stepped out.

tosintee where art thou? Your fans are waiting for updates.
Also you need to change this title before the story hits the front page. Or else you won't be able to rectify it again. Just put the title instead.
I am sorry for the late update. I type on my laptop at work coz I am just about to get new personal laptop this week. I wasn't able to update during the weekend. I will make sure I do so today. I am sorry readers

CHAPTER 4

Lolu’s POV

I sat back on the chair and realized I might have made a mistake. I shouldn’t have allowed her go just like that. I suddenly felt pity for her but I am not allowed to. I didn’t want to fall into a trap that I set myself.

‘Fvck it’ I said.

I got up and made for the bathroom. I picked up my phone to check the time and I saw ‘her’ missed call.

I called her back and she picked up almost immediately

‘Hey what’s up?’

‘Where the hell did you put your phone? I have been calling you’ she shouted into my ear

‘You called me only once and I called back immediately I saw the call’ I tried to sound calmly.

‘I heard she was around. What happened?’
‘You knew she was around and you were calling me? How smart can you be?’

She laughed ‘you think I will allow her to just be with you inside and not make any attempt to distract you. I don’t trust you that much you know?’
‘So you don’t trust me and you gave me the job. I am really tired of all these. If you want me to stop just tell me. I will stop’

‘Why are you talking as if you don’t know what is at stake?’

‘I know what is at stake that’s why I am doing all of these. You think it is easy calling and saying romantic stuffs to someone I don’t love? You know it’s only you that I have in my heart and it’s really difficult doing all of these because it doesn’t come from my heart’

‘Just do this for us. Do it for us. This is revenge. It is very sweet revenge. I want her to come begging at my feet before I can let her go’ she said very wickedly

‘You know you haven’t given me the reason why you are doing this’ I said and stepped into the bathroom

‘I will tell you when the time comes. Just make sure you do what I required of you and keep it up for six months and I will be all yours fully. Then we can get married and start our own lives’

‘Okay then. I will. I am only doing this because I really want you in my life and I know I can’t survive well without having you. You also need to promise me that you won’t allow that stupid boyfriend of yours touch you again’ I said angrily

‘Don’t call him stupid because you know he is also in the plan even though he is ignorant of that fact’
‘I know I know’. No wahala. I will call you later. I need to have my bath’

‘Don’t call me till night though. I have some stuffs that I need to settle’

‘Alright. I love you’
She hung up. I knew she heard me but I was used to it. Sometimes I feel she was just using me and she might not even love me one bit but because of the words she says to me sometimes I feel I might be thinking wrongly.

She was just perfect for me and I would do anything to get her in my arms even if it involves killing.

I had my bath and wore a polo shirt with a short. i wanted to just take a stroll down the street but I wanted a cold drink also so I decided to get one when coming back.
I got outside and saw Lara outside. Apparently, she has been waiting for me.i couldn’t ignore her.
‘What’s up?’ I said as I approached her
‘What’s up?’
‘Is that what you are meant to say? ….’what’s up?’ You think I don’t have emotions? It’s just four days and you are treating me this way. Do I deserve it?’
Does she deserve it? I asked myself
‘I am sorry. You came when I was in a bad mood. I think I had a bad dream when I slept.
‘Was that too difficult for you to say? Did I bite you after saying it? This is a relationship. We are meant to always talk about our challenges. We should be able to be really free with each other. I didn’t agree to date you because I wanted to make you go through hell. I agreed to date you because I believe we both can have a chance in love’ she said

‘I am sorry. Lets go back inside. I didn’t know I was going to meet you here’
I suddenly felt bad. Isn’t it too soon to start treating her like this?

‘I wasn’t able to get bike so I had to wait. Moreover, the sun isn’t encouraging’

I held her hand and we walked back to my apartment.

I looked at her very well and for the first time today, I noticed she was putting on a short gown that really looked sexy on her.
She looks really innocent even though her body structure says otherwise. She was very complete and any man would be ready to bow at her feet because she completed it with a beautiful face that was ready to smile even in bad situations.

Why am I doing this? How has she wronged me? These questions keep creeping in my head but I found no answers.

‘So, do you have anything we can eat or should I make food for us?’ She said as we made our way inside the house
‘I have cereal. We can eat that’

‘Cereal ke? Is that one food? If there are no foodstuffs at home then I can go get some and make a proper meal’

‘Well, there is nothing at home.. I only have onions. I’m pretty sure we can’t just boil that and eat’
She smiled ‘I will just rush down to the nearby market and get stuffs. I will make rice and chicken stew. Will that be okay?’

I nodded in affirmative and made for my pocket to get her cash. She said I shouldn’t worry and rushed out.

I sat in thought. She seems like a nice girl. I am beginning to wonder why I would want to help someone do such to her. Is this what love can push one to do?

Am I making a mistake?

CHAPTER 5
‘Her’ POV

I am furious. I am angry. I still want revenge.

I am scared. I am frightened. What if things backfire?

Am I overreacting?

I keep pacing round the room. I don’t even know what to do? In What other way can I punish her? Ore was no use and now Lolu is slacking.

‘Lolu is just a bast#rd’ I cursed

I sat down after gulping down a glass of red wine and tried calming down. Most times in this situation, I result to having sxx but my boyfriend just left and I just have to satisfy myself.

The scar on my leg started to hurt again and I hated Lara more. I won’t let go of the past because the scar keeps reminding me of the past. The scar reminded me of how my life changed right after it.How opportunities came and I couldn’t grab them because I was holding on to something else. How I started limping and became what I didn’t want to become. Revenge is sweet and I am taking it to another level. I will make Lara and her family know that you don’t hurt an Edo girl and go scot free.

My roommate will soon be back so I have to hurry with whatever I want to do. The thought of calling my boyfriend came to mind to see if we can still run things but I remembered he had to go see his sister. I lay down and brought out the only thing that could make me happy and at ease right now. I got to work and I started reminiscing.

His hands on my body felt like ice and it sent shivers all over my body. Why is he the only one that comes to my head in situations like this? I closed my eyes and I saw him. He was about twenty years older but he didn’t act like it.i remembered the way he lifted my legs and kissed them. Every stroke was like a step into heaven. His stroke and mine were like symmetric with each other and I knew I was close to ecstasy already. I erupted after about five minutes and I felt energy been drained out of me.. I stopped and realized I had been clenching on the bed sheet. I released my hand and buried my face in the bed after keeping the item back in my wardrobe. Then she came back
‘Babes!!!! … she shouted from the door.

‘What’s up?’ I knew I sounded uninterested in whatever she had to say

‘Haba, welcome me in well na. were we fighting before?. Anyways, even if you don’t want to hear the gist, me I will tell you. I had so so much fun with bae today. i know you have always wanted me to be happy and give him a chance. I can say proudly that I am glad I did’ she said and jumped on the bed beside me.

‘I am glad you did. Did you guys go out?’

‘We didn’t o. we were indoor. I made us food and we ate, watched tv, played games and gisted. At least I know more about him now because he opened up more to me. I was really worried at first that he was only pretending to me’

I sat up ‘So what are the things he told you? Did he tell you secrets too?’

‘Haba, what is your own? It is me and his business. All I know is I think I want to spend the rest of my life with him’

‘Well, if you really like him you can be with him. I cant make decisions for you. You know I am always behind you. Always be careful babe’’
‘Thanks love. I will always be careful because I have had enough with guys’

She stands up and made for the kitchen. ‘Babe no food?’ she asked

‘The one wey you chow for your bobo house no reach you. Come sef…Did you guys do the do?’ I shouted from the room
There is silence and she didn’t say a thing for another 2 minutes.

She came into the room ‘No we didn’t. I swear we were about to but he stopped. He suddenly backed out’I had to be sure that I wasn’t smelling o’

‘I thought you have never had sex before’’

‘I am not talking about sex. Just making out and he stopped after kissing me for a while. I didn’t tell him I haven’t done shii before tho’ she explained

‘’Maybe he is only taking his time. We both know he is a gentle man. He must have seen that you are Virgin Mary mother of Jesus’ I jested and laughed

She threw a pillow at me and went back to the kitchen.

My plans must work.

Lara must limp also and die a painful death. Revenge is sweet when served chilled.

CHAPTER 6

Lara’s POV

It was a Friday morning and I had a good feeling about this even after the nightmare I had. I turned over from the bed and I noticed Cynthia was out of bed already. I said a silent prayer and stepped out of bed. It was a lecture free day so I decided to do laundry. I haven’t done laundry in a week already.

I got outside the apartment and saw the landlord. I was about turning back immediately to avoid the normal early morning ‘bants’ from him when he suddenly called my name

‘Omolara! Good morning’ he shouted

‘Good morning oga landlord’ I said and went on my knees to show I’m a well-trained Yoruba girl.

‘My daughter, how was your night?’

‘My night was very fine sir. How about yours?’

‘We thank God o. My night would have been perfect but my wives are always trying to make my life a living hell. It is by God’s grace that I am alive today’ he said

I wonder how he expects me to pity him?

Did I ask him to bring him two hefty, huge, fat, enormous women as his wife? The man doesn’t know his size at all. His first wife is even still better. The second one is the mad woman. I don’t even greet her again after the day she threatened to sit on my head when she poured water from her apartment upstairs and I complained.

‘All is well sir. You will be fine’ I tried to sound sorry

‘I am even thinking of getting a small wife. The one that will give me peace of mind. She will be bigger than these ones so that she won’t feel intimidated. Or what do you think my daughter?’

‘Oga landlord, you can do anything you want to do. As long as you are okay with it and you have enough to take care of all of them’ I said and acted like I needed to go as soon as possible but he didn’t take the clue.

‘Thanks for the advice my dear, I always knew you were smarter than that your one legged roommate. That is even by the way; please can you help me find out if Iya Binta, the one selling food at the junction likes me? I have been giving her eyes all this while but she doesn’t even look at me’

Even as an educated man, my landlord was looking like a total illiterate to me right now. Iya Binta of all people….haaaa…now I know what he means by ‘she will be bigger than these ones’. That woman is like his two wives bodies joined together into one and maybe an extra 5kg. Does he want to kill himself? How can he call Iya Binta small wife. Iya Binta is far from being calm and a lot of incidents have proven that. I don’t even want to think about that right now.

‘Oga landlord, Iya Binta is the best for you. Can’t you even see the load she is carrying? I will try to ask her for you. I know she will like you even if doesn’t like you now’ I said sarcastically. But not everybody understands sarcasm.

‘Haaaaa. Omolara thank you very much. You see why you are useful to me?. Don’t worry, pay just #1,500 for NEPA this month. I will pay the rest’

NEPA money that is just #1,700. This man too like money.

‘Thank you Landlord. I will like to take my leave now. I have to do laundry’

‘Ok my daughter. Don’t forget what we spoke about. I will be need reports as you proceed on the mission’ He said as he walks away
Why is he suddenly sounding as if I’m working for the FBI?

‘Okay sir’ I went back into my apartment. I saw Cynthia inside already.

‘Morning babe. Your phone rang. Ore called’ she said

‘Ore called me?’ I asked shocked.

‘The caller read ORE abi what did you save his number with?’ she spelt the name

‘True I saved his number with Ore but why will call me? What business do we have together?’ I got my phone and was about to redial his
number when Cynthia told me not to call him but I should wait for his call to see if he would call back.

I was still holding the phone when he suddenly called back. I picked

‘Hello’ he said

‘Hey’ I responded

‘What’s up?’

‘I am fine. You?’

‘I’m ok’

There was silence that seemed like forever

‘We need to talk. There is something really important I want to talk to you about’ He said.
