The vagina is, no doubt, the most delicate part of a woman's body and as such should be given special attention. They've taught you to wash it with soap, spray it with various body sprays and use tampons when in periods, among other things. However, some of these things you were equipped with need to be changed now.

You might think you know everything about keeping your vagina free from infection, but you could be wrong. Read this article let's see how much you know about keeping your vagina healthy and happy.

To maintain a healthy vagina you must know what to do to avoid infection. By following these healthy habits, you can protect your vagina and avoid uncomfortable infections once and for all.

1. Vaginal fingering:

Some couple enjoy using their fingers to sexually stimulate the vagina or the anus during sex. However, this practice can be dangerous when you consider how many guys even remember to wash their hands when they're sexually charged to the brim. Some people don't keep their nails clean so they gather a lot of germs that might be deposited in the vagina during fingering. This often leads to one vagina infection or another.

The practice is generally considered "safe sex" as long as the nails are clean and there are no open wounds on the fingers. The nails should be trimmed and filed; long, sharp or jagged nails can cause cuts, injury, or severe infection. Ensure that your man washes his hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before fingering to avoid the spread of bacteria or germs.

2. Avoid the use of Vagina Hygiene Products:

Do you think you need some assistance keeping things all clear down there? Well, you don't. Because your vagina actually stays quite clean on its own without the help of outside cleansers. Studies have shown that using vaginal hygiene products can put you at increased risk of infections and pelvic inflammatory disease. Just don't do it.

Some people put antiseptics or detergents in water and use the solution to wash the inside part of the vagina with the help of sponge or towel. If you do this, then you're engaging in a dangerous practice. It's wrong because it kills the harmless (or normal) bacteria in the vagina, leading to infection.

Many parents threaten to insert pepper into the vagina of their adolescent daughters as a form of punishment. And some parent actually do it. This is so wrong! Whatever it is, putting something in the vagina for whatever reason is not cool at all.

3. Be careful with anal sex:

Anal sex refers to the insertion and thrusting of the penis into a person's anus for sexual pleasure. While anal sex is commonly associated with male homosexuality, research shows that it's not uncommon in heterosexual relationships. You know what I'm talking about, right? ok. But what a lot of girls probably don't know is the high risk associated with anal sex because of the vulnerability of the anus and rectum.

Apart from that, to have anal sex and then go on to have penovaginal sex may put your vagina at great risk. The penis picks bacteria from the anus and deposits them in the vagina, even if you use a condom. So, make sure not to go from anal to vaginal sex without changing the condom or properly cleaning off first. Going from backdoor to front exposes your vagina to a host of bacteria and can up your risk of infections.

4. Quest to make the vagina tighter:

Just the way some women complain about small penis, so do some men complain that their women are too big down there. They complain about not feeling enough sensation during sex. Consequently, many ladies are pushed to find a quick solution. They apply all sorts of herbal and synthetic products that promise to tighten the vagina. Some of these products may cause infection, while others may actually make the vagina get tighter, sometimes, to the extent that penetration becomes difficult-- and that's another problem on its own.

5. Approach antibiotics with caution:

Another threat to your vagina happiness are antibiotics. you might ask: "what exactly is this guy talking about here?" But the fact is, those antibiotic pills can kill off some of those wonderful lactobacilli (harmless bacteria) that keep your vagina healthy. If you've to take an antibiotic drug to fight infection, you should follow the right prescription. The harmless bacteria in the vagina are there to prevent the vagina from infection and bad odour. Do't do away with them.

6. Wear cotton underwear:

Cotton underwear allows air to flow freely through the fabric. This prevents the development of damp conditions that promote the growth of yeast and unhealthy bacteria that might lead to an infection. Avoid underwear made from synthetic fabrics, silk, nylon, lace, or other materials.

Again, always wear loose-fitting clothing. Stretch pants, skinny jeans, and tights trap moisture against the skin and prevent airflow, often leading to yeast infections. So, go for skirts and gowns more often. Loose shorts are also good.

7. Wipe from front to back:

After using the toilet, it's important to wipe the anus from front to back, rather than the reverse, to keep fecal matter from entering your vagina and causing an infection. Also, use plain, unscented toilet paper to wipe. And don't use any product that contains perfumes and chemicals to clean your anus or vagina.

8. Eat plenty of yogurt:

It has been discovered that yogurt has the same kind of harmless bacteria that your vagina needs to stay healthy. Yogurt can help you replenish your body’s bacteria if you make it part of your daily diet. Eating yogurt is a great way to both prevent and treat yeast infections.

9. Use of water closet (WC):

Be careful when using a public toilet anywhere. Some ladies have the habit of not sitting on the seat of the water closet when using it, so they end up urinating on the seat. The possibility of picking infection when using a WC in that condition is high. Don't let your underwear hang on your thigh as you use the WC in a public toilet because your underwear may come in contact with harmful germs on the surface of the water closet.

Always make sure that the water closet is well flushed before you expose your anus and vagina to it. In a case where you can't find water, make sure you use enough toilet roll to cover before using the WC to avoid any splashes on your vulva.

10. Avoid self-medication:

If you notice something out of the ordinary, consult your doctor. Many women are not familiar with the way their vaginas look and feel, so they're not aware when something changes. Every vagina is different, and it's important to know how your vagina normally looks, feels and smells so that when something changes, you'll easily notice and seek medical attention if necessary. Go to the doctor if you notice a stark change in color, warts or other bumps, discharge that smells or looks different, or if you have pain in your vagina. Don't rely on self-medication.

UDbester, I don't need to have a vagina to know those things. Various medical studies have been done. A little research is all that is needed.
