My bad, iPhone x has a better display than s8. But really we are at a point where amarphone displays are becoming the same with no difference (apart from some scientific figures than nobody can see).

Especially those Chinese phones, it's like they wait for apple to release their phones and they follow trend. Apple remived the headphone jack and now everyone is removing the headphone jack. Apple added the notch and everyone is doing same. Apple phones don't have app drawer and lots of Android phones now come with launchers without app drawer. Apple named their phone iPhone x and lots of OEM are now adding x to the name of their phones. If apple decides to remove speakers from their phone lots of these oems will follow. I still give it to Samsung for keeping it real. Still have the headphone jack (at least for now), no notch (for now).

But Apple wasn't the first to release a phone with a notch na.
And no one's saying Apple copied the essential phone.

And the other copycats don't have any software functionality relating to the notch

On the iPhone X, swiping down from either side of the notch does a different thing.

More accurate colors doesn't necessarily translate to better displays.

Infact the lack of accuracy is what most people are looking for, that extra punch.

Samsung displays are and have been way better for years now.

People don't go for lack of accuracy. Otherwise, LG phones would be sold more. Customers take OLEDS for their deep blacks 9 times out of 10 (+ infinite contrast). If it's about having >100% on the Adobe RGB scale, LG and some Sony have Samsung beat. Samsung has the perfect way to combine the paper stats to produce a display remarkable


Secondly, the most accurate display is found on the Samsung s9, the best display in the world but that's in RGB mode. Now iPhone X has the second most accurate display in the world ON AUTO. It also has the 2nd best display on a phone. So you see where your analogy about going for lack of color accuracy is found wanting?

Its for those who want the style without the lock in to an overpriced ecosystem and platform.

There's no need for the name calling. Samsung made the display on the iPhone x because Samsung is the only company that can supply that much oled display to match the kind of sales iPhone x would get. They made the display based on Apple's recommendations. Apple use their software to tweak how the display behaves. It's just like many companies get their camera sensors from Sony yet Sony cannot make a phone with decent camera because they don't have the software to make the pictures come out great.

damn the p20 pro is a killer. The processor may not be as fast as apple processor, but u want even notice unless you run heavy apps or benchmark, on a day to day use nothing at all. But the phones camera beats anyother camera out there. I was surprised when I watched a review on YouTube, this guy has 1.5m subscribers.and in the video he said he has dumped his apple x for the huawei p20 pro. Camera is just the bomb, water resistant. Infact I've been saving money to be the first to make a review on nairaland. Damn!! Except the 4k which is a flop. But it will be fixed
