Martz101:thank you. All this Etebo talk is because of his performance for Las Palmas, there are no guarantees he will perform same way for Eagles So, I cannot in good faith, ask for Etebo to start our opening game when his performance in the GwG is underwhelming next to his Las Palmas performances 3 Likes |

Etebo is arguably our most creative hardworking midfielder, those kind of players are crucial for any national team. 1 Like |

Humility017:how effective is he? Ability is different from effectiveness. He can run, he has pace, he is mobile. That's all good, but all his running and mobility doesn't have the desired end product |

Loogan:It's not like our World Cup hopes would receive a blow if he doesn't make the team. He is only important on paper IMO He is not our most creative midfielder, what has he ever created for us? Does he have any assist? Hardworking? If running up and down the pitch is hardworking, then Musa is our most hardworking forward Etebo is overrated. He is average in the GwG, I don't care what he does in La Liga 4 Likes |

Alert: Best way to stop Croatia, stop Modric from dictating play from the midfield...stop him from trying to find Rakitic most of the time who normally delivers the final pass or sends it to Perisic to cross. We should do an AUGENTHALER ON MARADONA version at 1990 World Cup...I know that Modric is not so fast in Croatian colours[he is sorrounded by fast legs in Madrid],we should work to BLOCK HIS VSION....and Croatian will collapse. He is the prima donna of this team 5 Likes |

I watched an interview where Zaha was asked about, his switch to Ivory Coast. He said that he had previously rejected the calls from ivory coast but eventually accepted because of their persistence and the snub by England. He wanted to go where he will be appreciated in his own words. 6 Likes |

Humility017:well, there are others who have done better. Let's leave out his shooting abilities, he has just one goal for the senior team, so it can't be that awesome. Etebo is a good player, that is not in doubt, but like I said, I think he's overrated in the national team 1 Like |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 11:10am On May 11, 2018 |
safarigirl: is it that you have forgotten his near MoM performance against Algeria? Against SA he was even better than Ndidi and factually everybody was bad on the day, in the return leg against Algeria he may have had a bad game, not sure there is any player who has never had one. What is your definition of creativity anyways? You are narrowing down creativity to only mean 'creative passes', we also have creative runs(Etebo's strong point if you watched that Olympic games and the qualifiers. We also have creative runs oh, which Etebo is also good at. So he is creative, not Mikel type creative but definetly more creative than anyother midfielder we have in the first team, by that I mean Ndidi and/or Onazi 1 Like |

safarigirl:yeah sure...they're others who have done better.... but when one take a swipe at his few months experience playing in la liga already played with crots la liga stars ..his work rate and ability to combine well with mikel upfront...passing accuracy.... one will give him a go ahead... also he barely make rough tackles against Croatia I will want him play.... combine well with ndidi in the middle... anyway let's see how the friendlies and rohr camping scheme turns out... 1 Like |

Friends, Countrymen, Nairalanders!!! Frankly, I think the loss to Serbia is the reason a lot of us went cold footed. We seem to forget that as we are scared of Croats, they also wary of us. They watch English Premiership too. They see Iwobi's passing and runs, Ndidi's tackling stats, Mikel's marshalling of the midfield, VicMoses dangerous runs as well. Dont you think they also worried? Lemme assure you all that they will also be kept busy when playing against Nigeria. For instance, they have to worry about moses not disturbing thrir defence too. They still have to mark some opponents. Please stop this invincibility syndrome. We are not playing against Man City coached by Pep Guardiola where all his players are on fire. National team football is not the same as Club football. So dont judge a player by what they do in their respective clubs. I make bold to say that they aren not as fantadtic as we make them out to be. Lets take a cursory look at the last 2 friendlies and ask ourselves why we performed woefully. We all know that if this issue of creative midfielder werent a challenge, we could have beaten the Serbs or at least drawn the match. Yall saw how we matched the Polish national team parading the much dreaded Lewandowski. Our defence isnt the type that leak goals easily. So the problem is who plays our creative midfield. That is the core problem the team has now. Forget the goalkeeping issue. The aim of the tournament is not to concede no goals but to score and score plenty. This can only be achieved when our attacking midfielders provide the supplies. Make u a take a chill pill abeg 10 Likes 1 Share |

safarigirl:I quite disagree, he gave mikel the assist he scored againt Algeria which he had a good game, you def know about his exploits in las palmas where he has very impressive acttacking stats. He can play the box to box role well, he is hardworking thats not debatable, he only lacks top level experience which he had a taste of in spain. from the few gernot has said on him, he obviously values him. And its the midfield department not the attack so the Musa comparison cannot be substantial enough because musa is an attacker 1 Like |

Truidstar: That's w very misplaced and misleading comparison. Nigeria midfield 1994 JJay, Oliseh and Adepoju by 1998 they had progressed with the addition of Oruma, These players were playing at the top clubs of Europe at that time. PSG, Juventus, Real Sociedad and Marseille. Add to that our attacking force of Yekini, Amokachi, Emenike, Finidi, Kanu, Ikpeba add to that our defensive string line up if Uchechukwu and Taribo. Team spirit doesn't win matches without quality players. Can you honestly compare the current bunch with set of 1194-19998. |

Mickael2:It beats me that its even an argument. Im struggling to find a player who matches etebos hard running, because he missed a sitter against SE he lacks creativity, the same guy who scored 4goals in sn Olympics game. |

All dose of u forming pundits , believing dat ur giving level headed analysis need I remind u dat football is a game played by 11 players per team.. ND one on one comparism isn't how d game is played... So Wat if they are better Dan us?, support ur team ND expect d best... Some guys are just here to shoot down positive ND encouraging predictions of victory as if we have never beaten a team parading better players or wit beta ranking Dan us recently... So Wat if we lost to Serbia??... If u b pundit go join FIFA tactical analysis team... ND leave us to hope for a successful outing in peace.... Shuuuu! 1 Like |

lol i thought i was the only one that noticed this,we won Argentina and the whole eagles fan were so sure of the team doing very well in Russia but after the Serbia match we all went into our shells again . many of us fail to understand that friendly matches are meant to fine tone a team and also detect and work on flaws noticed during that time. i still believe rohr and his boys can still spring up surprises in Russia kennysville: 3 Likes |
