My fear is that this electronic voting machine dose not capture biometric data when voting, this will give plenty room for manipulation. 2 Likes |

This is just the right way to go if we actually want to make substantial progress in our electionering process. |

Electronic what ? Oh lawd this country is finished . Please be aware that this is an inec innovation/ experiment and not the kaduna state government. It's all planned, the election will be tagged "successful and extra-transparent" then it will be recommended for the 2019 elections and the president will approve of it. Remember that anything electronic can be bypassed and the rigging to keep buhari until 2023 will be a success. It's such a shame in this country, a script of events is played boldly before our eyes and we are just laid back watching lazily, no meaningful opposition. Malaysia still make use of thumbprints in Their last election, Nigeria is not honest enough for anything digital when it comes to voting and elections we must boycott the elections should this device called electronic voting be put before us in the elections come 2019. God bless the FRN. tony 3 Likes |

Neoteny: What has CAN got to do with this ? If you knew the first thing about tech you would not be so opinionated. In a nation where mass illiteracy reigns, someone wants to introduce electronic voting. Who wrote the software ? Who controls the protocols ? Will the opposition be given a chance for software audit ? How do you ensure there are no overrides and backdoors ? Can the people understand the process ? Millions of people today in Nigeria cannot operate smartphones and ATM machines without assistance; how can they be trusted to vote electronically ? In case of dispute can the legal system accommodate technical issues that may arise ? No. Our legal system is incapable of dealing with cases that may arise. What is the cost compared to paper ballot ? Electronic systems place our democracy squarely in the hands of people who control the machines. They may be the incumbents, IT specialists or foreign powers. Electronic voting is NOT suitable for Nigeria. Democracy is under attack. Option A4 remains the best system. Even El-Rufai knows this. The problem with the Nigerian electoral system lies in insecurity and non-implementation of laws, not in the manner of voting. If votes could be rigged in Florida in 2001 during the Gore-Bush contest, then I wonder what the fate of Nigeria will be. God help us. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

As well it is a welcome development, at least Nigeria is not ready for e-voting now due to corruption and there are claims that the electronic voting machines are vulnerable to malicious programming and if it gets affected then any hacker can hack the machine and can tamper the vote counts easily These are the questions we should ask ourselves 1. Which company manufactured these electronic voting machines? (The machines are foreign manufactured, which means the secret codes that control the electronic voting machines are in foreign hands and they can be used to influence the election results) and since the Kaduna state government which is an APC state purchased the machines... This really has raised an eyebrow 2. Who coded the software? 3. Is the machine internet enabled that the result collated is uploaded to the cloud? 4. Who manages the cloud storage? INEC or Kaduna state government? 5. Is the voting in real time? 6. Does the machine has voice assisted facilities for the visually impaired patients? 7. Does Nigeria have a law backing up electronic voting in case of disputes? 8. Do we have an agency put in place for electronic voting audit? There are a lot of disadvantages of this e-voting machine at the moment especially in a developing country like Nigeria (especially when the e card reader gave a lot of hitches during the last general election) 1 Like |

fashrola: I agree with you. We wrote the same thing in different words. Nigerians are really illiterate. Imagine people praising El-Rufai as he leads them into subjugation. If the 2000 election could be electronically rigged in Florida, what do you think will happen in Nigeria ? El-Rufai is a devil and a threat to our democracy. 1 Like |

GavelSlam: There you go again Can you answer these questions with facts? 1. Who purchased the electronic voting machines? Kaduna state government or INEC? 2. Was the purchase of the equipment an open tender bid? Was it advertised in the national newspaper? 3. Which company is responsible for the manufacturing and coding of the software? Till when you answer these questions, I won't take you seriously again... Because you are just blinded with partisan politics which it's gonna consume you sooner or later... Electronic voting is a threat to democracy in Nigeria, because the country is riddled with corruption and nepotism 2 Likes |

Call me a cynic or skeptic, but I just don't see how this electronic whatever will eradicate rigging in Nigeria elections. The only way to have free and fair elections is to have an electoral body completely independent, autonomous, De-tribalised, and incorruptible. Most countries use the same old thumb-printing ballot process, yet you hear no complaints. 1 Like |
