OkutaNla: just watch buhari's policies by 2019 , Abuja Airport is already overtaking Lagos Airport traffic , the next release from NOS will Numb you, real estate growth in Abuja is far ahead of Lagos, the problem is that by the time it becomes glaring , it becomes too late. 3 capital investments in the North a steal plant , refinery and the Dam in taraba will dwarf everything that is happening in Lagos |

When will Nigeria export index increase through diversification to other sector of economy like agriculture. When will Nigeria move from consumption icon to production haven to us build our economy. Importation is virus that is decaying the vitality of the Nation. A solely consuming Nation can never experiences economies growth. When shall we learn from China, Japan, Germany and South Korea. Today the world is talking about knowledge economy for steady economies growth but we are celebrating high importation index. May God help us 2 Likes |

kettykings: Lol. Bwoy, you can keep feeding your own paranoia with all that crap OK? Down here in the SW we are holding and ever expanding our own turf without depending on the FG like Abuja is. Ogun is still the industrial hub of the country, servicing our ever expaniding market base. Our regional IGR keep blowing the socks off every other region. We have the biggest regional market in the entire West Africa, so who gives a fvck about Abuja? We got the land to expand our frontiers if need be ( Eko Atlantic sef dey dia for Lag), we got the seaports (with two more coming on-stream -- Lekki and Badagry), we got industries, the refinery is coming onstream, we got the airports (with one more coming up), we got the market, we got the human resources. Dude, no contest abeg. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Where are the inflows? I leave in Abuja, and all I can tell you is, businesses are dying due to dwindling liquidity. Whatever this government did to this economy? Only God can save us now. It's never been this bad. It's been terrible since 2017. Speaking for myself though. perhaps the situation is much more favourable for others. My visits to the various markets in Abuja though seems to confirm my wailing. You can actually play football on the market street during Business hours 6 Likes |

kettykings: Damn dude, why this your fixation with Lagos? Why are you so eager to see her fail or retrogress sotay una even try to deny her strides and progress? Why are you Igbos like this? You hate Lagos so much that you cant wait to see her fail out of jealousy, yet paradoxically you call her a 'nomansland' out of your covetous longerthroat. Igbo whyyyy?? Na only una waka come You are not even concerned one bit about the no-show from your region, but here you are hoping the worse for Lagos? Something is seriously wrong with you coz I don't understand why you are taking panadol for Yorubaland headache when your own region is there for you to worry about. Shyt just ain't adding up dude. 7 Likes 3 Shares

The indices of the cash flow to Abuja is very cryptic and unreported and, I supposed, I could be wrong, that the inflow indicates the repatriation of finances for next year's election. Should one look beyond the facade, one will know enough to prepare for what is to come as there will be inflow of more and more foreign currencies into Abuja which will have a destabilizing effect on the local currency, because the narration of the purpose of funds remain doubtful. Abuja is not a manufacturing hub, neither is it a trading hub, so I really have no insider knowledge of the purpose of such inflow into a political capital that produces nothing more than sick political minds running the country aground. The population of Abuja is nothing compared to Kano or Lagos. Abuja is not a manufacturing hub and has no consumption power compared to Lagos or Kano, but received highest Cash inflow ? Let's even question the choice of UK as the source of the FDI ? No mention was made of the foreign entities providing capital ? No mention of the local investment indices. I think I need to move to Abuja where mad men make more money than sane humans. It's all about the money, so we must follow the money. 3 Likes |

This is a very suspicious story. The real question is where does the money go when it comes in? Most of the money that enters Abuja leaves almost right away. Most landlords live outside abuja, looters stash the funds outside the country, legislators take the money to their states, state officers also domesticate their share of the booty, federal agencies distribute the money based on federal character, meanwhile, civil servants are 'broke', the private sector is almost comatose, housing is a disaster, the number of poor and destitute citizens is increasing and one jackoby is saying yaya. Most of the money that enters Lagos stays in Lagos. It circulates, moves around a couple of times before it goes out. That is what creates prosperity. 4 Likes |

Rainmaker69: I'm no economist, but simple laws of economics tell me cost of living, especially housing, is expensive in Abuja because the market for it exists in Abuja. My uncle was complaining to me just 2 days ago how he wanted to sell an apartment block of 6 units of 3-bedroom flats he has in Mkpor, Anambra (not far from Onitsha) because he barely gets 720k a year in rent from it. Meanwhile, even his singular unit 3-bedroom boys-quarter that he rents out in Lagos nets him 750k a year. And it's not even in good area of Lagos. It's simple demand and supply really. Abuja has a high concentration of HNI (high net worth individuals) and that is why life is expensive there. 3 Likes |

Obi1kenobi: Interesting point. There are many factors responsible for high cost of living outside market forces (supply and demand). As a general rule, Nigeria has a housing deficit that is very obvious in city centers and urban areas. The Abuja phenomenon is nothing like what you think it is. Rent and property prices are not determined by actual market prices. Going by your HNI analysis, Lagos rates would be worse than Abuja but in Lagos, you find the good, bad and ugly. In Abuja, the prices do not reflect these realities (although the financial crunch is equalizing prices). My brother, forget that thing about concentration of HNIs in Abuja. A visit to the place will change your mind. 2 Likes |
